Chapter 64: The Ten Candidate!

-Pallet Town.

Pallet Town was a known place that everyone knew about, it was quite the hotspot for research in Kanto. In the game, it didn't seem like a big place, but that wasn't the reality of the situation.

There were several modern-style houses everywhere, with many business establishments set up here. There were wide acres of land with vast grassy fields where many Tauros and Miltank roamed about.

However, the main attraction of this place was none other than Professor Oak's laboratory. Here, he conducted his research on many Pokemon, mainly the Pokemon of his Region.

Next to the lab was a fenced area that housed different types of Pokemon. These Pokemon were Rapidash, Miltank, Tauros, and so on.

In this field, a few trainers were gathered and watching a battle. Professor Oak was present here and was acting as the judge of the battle.

"Chu-Chu dodge to the side and use Thunder Shock!" A female with blonde hair commanded in a hurry.

"She's moving to the side, follow her, hit her with a low sweep kick!" Machop listened to its trainer's order and quickly swept under Pikachu's body before it could release a Thunder Shock.

Swoosh!

"Pika pika!!" Pikachu was hit so hard that it didn't even trip, instead, it was sent flying through the air.

"Ah, Pikachu!" The blonde-headed girl hurried over to catch Pikachu, and she did so just in time.

"Winner... Ryan." Professor Oak announced with a smile.

"Come on Yellow, you need to step your game up. You won't beat any Gym Leaders like that, come on, haha!" Ryan scoffed in laughter.

"Okay, back off Orange. You won, that's enough, there's no need to gloat about it!" A Violet-headed girl spoke from the side, as she was one of the spectators.

"I don't get it. Why is he so happy about beating a weakling, that doesn't make any sense." The boy that spoke had brown hair, if anyone saw him; they would know that he was Blue!

Blue had a grin across his face, displaying a bit of arrogance.

"You kids are so energetic these days, she'll get better as her journey goes on. There's no need to be mean and look down on others."

Professor Oak scratched his forehead, but he recalled being arrogant back in the day just like his Grandson.

"We'll see, but it doesn't matter to me. I'm a champion in the making, so all of you can look up to me at the Indigo Plateau." Blue held his hand up in I don't know kind of manner with his eyes closed, as he shrugged.

"Blue, you're way too full of yourself, it's disgusting." Orange/Ryan glared at Blue. This guy got on his nerves the most.

"Oh, how about a battle then, to see who has the right to be full of himself or not? If I remember correctly, this would be the like the 30th time I've thrashed you, aren't you like one of those masochists or something?"

"Pfft!"

"Hahaha!"

There were 10 younglings here, they were the ones who were supposed to set off soon. A few of them laughed at hearing Blue's comment because it was true.

"S-so what?! You're not the strongest here, Cyan is! His Pokemon has the type advantage, this is the only reason he can beat us." Orange pointed at Blue and said haughtily.

"That only applies to Red, Green, Yellow, and me. You guys have Pokemon that can potentially win because his Dratini doesn't resist any of you. Pink has beaten him many times before with her Clefairy, so what's your argument, really?"

Blue didn't stand here for long, this guy clearly didn't want to battle him to make his win streak increase to 30. As far as Blue was concerned, if he hung around Orange too long, he might end up becoming a loser just like him.

'Dang it! He gets on my nerves!' Orange gritted his teeth, he was so annoyed with Blue. Orange couldn't wait to catch more Pokemon to defeat him and become the Champion.

Red and Green went over and patted Yellow on the back, offering words of encouragement to her.

"Don't worry, we all have our own journey and dreams to live up to. Once we get out there, we'll catch our own Pokemon and eventually battle one another at our full strength." Green wrapped her arms around Yellow and said happily.

"She's right, all in due time." Red didn't really say much, but he supported her as well.

"You're right, thanks, guys." Yellow smiled before fully checking her Pikachu's condition.

"It's a competition, you can't let other's words get you down. You can think of this as tempering your mind because there will be others trying to prevent you from advancing. It isn't my generation anymore, and my peers used to do the same thing to each other in those days."

Professor Oak sighed with a smile, those were the good old days, huh?

"Yes, Professor, I'll get stronger and show Orange and Blue that they're wrong about me. Most importantly, I'll prove it to myself!" Yellow was a petite girl, though she was the smallest here, Yellow seemed more determined than anyone else.

"Tsk! Whatever!" Orange scoffed.

"Oh, Ryan, shut up." Pink walked over without looking at Orange and continued. "I wanted to give you guys some advice about the Gym in Pewter City." Pink smiled and looked around at the others.

"Oh, do you have some tips?" Cyan, who had been listening and watching this whole time, asked.

"Not really, I just wanted to let you guys know that the first Gym Leader in Pewter City is a Rock-type user." Pink was just relaying this information to them because she had heard it from Gan yesterday.

"Rock type? Ha, that should be easy to deal with then. With my Machop, we'll easily smash through this first Gym Leader." The originally angered Ryan was now happy and confident hearing this; believing it would be easy to earn his first badge.

"Don't think it would be too easy, they're Gym Leaders for a reason. It won't be a walk in the park, sigh, I better prepare myself later." A droopy-eyed teen to the side said. His eyes looked tired and he had Gray hair but his face was really youthful.

"True. I'll have to especially be careful." Red's eyebrow rose, his starter Pokemon didn't have an advantage at all against rock types.

"Sis, where did you hear this from? Mom and Dad wouldn't tell us anything like this because they would want you to find out for yourself. This would make it a mystery, even Professor Oak didn't want to tell us."

The Violet haired girl from before came over, her facial features were so similar to Pink. Without a doubt, as she stated, she was indeed Pink's sister.

"Irelia, someone leaked it. It isn't a big deal, but it's good that everyone knows and prepares to fight him later." Pink didn't plan to hide this from them, they would find out anyway if they asked around in Viridian and Pewter City.

"I guess things will be easier on me, Blue, and Orange. As for you guys, unless you have some Water Grass, Fighting, Steel, and Ground-type Pokemon, it will be a challenge for sure. But most of the rock Pokemon in Kanto have Ground typing as a secondary, so Ice could be good as well."

Green nodded with a smile, she couldn't help but feel satisfied with the first gym leader's typing. The people in Pallet Town purposely never disclaimed what type he could be.

"Haha, well, I guess the cats out of the bag, you guys were bound to find out one day. The first Gym Leader is indeed a rock-type user, his name is Brock. And Gray is right, don't underestimate him because you have a type advantage, it could lead to your undoing."

Professor Oak laughed and confirmed it to everyone before looking at Orange, who clearly thought too highly of himself. Each trainer here had their own starter, there were 10 of them in total.

5 Boys and 5 Girls.

-Red was using his classic Charmander as his starter.

-Blue was using his classic Squirtle as his starter.

-Green was using her classic Bulbasaur as her starter.

-Pink was confirmed to be using a Clefairy as her starter.

-Cyan was using a Dratini as stated recently.

-Yellow was using her classic Pikachu, which she nicknamed Chu-chu.

-Orange was using his Machop, so this was his starter.

There was another girl here with Lavender-colored hair, but she didn't say anything through the whole ordeal but she was listening carefully. Another had Violet hair, this was Pink's sister, she had a skeleton design on her shirt which might have some indications of her starter.

Gray had an Eevee on his head, so it was clear that this was his starter. They all had their unique starter Pokemon for their journeys that were soon to come.

"I better go train some more, this Gym leader will be a challenge." Cyan turned to leave, they all had battled each other already, with Yellow and Orange being the last matchup.

Red nodded, he really needed to train because the odds were really against him. He didn't know that the odds were even against him for the second Gym as well.

"Come on, Machop, let's go train some more. You won't gain anything from beating up weaklings, we need to prepare for the big fishes in this world." Machop nodded before shooting Yellow's Pikachu a mocking grin.

After all, Pokemon took on their trainer's behavior and actions.

"What a jerk!" Yellow couldn't help but say, Orange was far more arrogant than Blue!

"Forget him, Yellow. Let's go train near route one, we can catch some Pokemon around there." Green suggested with a smile.

"Okay, let's go!" Yellow nodded happily before they said bye to everyone and left. Red silently left as well, along with Cyan and the rest.

"Aren't you going off to train with them or by yourself?" The Lavender-headed girl finally spoke when most of everyone had cleared out.

"I only train my Eevee at night, just as you only train yours during the day. So, I guess I'll wait until nighttime to do our special training." Gray stretched his arm into the air and continued. "I think I better go take a little nap or something, I'll see you around, Sunny girl!"

"Hey, I told you not to call me Sunny Girl!" Lavender's eyes and mouth twitched a bit as she glared at Gray.

Meanwhile, Pink and her sister, Violet, left as well. Professor Oak said his goodbyes to all of them, as he wished them many fortunes with their training.

'I need to get some Egg Incubators, my dad should be able to get me some.' Pink thought to herself.

"Aria, you've been in deep thought since you went out yesterday, what's wrong? Did something happen?" Violet had long noticed the change in her sister's behavior, and the change started yesterday.

"No, nothing but I need to get my hands on two Egg Incubators." Pink had to get these for that trainer Gan she met in that Forest.

"Egg Incubators?" Violet was puzzled, was she going to hatch some Pokemon?

"Come on, let's go ask Mom and Dad together. You can ask for one while I ask for one, so do me this favor."

"Uh, okay..." Violet wanted to ask more, but she owed her sister this much. Pink remembered that Gan wanted 2 Egg Incubators.

They're both on bikes, so the pace through Pallet was smooth and fast. Eventually, a Mansion came into view after minutes of riding on their bikes, this was their home.
