When it came to Beedrill, Sato was more than familiar with this Pokémon. Whether in the games or in the manga, Beedrill always had a high level of popularity, primarily due to its impressive power after Mega Evolution and because it was the ace Pokémon of Giovanni.
In the beginning, Sato looked down on Beedrill. A large part of this was because, in the early generations of the games, Beedrill was considered a weak Pokémon.
However, after reading the Pokémon Adventures manga, Sato changed his view of Beedrill. The reason? Giovanni's Beedrill had a spectacular showing in the manga, managing to crush Lance's Dragonite and even defeat Deoxys. Later on, it continued to demonstrate incredible battle prowess.
It was precisely after reading this manga that Sato became a fan of Giovanni, who in the games was seen as a "weak" villain boss. Think about it: Beedrill, a Pokémon that most people would dismiss, was trained by Giovanni to such a high level, proving how terrifying Giovanni's skills as a Trainer really were.
Of course, the Beedrill that caught Giovanni's attention had to be an exceptionally talented one. However, without Giovanni's skillful training, even a Beedrill with great potential wouldn't have become so powerful. As they say, talented horses are common, but brilliant trainers are rare.
When Beedrill gained access to Mega Evolution, Sato completely changed his opinion. The Mega Beedrill, with its Adaptability ability and incredible attack power and speed, was an undeniable force—an absolute sweeper and finishing tool.
In the games, Beedrill with Mega Evolution was a complete turnaround story, going from a weak Pokémon to becoming a powerhouse in competitive play.
In this Pokémon world, Beedrill are quite common. Their growth cycle is alarmingly fast. It only takes a little more than a week for a Weedle to evolve into a Beedrill. Additionally, they have decent combat ability.
Thus, for many rookie Trainers without much background or resources, Beedrill was seen as a quick way to boost their team's strength.
Of course, once most Trainers got past the difficult early stages, they would abandon Beedrill due to its limited long-term potential, opting instead to train Pokémon with greater potential.
There was a time, shortly after Sato arrived in this world, when he thought about capturing a Weedle and training it to become as powerful as Giovanni's Beedrill.
But the harsh reality quickly hit him. Giovanni's Beedrill was almost impossible to replicate. Not every Beedrill had the potential to reach Giovanni's Beedrill's level, and not everyone had access to the same resources and conditions that Giovanni did.
Think about it—who is Giovanni? The only son of the first generation leader of Team Rocket, a favored child of Viridian Forest, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and a genius with special powers.
It's clear that, in addition to Beedrill's natural talent, Giovanni poured endless resources into it, likely treating it with the same care given to pseudo-legendary Pokémon.
What does Sato have now? He has only a mind full of Pokémon knowledge and a system that allows him to detect Pokémon data, but without the ability to assess their true potential. The idea of replicating Giovanni's Beedrill legacy seemed as difficult as scaling a treacherous mountain.
Sato speculated that Giovanni's ability to raise his Beedrill to such heights might be linked to his special powers, known as the Viridian Force. After all, Giovanni's Beedrill was born in Viridian Forest, and it's likely that this mysterious force influenced its growth.
Sometimes, shifting your thinking can lead to unexpected outcomes. If Viridian Forest can bestow its mysterious power on humans, why couldn't it also bestow that power on Pokémon? A Beedrill blessed by Viridian Forest might even have potential beyond that of a pseudo-legendary.
However, Sato didn't have the time to dwell on these possibilities. He had to focus on surviving the imminent threat of a coordinated attack by the six Beedrill.
When the Beedrill appeared, Sato immediately used his system's detection function to gather information on them. After seeing their stats, his tension eased a little.
These six Beedrill were only around level 17 at best, with nearly identical movesets. They hadn't learned any special moves through breeding or technical instruction. It was clear that these Beedrill were merely patrol grunts in the area—something Sato could handle.

"Zubat, use Gust to block the four Beedrill in front, then use Protect to shield against the two attacking from behind!" Facing the sudden ambush from six Beedrill, Sato, who had received a warning from Zubat in advance, quickly assessed the situation and issued the best battle command.
In the next second, following Sato's instructions, Zubat gathered the Flying-type energy around it, summoning a white whirlwind that instantly formed a barrier in front of them. The four Beedrill charging from the front crashed straight into the whirlwind.
Due to the type advantage, Zubat's Gust caused significant damage to the four Beedrill. Two of the weaker ones were thrown outward by the spinning wind and crashed hard to the ground, temporarily losing their ability to battle. The other two were left heavily injured.
Meanwhile, the two Beedrill from behind seized the opportunity. Ignoring Zubat, they aimed their long, poison-tipped stingers directly at Sato, using Twineedle to launch a left-right assault.
With no time to waste, Sato dove forward to avoid the first Beedrill's attack. He then commanded Zubat to use Protect to block the second Beedrill's strike.
A sharp "clang" rang out as the second Beedrill's stingers struck the green energy shield that Zubat had created with Protect. Lacking sufficient power, Beedrill's attack failed to even crack the barrier.
After successfully blocking the Beedrill's attack, Zubat quickly countered with another Gust. This time, the whirlwind spun in the opposite direction, and the Beedrill in front was sucked into it.
Two seconds later, the swirling wind dissipated after moving forward, leaving the Beedrill on the ground, motionless and unable to fight.
In just under a minute, half of the six Beedrill had been taken down, with the remaining two heavily injured. However, Beedrill were notoriously aggressive and known for ganging up on their targets.
Sure enough, just as Zubat finished defeating the three grunt Beedrill, Sato saw another group of Beedrill flying toward them—at least ten more reinforcements.
"These guys really are as numerous as in the anime. One group shows up, and then a whole swarm follows," Sato remarked helplessly, eyeing the approaching Beedrill reinforcements.
Without hesitation, Sato had Zubat use Supersonic on the incoming Beedrill and then turned and sprinted in the opposite direction, Zubat following close behind.
A smart warrior is a warrior who knows when to retreat.
