Chapter 591: Two Men and One Woman
The mutant teenagers had gathered together, throwing a lively party. Being around their peers, it was only natural for them to let loose and enjoy themselves.
At this moment, Erik, Charles, and Agent Moira arrived at the scene. Upon seeing the chaotic state, all three of them frowned. Agent Moira was left speechless, while Erik and Charles could only feel helpless. However, they understood the mindset of these teenagers; after all, they had previously led lonely lives filled with fear. Now that they were finally together, it was only natural for them to express their joy.
Agent Moira was quite upset, but Raven still seemed in high spirits, even going so far as to nickname Erik Lehnsherr as "Magneto" and Charles Xavier as "Professor X."
Erik shrugged, admitting that the codename was unique, while Charles looked disappointedly at Raven, hoping she would perform better in their upcoming mission. Sensitive to emotions, Raven felt a bit hurt by his reaction.
Despite everything, the organization had finally taken shape. The next step was to execute their mission. They had received intel that Sebastian Shaw would be meeting with a high-ranking Soviet official, so they planned to confront him directly. The operation was to be carried out by Erik Lehnsherr, Charles Xavier, and Agent Moira. As for the newly recruited youngsters, they clearly needed more training before they could participate.
When they arrived at the location, however, they found that Sebastian Shaw was nowhere to be seen. Instead, they encountered his trusted aide, the blonde beauty Emma Frost. This woman had dealt with both Charles and Erik before and was also a mutant skilled in telepathy. With her around, Charles found it difficult to use his powers without being detected.
But determined to find out Shaw's exact whereabouts, Charles came up with a plan. Instead of directly invading the minds of Emma or the Soviet officer she was meeting, he infiltrated the mind of a nearby guard, using his perspective and senses to eavesdrop on their conversation.
Watching this unfold, many viewers outside the screen were amazed, gaining a clearer understanding of Charles Xavier's abilities. They marveled at the notion that if this mutant ever turned evil, he would undoubtedly become one of the most cunning and formidable villains imaginable!
Charles' powers were perfectly suited for assassination, espionage, and stealth. If he wanted to, he could locate anyone on Earth, and if he didn't want to be found, no one could track him down. Many viewers couldn't help but exclaim: "This godlike ability is absolutely unbeatable!"
Even Erik, observing from outside the screen, was deeply impressed, privately considering how difficult it would be to fight Charles. Though the outcome would be uncertain, he knew that Charles' abilities would pose a significant challenge not just to humans, but to mutants as well.
In the video, Charles Xavier eventually succeeded in gathering the intelligence. It turned out that Sebastian Shaw was supposed to meet with the Soviet official personally, but due to a last-minute issue, he had sent the blonde beauty Emma in his place. The Soviet officer, clearly more interested in the blonde, quickly forgave her rudeness and took her to his quarters.
Having missed their target, Agent Moira suggested they abort the mission and wait for another opportunity, but Erik Lehnsherr was unwilling to leave empty-handed. He stated firmly, "She's Shaw's trusted aide. Capturing her is good enough!"
Agent Moira quickly tried to dissuade him, "Are you crazy? A CIA agent infiltrating a Soviet officer's residence?!"
Her reaction suggested the gravity of the situation, though everyone knew that the CIA had done this sort of thing countless times before.
Moira ultimately failed to stop Erik. With a roguish grin, Erik replied, "I'm not a CIA agent."
Exactly. Even if he were a CIA agent, he wouldn't admit it if the mission failed—unless he was subjected to severe torture. After all, espionage was all about dirty work.
Moira, however, insisted on staying out of it. But she had no control over Erik Lehnsherr. Magneto decided to take matters into his own hands. As he approached the estate, he activated his powers. The Soviet officer's mansion was heavily guarded, with armed soldiers on duty and a barbed wire fence around the perimeter. Yet, in front of Magneto, the barbed wire and the soldiers' guns became nothing more than tools at his disposal.
"He could start World War III all by himself!" The CIA agents were stunned, and Moira didn't know what to do, ultimately deciding to retreat. However, Charles Xavier shook his head, saying, "Sorry, but I can't leave him here." With that, he resolutely followed Erik.
Watching this, Erik Lehnsherr outside the screen couldn't help but smile slightly. He thought to himself that while Charles might be a bit naive, he was still a reliable teammate—perhaps even a friend?
Inside the video, Erik stormed into the Soviet officer's mansion as if he were taking a leisurely stroll. With a wave of his hand, he neutralized all the guards. Although Erik's actions seemed reckless, he was somewhat restrained, only incapacitating the soldiers rather than killing them. Charles Xavier, upon catching up, inevitably have to clean up after Erik by using his abilities to hypnotize the unfortunate soldiers.
The two pressed forward, making their way directly into the officer's bedroom. There, they saw the officer sitting on his bed, affectionately holding what seemed to be thin air. Meanwhile, a blonde beauty dressed in simple lingerie, Emma, sat leisurely on a nearby sofa. The scene was both amusing and absurd. Erik and Charles exchanged glances, with Charles raising an eyebrow. "Quite the performance," he remarked dryly.
It was obvious that this blonde beauty was sent by Sebastian Shaw to seduce the officer and extract information. Like Charles, Emma also possessed telepathic abilities, allowing her to influence and control others' minds to some extent. At that moment, she had hypnotized the Soviet officer, making him believe he was embracing someone.
However, with the sudden intrusion of outsiders, Emma was startled, causing her illusion and hypnosis to break. The Soviet officer, now fully aware, was shocked and immediately drew his gun. But among the three in the room, who would be intimidated by a mere pistol?
Charles Xavier merely spoke a single word, and the elderly officer, who was clearly still spry despite his age, fell into a deep sleep. At that moment, Emma, now on alert, stood up, her entire body transforming into a shimmering diamond form. In this state, she could resist Charles's telepathy.
Charles gave a helpless glance at Erik beside him. With his own abilities ineffective, he could only rely on Magneto. Just then, Emma decided to charge at them. However, there was no reason for two grown men to be afraid of a woman, even if she was a radiant, diamond-clad woman.
