Chapter 1: Prologue
Insignias
A way in which average people can break the barrier between themselves and magic. They have been used for around five hundred years and often improve their users' capabilities in battle.
But what are they?
Insignias are simply items that people find precious to them, such as a ring or a necklace. But, these items can transform into weapons when it's user wills it to, allowing their wielders to continue taking a step closer to their true potential with magic. The skillfulness of a magician is decided by their 'rank' which is displayed on their hand in Roman numerals up to five, with five meaning that magician has reached their full potential.
As for where these people train for this? That would be Azure High Battle School. Azure High is a school in which insignia wielders train to become the next generation's magicians, whilst being surrounded by others song the same . There is a branch for this school in all major countries, from America to the UK and also in Japan.
So, as the name of this school suggests, not only do its students study all normal subjects, but they also train in battle every day, to master their insignias.
But not everyone can wield these spectacular gifts. And those who can't are forced to rely on this 'magicians' to protect them. And the magicians rely on ordinary people to keep life ordinary. Without these people, there will be nothing for these warriors to go back to. Without them, the magicians' lives would be that of constant battle and tests of skills. Who do these ordinary people need protecting from? The ones who use Insignias for the sake of evil.
And that's how this world works. Each human has their own part to play. Whether it is to protect, to help their protectors, or to come up with some 'evil scheme', everyone is 'happy' with a role to play in society.
Except those who aren't.
