Chapter 94: Chapter 94 - Come knocking

A soft pair of hands gently cupped Yunfeng's trembling palm, squeezing it reassuringly. Hana's warm eyes sought his. "I'm sure he'll call… he must be busy."

Yunfeng barely nodded, the weight of her words failing to ease the ache in his chest. With heavy steps, he stumbled up to his room, his head hanging low. Each step felt like dragging chains behind him.

Inside, the air was stifling, the silence oppressive. He slumped onto his bed, staring at the ceiling. "Busy…" he murmured, bitterness seeping into his tone. "Ten days, ten hours, and fifteen minutes. That's how long he's been 'busy.'"

The lump in his throat grew unbearable. He wanted to cry, scream, maybe even punch something, but all he managed was a shaky sigh. His stomach twisted painfully, a gnawing sensation that reminded him of his empty fridge and the ban on alcohol in his house.

At least Hana had left him a box of snacks outside his door. He dragged it inside, ripping open a bag of chips with trembling hands. He stuffed a handful into his mouth, the crunching sound filling the suffocating silence.

But the taste turned to ash on his tongue as tears rolled uncontrollably down his face.

"Was I just… a distraction to him?" he whispered, his voice cracking. "How could he not call? Not even once! Days!" He sobbed harder, his chest heaving as he curled into a ball on his bed, crumbs spilling everywhere.

When he reached to wipe his tears, his sweatshirt rolled up slightly, exposing a faint bulge in his lower abdomen. His hand froze.

"What…" Yunfeng sat up straight, his fingers brushing over the small swell. His breath hitched as a wave of dizziness overtook him.

"No… no, no, no…" He pressed his hand to his stomach again, his heart pounding wildly. "It's not… it can't be…"

The thought barely registered before an overwhelming nausea surged through him. He bolted for the bathroom, barely making it to the sink before he vomited violently. His knees trembled as he gripped the counter, staring at his flushed, tear-streaked reflection.

His face was radiant, his cheeks fuller, his skin glowing unnaturally.

"No… this is impossible," he whispered, his voice trembling.

"AHHHH!" he screamed, gripping his hair.

"Yunfeng?!" Hana's voice rang out as she burst into the bathroom, half-dressed in her school uniform. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Yunfeng sank to the floor, his hands clutching his stomach protectively. His voice cracked as he whispered, "No… I'm not okay. I'm… I'm…"

His eyes welled up again as he choked out the words. "I'm....."

"Ugh," Muchen groaned, glaring at the plate of food in front of him like it had personally insulted him. He pinched his nose, his expression twisted in disgust.

"You've got to be kidding me." Shao rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair. "You begged me to make this, and now you're acting like it's poison?"

"It stinks!" Muchen pushed the plate away with dramatic flair. "Are you sure you didn't use expired meat? Is this your way of getting back at me?"

Shao let out a frustrated sigh, slamming his spoon down. "You said you wanted this after seeing it on some Instagram reel! I've cooked for you three times today, ordered takeout twice, and you've rejected everything!"

Muchen pouted, crossing his arms. "Everything makes me gag. It's not my fault…"

"Oh my god," Shao muttered, rubbing his temples. "You're impossible. Is this because I told you not to see him? It's been ten days, Muchen. just Ten! Get over it."

Muchen slumped over the dining table, glaring at his agent resentfully. "I'm hungry…"

"Then eat! Or don't. I don't care anymore." Shao threw the towel down in frustration. "I'm done catering to your midnight cravings and early-morning tantrums. Bye!"

Muchen watched him storm off, the door slamming behind him. A sly grin spread across his face. "Got him right where I wanted…"

He waited until he heard Shao's snores before sneaking to the living room. His phone was nowhere to be found, but Shao's was conveniently lying on the sofa.

"Perfect." He grabbed it and dashed out of the apartment, heart pounding with excitement. "I'm finally going to see Yunfeng!"

He excitedly drove over to Yunfeng's place, parked in a subtle spot, and dashed to the front entrance. That's when he saw it.

Slur words were spray-painted all over the walls. Eggs had been smashed and dried, leaving grotesque stains.

It made his heart stop for a second.

Ten days… in just ten days, Yunfeng must have faced hell while he was safe and sound somewhere else.

"F**k…" he muttered under his breath, quickly knocking on the door.

Weirdly, no one answered.

"Yunfeng… it's me…" he shouted as loudly as he could.

Thudding footsteps approached the door, and it was thrown wide open.

"Muchen…" Yunfeng whispered before throwing himself into his arms, hugging him as tightly as he could. "You… you asshole…"

"Oh, I missed you." Muchen hugged him back just as tightly, breathing in the familiar, calming orange fragrance that he had missed so much. "Come." He gently tugged Yunfeng toward the car.

"Where?"

"Out… anywhere… just you and me."
