Chapter 33: Charity Auction Pt.2
The song stops and DJ starts to play a more upbeat song. I look around to see everyone coming out to the floor and start dancing, oh gosh.
"We don't have to dance if you don't want." I asked Alexander hoping he would agree with me and go sit down.
"No, I want to dance." He pulls me forcibly by my waist so I'm super close to him. We move from side to side. He grabs my hand and spins me out and then spins me back into him. I gasp out loud taken by surprise. I had no Idea he knew how to dance. He picks me up and spins me around, everyone turns to look at us. I can't help it but laugh, this is insane.
We continue on dancing he spins me again and even dips me. As I'm in mid dip everything moves in slow motion. I feel my hair leaving my neck and swopping behind me, Alexanders hands grip my back so I don't fall, the music around me drains from my ears and it's only the two of us. He looks at me with adoration in his eyes a smile plastered on this face. This is a moment I will never forget. After the dance is over the music, laughter or people seem to come back into motion.
When the song is finally over my hair is all over the place and Alexander is sweating a lot. We both look towards each other and laugh; this is the most fun I've had in a long time.
"Give it up for the best dancers of the night Quinneth and Alexander." Everyone cheers and hollers for us. We both take a bow and proceed to our table.
I plop down in my seat of exhaustion, Alexander repeats the same thing I do.
"I haven't had fun like that in a long time." I tell him while I try to flatten my hair down.
"Me either." He said alongside me laughing still.
I look to his face to see beads of sweat gliding down his face. Grabbing the table napkin near me I stand up and grab his face.
"Are you going to kiss me?" He asked puckering his lips.
"You wish." I tell him while wiping the sweat off his forehead. Once I'm done, I lay the napkin back on the table and sit down.
"Thank you, Quinn." He spoke.
"Your very welcome." I responded back.
"Hey all that dancing made me hungry you want some cake?" He said pointing over to the buffet. My stomach starts to growl, I blush pressing my hand against my stomach to stop the growling. "I'll take that as a yes be right back." He walks swiftly over to the buffet.
I fix my hair up again and start to smooth down my dress.
"What is going on here?" Lyra says leaning over me. I instantly jump up from her presence, scared the crap out of me.
"Jesus Lyra don't scare me like that, and shouldn't you be doing your job?" I asked her craning my neck so I can look at her.
"Oh, don't worry about me I'm doing my job. I saw you too on the dance floor." She said wiggling her eyebrows.
"And?" I said putting my hand on my hip waiting for her to say something crazy.
"Nothing, just you guys seem real cozy and such. Anything happens let me know, will you?" I rolled my eyes and pushed her away from me as I saw Alexander coming back with the cake.
"Nothing is going to happen get out of here." I tell her. She walks away from me and heads towards the stage.
I smile up at Alexander as he comes back to the table and hands me my cake.
"Yayy velvet cake I love velvet cake. For the longest I truly thought it was a flavor." I said laughing. I slice a piece off with my fork and put it in my mouth.
"Truly?" He said looking at me.
"I swear. This has turned into a really fun night." I put down my fork and look him. He's devouring his cake like it's his last meal.
"Me too. Glad that I bided on you huh?" He said patting me on the leg.
"Don't get cocky now." I said taking another bite of my cake. When I look up from my cake I see that girl that Alexander was talking to staring at me across the room. Her eyes bare into my soul.
"What are you looking at?" Alexander asked.
"Your girlfriend keeps staring at me, it's weird." I nudged my head to her and he looks in that direction. He turns back to me and laughs, I looked at him with a puzzling look on my face.
"Why are you laughing?"
"That's my friend."
"Well tell your FRIEND to stop staring at me it's weird." I said putting emphasis on the friend.
He puts down his fork and ushers over his friend and another guy I'm assuming is his other friend. As they start to get closer, I smack him on the leg. "What the hell are you doing?"
"You told me to tell her to stop staring and that's what I'm doing."
Is he mad? They finally reach our table and I put a smile on my face, knowing that this conversation was about to get awkward.
"Hey my good friend hear Quinneth wanted me to tell you to stop staring at her. She said it was weird." She looked at Alexander then she looked at me while crossing her arms.
I pulled Alexander by his shirt and pulled him close to me. "Damn it Alexander you didn't have to say that." I let go of his shirt and we go back to our regular positions. "It wasn't that serious you know." I tell her hoping that she doesn't kill me she looks like she could kill me.
"I can't help it, Alexander said you were the most beautiful women he's ever seen I had to make sure it was true." She said while smirking at me. I blush from embarrassment and whisper a quiet oh and turn to look at Alexander. His eyes look towards the table cloth avoiding my gaze.
"Oh, I'm sure he was joking." I said with an awkward smile.
"He wasn't." She spoke. His other friend told her to be quiet and she shrugged him off.
"Alright well I'm Christian and this rude individual is Aren." He reaches out his hand for me to shake. I shake his hand and give him a smile. "We will be leaving you too now see you guys later." Christian walks off pulling Aren with him.
"So, you think I'm the most beautiful women you've ever met?" I asked him making full eye contact with him.
"I do actually." He said to confidently. Well, that's not what I imagined he would say.
I couldn't help but plaster a big smile on my face. "That's nice to know."
"You don't think that it seems creepy?" He asked.
"No, I think it's sweet."
I walk out of the dressing room with my regular clothes on. The event ended on a high note, the clinic raised over 20,000 dollars for the animals which is fantastic. This is the highest amount of money they have ever raised. Looking around the place I see everyone putting up the tables and chairs. Off in the distance I see Alexander with his tie hanging around his neck and his hands tucked in his slacks.
"Ready to go?" He asked me holding open the door for me.
"Yes, and thank you." We enter out into the dark parking lot, most of everyone has gone home already. A few cars lay barren in the lot. Walking in silence we arrive at my car.
"Popular to contrary belief I had lots of fun tonight." I told him nuzzling up against my coat, it's rather chilly out here.
"I knew you would. I am after all the life of the party." He said praising himself.
I roll my eyes at him and laugh at his comment. Unlocking my car door I throw my bag in the passenger seat and start up my car so it can warm up.
"I guess the next time we meet it will be our date."
"Yeah it will." I look him up and down and he doesn't seem to be affected by the cold.
"Aren't you cold?" I ask him.
"Not really I'm warm blooded." He tells me with a straight face. Oh alright.
"I must be going my grandpa might be worried about me. Bye."
"Wait a minute." Alexanders says as he runs to his car. What is he doing? He comes back with a bouquet of lotus flowers. "I forgot to give you these." He hands me the flowers.
"Wow.. these are amazing how did you know I liked lotus flowers?" I asked him while sniffing them.
"Well you had lotus flowers drawn on your binder and you also wear a bracelet of lotus flowers.
"I didn't think you noticed that. Forgot I even had this bracelet, thank you." He gives me a smile and a nod.
He walks over to this car and I get inside mine. For a few minutes I just sit in the parking lot staring at the flowers, they are truly magnificent.
He really does notice me.
