CHAPTER 8:
"Dad!" he walked back to his father. "What am I supposed to do today? Sleep?"
The old man laughed at his own son. Why wouldn't he laugh when his son was a whole joke? He had wanted to raised a ruthless being who could stand on his own, be vicious and be ready to defend the family wealth. But this! This was bitter. Yuvan just didn't care, he wasn't even serious. God knows what rung in his mind but... Ranvier wasn't happy.
"Today, you're supposed to sign the oil company document. What's wrong with you? Is this what I worked for all these years? Raising you up to be a responsible son?" the old man lamented.
"I won't embarrass you. It's only that you won't believe in me unless I put on a suit. But trust you me, I know what am doing." Yuvan walked back and parted his dad. The old man was obviously not happy.
He got into the car and Yuvan followed. The guards came along and they drove to Ranvier oil company. Old man Ranvier entered the elevator with his son. Everyone bowed. This was the first time Yuvan arrived here without a golden mask. For the first time the workers saw his face.
Yuvan sat in the comfortable chair and signed the documents in front of his father. They then went to address the staff who would be under a new management.
"I hereby introduce me son over to you as your new CEO. He will manage the company... " Mr. Ranvier gave his speech. Among those listening was Mr. Bush.
After Mr. Ranvier left, Yuvan was left with the staff in the company hall to talk to them. They all anticipated to a great time with their young CEO.
"For now, work has to go one as usual but their are few changes that will go on in future." Yuvan tapped the table softly.
"What kind of management changes young master?" Mr. Henry Bush asked.
"The kind of management that will kill some of you out. Yeah, some of you." Yuvan waved his hand and the staff frowned.
"Why?" Mr. Morgan asked.
"Well, I know well your efforts to get the obstacles out of the way and have your freedom. Not all of you, but some of you. So, I'll have to reshuffle and make a few changes for the smooth running of the company." Yuvan said. Everyone was silent for a while.
"Young Mr. I want to ask questions." Mr Henry Bush raised his hand.
"Sorry, there is no time for questions. Until when I come back, everything to go on as usual." Yuvan stood up and left. The staff was silent for a while.
"What does this fragile son of Mr. Ranvier think he is?" Mr. Henry Bush lamented.
"Watch your tongue. Don't underestimate anyone yet." Mr. Morgan warned.
... The rich kid plays field...morning...
Willow arrived in the captain's helmet. Lucas, the former captain had been stripped off his position for calling a stranger brother. So he just sat at the corner and watched others gather. When he tried to talk to them, everyone gave him a nasty look.
"Go ask your mysterious 'brother' to be on your side Captain!" Willow laughed.
"We had made a deal ok? I just kept my words." The Captain defended himself. A burly man, Bern rushed over and the others welcomed him with news of someone who went past his abilities.
"Bern, you can't defeat him! He broke the records!" Dave spoke first.
"I can't believe it until I see him with my own eyes." Bern said and then turned to the captain. "You! You dare now down to someone else? You're no longer our captain!"
"How could you!" Willow shouted inciting others. "I will stand in as your captain from today. As from today, Lucas is not even fit to be a player here!"
Everyone cheered with excitement but Lucas fell to his knees. "If I can not be the captain any longer, I can still be a player here!"
He was brutally pushed aside and fell on his back. He was really desperate today because this was where he spend most of his time. He had been playing here for a long time over the years and loved being with his friends. He wasn't a young boy, he was a man in his twenty six just like the other rich kids who range between twenty two to twenty nine.
"Fine! What if you guys are lying?" Bern asked rolling the ball on the ground with one leg.
"Why would we?" Dave asked in time for Yuvan to casually walk into the play field. Everyone turned to look at him.
Lucas, who was feeling so down and dejected decided to vent his anger on him. "you! You coming here has robbed me off my position as the captain!"
Yuvan frowned upon hearing it. He didn't expect anything to have happened. "What did I do?"
Dave pointed at him and Bern frowned and walked over.
"I heard you're the new champion. Are you just a champion here or in combat too?" Bern asked flexing his muscle. Yuvan frowned but didn't say anything. "What's your name?"
"Yu." He waved his hand at Bern.
"You?" Bern thought he meant him, as in, pointing at him and saying you. He didn't understand it as a name. "You're arrogant right? I asked, what's your name?"
"I told you. You just didn't want to believe me." Yuvan pushed Bern aside and walked to captain's side.
"Brother, restore my position or..."
"Or what?" Yuvan asked back even before captain finished his words.
"I'll crush you with my own hands." Captain roared with a frowned face.
Same morning...Nova lay in bed not ready to wake up. It was a Friday and damn, that feeling of a weekend creeping in.
