Aura. Aura resides in every life form on the planet of Lokyer. A few humans have been able to harness aura to use magic. This, paired with technological advancements, is what has driven the aura-craving monsters, signum, to near extinction. In order to defeat the signum, a new class of mage was created: Prestige. After completing an ordeal known as the Crucible, a mage is given a Prestige License which allows them endless freedoms and opportunity with the expectation they protect life on Lokyer.With the four-hundred-year war against the signum nearing its end, problems ignored during this time have arisen. Crime, oppression, and colonization are now being brought to light.After the Shade Mafia killed his mother and brother, Monty vowed to become a Prestige to avenge them. And what better way to find information on a criminal organization than becoming a detective in his uncle’s agency?Monty is admitted into the Prestige Program, a school program at the distinguished Constellation Academy, dedicated to creating the next wave of Prestiges. There he is joined by five other mages, each with their own motives for becoming a Prestige, and each with a past just as haunting.
