As we approached, my mother quickly flashed what I assume to be identification, and the receptionist urged us through quickly. I guess she did that because the ones following us should be close.
Once inside, a man approached us, and politely greeted us, "welcome to Bluewave auction house, this is Sivk Vis, manager of this branch, lady and young master, let me guide you to one of our VIP rooms."
---------------
[Name]: Sivk Vis
[Age]: 570 years [Race]: Demon Wolf
[ LVL: 278 / 325 - Rank S (S-) ]
---------------
Well, for a place like that, I guess it's not bad to be able to take over if someone comes looking for trouble.
Just when he was going to take us, my mom told him, "first of all I want you to put this up for auction", and I hand him the skill stone that I had given him, which made the man's eyes widen, basically it was rank C and could evolve, or so he thought.
"A-As you say ma'am, if you'll excuse me I'll go right now, and I'll let someone else escort you to the room", it seems that he got nervous after what we gave him and left quickly.
A maid took us to our room, and said "anything you need, ring that bell, the auction will start in half an hour", with that, she bowed respectfully and left the room.
I started asking mom what things we could buy, to which she replied that she only had 200,000 gold right now and the rest would depend on what was earned from the skill stone.
That amount surprised me, yes, it may be thought that it is a small amount belonging to the archduchy, but, taking into account that a normal family of people who stay between the ranks F - E, can live with 100 gold until their death, because the really impresses.
Also, in many novels I have always seen that those young masters or prestigious families had things like mana stones or the like, but in this world it seems they are extremely rare, so money is used to buy resources. Anyway, I still don't know how this world works and maybe other things are used elsewhere, let's put those thoughts aside, at least for now.
Time passed quickly, and soon a voice sounded from the stage, "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome once again to our auction house. We apologize for the delay, but someone put an item up for auction at the last minute, and... I won't say much but you will soon understand, now without further ado, we start with the auction"
With that, the auction hostess came out and the whole thing was filled with murmurs, mostly related to her appearance, it has to be said, she was pretty, but hey, my mother was more beautiful, so I guess my appearance standard has gone up. without noticing.
"Welcome everyone, here we have the first article", she took out a bottle with a red liquid inside of it and put it on top of what looked like a crystalline brick, which served to show off her features.
----------------
[Two-headed fire serpent blood (A)]
[Increases understanding of the fire element, and chance to improve mana capacity by 10%]
[Effectiveness decreases when consumed by those above B-rank]
[50 ml]
----------------
"As you can see, this is the blood of an S rank magical beast, the bid will be 1,500 gold, with a minimum increase of 200 for each subsequent bid."
Right after he stopped talking, the crowd started to go crazy, of course.
"Only 50 ml are capable of increasing mana by 10%?"
"As expected of the Bluewave auction house. Although it loses effectiveness to those above B-rank, we can still use it to the younger generation."
"They really deserve their reputation."
"..."
"Uncle, should we try bidding for it since its price is quite low for something like this?" A young lady sitting in one of the rooms on the second floor asked a middle-aged man beside her.
The man shook his head, "the bidding price is always low, but the final price after the bidding is always a lot higher. Let's just wait and watch, your brother is talented enough even without that blood."
Then, a voice said, "2.000 gold".
Following that, more voices started to ring out one after another.
"2.100"
"3.300"
"6.000"
...
The girl who previously asked to bid had a stunned expression. She then looked at the middle-aged man reverently and said, "You were right, uncle. Look how much the price has risen in just a few moments."
By now, the price has risen to 10.000 gold, and the people weren't as enthusiastic as before.
I saw how that lady had a satisfied expression when the price rose this much while she looked at the people with a businessperson's gaze and spoke temptingly, "this madam has bid 10.000 gold. Is there anyone who would like to raise the bid and win this item?
But unfortunately, no one bid anything more for what was given. Time passed and a total of 30 items were put up for auction, ranging from B-rank weapons/armors or pills that help you level up, to different materials for professions such as alchemy or blacksmithing.
My mother bought for 78,000 gold a pill that helps EXP collection. For a moment I was surprised, how can you increase the EXP just like that?
But what my mom told me made me think for a while until I saw that it made sense, "honey, the EXP that is gained, is due to the collection of life force and a piece of soul from who you kill, there are races that can absorb more or less depending on what it is, in fact, there are those who use methods to absorb a whole soul, very similar to what you did with your ability, that's why I got so scared. Those methods, unless you have some affinity with death, can drive you crazy."
It seemed that I had the wrong approach and kept thinking of this as a game, instead of being clear that the system in the end is just a representation of your soul and physique, so that everyone can know their strengths and weaknesses.
After a while, the host, whose name was Sierra, announced, "we've come to the end of the auction and here are the last 3 items."
Well, it seems that it is time for the stone to be auctioned as well as to be able to bid on the other items...
I'm busy for 2 days so I can't possibly upload anything.
Enjoy this chapter and comment :)
