CHAPTER 6: CONFRONTATION
The State University...
It was evening and everyone was heading to the Grand Square for a meal while others went just to relax in the natural environment around the square... And some went over to gossip and even others to meet their lovers after a long day of lectures and extra curriculum activities.
Hain was cleaning her nails in an exposing dress with a group of girls she always hung out with.
"But am surprised, why didn't you ever get intimate with Levi? He's the sports captain and in the last talents show, he was the second runners up in the Mr. University challenge!" Layla, a girl with scarlet hair asked.
"Layla, stop! Who doesn't know Levi is a playboy? I wanted someone who could take me seriously." Hain said.
"What?" Layla stuck out her tongue in a funny way. "You did snatch Ronald from Nova. What do you think, he's taking you seriously? He's obviously a hit and run guy."
"There is something you girls didn't notice. When Ronald was still dating Nova, there were no sex scandals published on the school newspaper. What if he left her because she wasn't an easy target?" Emma asked. Everyone seemed to notice something and they both looked at Hain.
"I don't believe that!" Hain said. "Nova wasn't as famous three weeks ago as she is now. She was still struggling to make it to the top. Her last movies started gaining fame when the outside media hit in. But me? I shot to the top in a day!" this was bragging and the other girls could see it.
"Between you and Nova, there is a big difference. You shot to the top once, she did it steadily and remains the star even now. She's even more beautiful. I think Ronald is just... Some guy with no patience and brains!" Layla said making everyone to look at her shocked.
"Mind your words Layla! You're talking about my boyfriend!" Hain wasn't happy at it. "Who says about sex scandals? Yesterday, Nova left in company of a guy who is suspected to be the heir of Ranvier although no one is a hundred percent sure except her roommates."
They kept silent when they say Nova and her two roommates walking towards the square entrance. She was in a light evening dress which swayed as she walked. Her hair was tired in a ponytail and she was rolling her phone in her hands as she walked.
"I just suspect Ronald gave you out!" Patricia said.
"I don't care. I understand having to be famous comes with all the disadvantages so it's normal." Nova said smiling.
"Talk of the devil!" Quincy stepped on the side of Nova as Ronald halted before them. Nova looked at him calmly.
"What do I owe this?" She asked standing. The breeze blew part of her dress up since it was made of light fabrics. Ronald stared at it and hated himself for leaving her.
"I didn't know you could be that desperate after we break up. I mean, you think the Ranvier just marries anyone?" Though he wanted to apologise, he wanted to confirm something first.
"The same way you didn't take the relationship on another level after two years in a relationship." Nova said calmly. Hain seeing her boyfriend with someone else, she went over. Levi was passing by and had wanted to meet with Nova, so he sat at a distance and waited at the same time to watch the drama.
"You two broke up, why are you still dragging him into your matters Nova? Are you that desperate?" Hain snorted pulling Ronald to her side. He wanted to resist, but he just couldn't
"I didn't look for him, he did look for him. If you want to end this, tell him to keep being by your side. Am not interested in a man who is a failure!" Nova laughed at her. Hain frowned when she heard that. Ronald was shocked.
"Nova! I stood by you!" Ronald was angry.
"She didn't say you didn't stand by her side. Come to think of it, what will you tell the world when you've dated her for years and never even got intimate once?" Quincy said. The other girls all laughed making Ronald feel embarrassed. Nova looked at him and gave a cold smile before matching forward. She knew this might appear on tomorrow's university paper and this was same as embarrassing Ronald everywhere in the school.
Levi coughed awkwardly as he followed Nova. The girls who remained stared at Hain. Ronald broke off and walked to the opposite side.
"Hain... Have you been intimate with him?" Layla asked. Hain nodded shyly.
"I knew... I knew it. How could you be so cheap? You heard that? When the whole school thought this two were good at hiding there intimate activities, they actually were having none. You really think it hurts her even once?" Layla asked. Hain's face changed drastically.
There was some truth in everything. Nova and Ronald's relationship had lasted but it wasn't led by lust and sexual desires. She had her visions and goal and didn't want to mess with herself. Ronald seeing Nova was a hard rock to crack, he moved on. Although at first everyone admired there relationship, he wasn't comfortable with it. Many guys had come to her but she turned them down because she was sincerely in love with Ronald. But why? Because he was her first lover and they had started their relationship before she so much immersed herself in acting. She believed he made her grow.
But then, one girl won the swimming competition and rose to fame in a matter of hours. The school suddenly focused on her and their light which had started shining on Nova seemed to dim. But she didn't loose hope, she didn't want to be jealous, she wanted to be herself. And with the positive mind, she did great.
"Hey Nova... Can I ask you something?" Levi stopped. Nova looked up at him nodding. "I want you to join the sports section too, more so the martial arts training."
"Why?" Nova was surprised. "Don't you want to write and act fighting scenes? Besides, it will help you maintain your physical shape."
Nova didn't say anything for a long while and this made Levi nervous...
Did I offend her?
But she smiled at him...
