Chapter 54: Bite, Squirm, Wriggle

He didn't know when he had fallen asleep, but he was woken up by a rough kick to the back of his head that sent him reeling and his vision dancing with stars.

"Your thirty minutes… are up," intoned the skeleton in that imperious voice. It was one that broached no disobedience, allowed no room for defiance. The skeleton held the power here, and it was not afraid to use it. "Get up."

Lokus tried, but he only made it a few centimeters off of the ground before collapsing in a pool of sweat. His stamina and strength had been entirely drained by the past few days, and a mere thirty minutes of sleep wasn't nearly enough to recuperate.

"Pa…thetic," sneered the skeleton.

A rough, armored hand lifted Lokus up by the neck and tossed him into another room. The sound of clanking metal boots drew closer, and Lokus was filled with a deep sense of dread.

What horrors would he be subjected to now?
