Chapter 16: Fighting Flyer With Fire

(After a long trip, Mew and her friends have finally arrived at the Violet City Gym, which is a tall purple, spiral-like building.)

(Either way, Mew is officially ready to begin her first gym battle.)

Brock: "It's pretty impressive,"

(Brock says.)

Jen: "It's even better than I thought it'd be!"

(Jen says.)

Tomo: "It looks awesome!"

(Tomo says.)

(Misty says.)

Misty: "I can't wait to see the inside!

Mew: "I can't wait to see the gym leader so we can have our battle! And win my first Johto League badge."

(Mew says.)

(Pikachu and Eevee happily agree.)

(Then turns to her friends.)

Mew: "Come on, let's go inside and get started."

(Suddenly, someone shouts.)

???: "Not so fast, young man!"

(Everyone turns around to see Team Rocket in another one of their disguises.)

(Jessie says.)

Jessie: "We heard what you just said, but before you challenge the Violet Gym leader to a match, we have a few questions for you."

James: "All challengers are required to participate in our little survey,"

(James says.)

Mew: "What kind of survey?"

(Mew says, confused.)

(Then Misty asks.)

Misty: "And excuse me, but are you connected with the Gym in any way?"

James: "Don't we look like we're connected with the Gym?"

(James questions.)

Brock: "You look like ushers at the cineplex,"

(Brock says.)

(But Jessie says.)

Jessie: "We're not ushers! We're with the Pokémon Bureau!"

Mew: "I've never heard of the Pokémon Bureau,"

(Mew says.)

Jen: "Me neither,"

(Jen says.)

Misty: "I have a bureau back in my bedroom,"

(Misty says.)

(But Jessie says.)

Jessie: "IT'S NOT THAT KIND OF BUREAU! It's the governing agency in charge of inspecting all challengers' Pokémon!"

James: "We have to be sure they meet all Violet City Gym standards!"

(James says.)

(Misty turns to Brock and says with a confused look.)

Misty: "I never heard of this, did you?"

Brock: "No! But it sounds pretty official,"

(Brock says.)

Jessie: "We'll start,"

(Jessie says, and picks up Pikachu.)

Jessie: "with this one!"

James: "And don't forget this Eevee,"

(James says, and picks Eevee up.)

(They observe the two Pokemon.)

(Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Too bad. Another grade B Pikachu and Eevee."

James: "It's buggy, bleary-eyed and blubbery! And the other is too fluffy, sparkly eyed, and energetic,"

(James says.)

(Then Jessie says.)

Jessie: "It's a good thing we caught this Pikachu and Eevee before something terrible happened."

James: "Sorry, but we'll have to confiscate these!"

(James says.)

(And Jessie and James dash off.)

Jessie and James: "Bye!"

Mew: "Wait a second!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Jessie and James continue running.)

Jessie: "Gotta run!"

(Jessie says.)

(Then James says.)

James: "Our ride's waiting!"

(They soon run past the building, and soon the hot air balloon begins to carry the group away, with Pikachu and Eevee trapped.)

(Seeing the balloon, Mew and the others realize who they are.)

Mew: "IT'S THEM!"

(Mew exclaims.)

Jessie: Prepare for trouble! It's too late for you!

James: And make it double! We've got Pikachu!

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!

James: To unite all peoples within our nation!

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James: To extend our reach to the stars above!

(Then each of them takes off their disguise.)

Jessie: Jessie!

James: James!

Jessie: Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light, light, light!

James: Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!

Meowth: Meowth, dat's right!

Brock: "I thought it was you!"

(Brock says.)

Misty: "Yeah, but now what do we do?"

(Misty asks.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Pikachu, use Thunder Shock!"

(Pikachu tries to under Thunder shock, but it causes the light on the top of the case to blink.)

Jessie: "Go ahead, shock around the clock if you'd like!"

(Jessie says.)

(And Jams says.)

Jams: "That's because our little insulated jelly jar puts Pikachu in a current jam!"

Meowth: "We're smarter dan we look!"

(Meowth says)

Mew: "They're not as smart as they think they are!"

(Mew says, and throws her Pokeball.)

Mew: "Heracross, I choose you!"

(And Heracross comes out of the Pokeball.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "After em, Heracross! We can't let em take Eevee and Pikachu!"

(Soon, Heracross begins to fly after them.)

Meowth: "If the twerps think Heracross can stop us, they got another thing coming,"

(Meowth says.)

(He gets out a jar and says.)

Meowth: "Some grade A super sap for the super saps."

(Meowth then drops the jar and hits the ground, spilling all over.)

(Heracorss then stops to have a snack.)

Mew: "Heracross, this is no time to eat!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Meowth laughs.)

Meowth: "Looks like the twerps ain't the only suckers!"

Mew: "If we don't do something, they're gonna get away,"

(Mew says.)

(But then Tomo calls out.)

Tomo: "Guys, look!"

Misty: "What's that?"

(Misty asks.)

(Everyone looks up to see something flying behind Team Rocket.)

Mew: "What is that?"

(Mew asks.)

Jen: "Is that a Pokemon?"

(Jen asks.)

Brock: "I don't think so! It looks like a hang-glider!"

(Brock says.)

(Indeed it is, it's a hang-glider.)

(On the hang-glider is a young man with dark blue hair and wears a Japanese male kimono.)

(There is also a Hoothoot on his shoulder.)

(The young man turns to his Pokemon companion.)

young man: "You know what to do, Hoothoot."

(Hoothoot then flies to the balloon and takes the capsule with Pikachu and Eevee inside.)

(Team Rocket cries out.)

Team Rocket: "Hey! Come back with our Pikachu and Eevee!"

Mew: "That guy's Hoothoot just flew off with Pikachu and Eevee!"

(Mew says, shocked.)

(Worried, Misty says.)

Misty: "I bet he's a Pokémon thief, too!"

(Then the Hoothott flies back to its trainer and passes him the capsule.)

young man: "You did an excellent job, Hoothoot,"

(The young man says.)

(Soon, the young man begins to descends from the sky)

Mew: "It looks like he's coming in for a landing,"

(Mew says.)

(And Brock says.)

Brock: "Hey, maybe he's not a Pokémon thief after all."

Jessie: "How dare that kid swoop down and steal what we stole first!"

(Jessie angrily says, and calls out her Pokemon.)

Jessie: "Come here, Arbok!"

(Arbok then pops out from behind Jessie.)

(Jessie commands.)

Jessie: "Use your Poison Sting attack and send that hang-glider into a tailspin!"

(Arbok launches the attack and hits the wing of the hang-glider, and it tears as a result.)

(Soon, the hang-glider and the man begin to fall towards the ground.)

Misty: "They're heading straight for the ground!"

(Misty cries out.)

(Jen panics.)

Jen: "They're gonna crash!

(Seeing their accomplishment, Jessie says.)

Jessie: "Bullseye!"

Meowth: "Right on target!"

(Meowth says.)

James: "Bye, flyboy!"

(James says.)

(With that, the young man jumps off the hang-glider with the captured Pokemon in tow.)

(Hoothoot follows.)

(The young man throws the Pokeball.)

young man: "Pidgeot, go!

(Soon a Pidgeot flies out of the Pokeball and into the air.)

Mew: "Look! A Pidgeot!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Soon, the young man lands on the back of his Pidgeot and flies towards Team Rocket.)

Jessie: "That glider's misguided if he thinks he can get away that easily!"

(Jessie shouts in anger.)

(Then calls out to Arbok.)

Jessie: "Poison Sting again!"

(Arbok fires for another attack.)

(Then the young man says to his Pidgeot.)

young man: "Spin and evade those stingers!"

(Then Pidgeot dodges the attack effortlessly.)

(Then the young man says.)

young man: "Now, Pidgeot, fly by the balloon and tear it up!"

(Pidgeot darts past the balloon, causing it to tear, and sends Team Rocket flying.)

(Meowth screams.)

Meowth: "Uh-oh!"

James: "We got clipped and ripped!"

(James cries out.)

(Jessie cries out.)

Jessie: "Our balloon burst too soon!"

(Then they all scream.)

Team Rocket: "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

(And soon, Team Rocket and the balloon are gone.)

Mew: "Alright!"

(Mew cheers.)

(Even the Pokemon are pleased.)

(Soon the Pidgeot lands on the ground.)

(The young man climbs off the Pidgeot and gives Mew back her Pokemon.)

young man: "I believe this belongs to you."

Mew: "Am I glad you're on our side,"

(Mew says, and removes the jar lid.)

Mew:: "One more loss for Team Rocket, right, Pikachu? Right Eevee?"

(Pikachu and Eevee agree.)

(Hoothoot lands on the young man's shoulder.)

young man: "We're always happy to help a fellow Pokémon trainer, aren't we?"

(The young man says.)

(Pidgeot concurs.)

Misty: "I've never seen a Pidgeot fly that fast!"

(Misty says.)

Mew: "Yeah, and it's a lot bigger than the Pidgeot I have,"

(Mew says.)

(The young man says.)

young man: "Oh, you have a Pidgeot?

Mew: "Sure did. We even got into a battle with a Fearow,"

(Mew says, and remembers when her Pidgeot evolved.)

Mew: "It was attacking a whole bunch of Pidgey and Pidgeotto, not far from Pallet Town. And with the help of my Pidgeot's brother, we were able to defeat the Fearow. Pidgeot and I have had great adventures since I left on my journey and when it's still a little Pidgey."

young man: "I can tell by the way you talk about it, you had a real bond with your Pidgeot,"

(The young man says.)

Mew: "Course I did. I'll never forget that feeling of flying around on its back and battling in the Viridian Forest,"

(Mew says.)

(The young man says.)

young man: "I know what you mean. If you ask me, there's only one thing better than watching a Pidgeot in the sky. And that is flying around in the sky with it. They're a reliable, trustworthy, and very brave Pokémon."

(Then Misty says.)

Misty: "I guess flying Pokémon must be your favorites, huh?"

young man: "They are. Someday, I wanna be known as the greatest flying Pokémon trainer that ever lived,"

(The young man says.)

Brock: "Why do you like flying types so much?"

(Brock asks

(Then the young man points to the sky.)

young man: "That's why. I've always wanted to fly through the sky. When I was a little boy, all I ever did was dream about flying. And now that I have flying Pokémon, I can."

Tomo: "That must be why you started hang-gliding,"

(Tomo says.)

young man: "Well, I really started gliding because I thought it'd help me to understand my flying Pokemon better,"

(The young man says.)

Mew: "That's a great idea,"

(Mew says.)

(Then the young man says.)

???: "I suppose you've heard a lot of trainers say that flying Pokémon don't stand a chance against electric Pokémon. It gets me so MAD when people put down flying Pokémon!"

(Misty agrees.)

Misty: "Good for you! My favorite Pokémon are water types and it seems like people are always underestimating them the same way. Some trainers need to smarten up and see how great water Pokémon really are."

(Then Mew says.)

Mew: "These are my friends, Misty, Brock, Tomo, and Jen, and all our Pokemon."

(Then introduces herself.)

Mew: "My name is Mew.

(Then the young man says.)

Falkner: "And I'm Falkner, the Violet City gym leader. Hi."

(Everyone becomes shocked.)

Mew: "Did you say gym leader?"

(Mew says, shocked.)

Misty: "That's what he said,"

(Misty adds, surprised.)

Falkner: "Yeah. Maybe I shoulda mentioned that sooner,"

(Falkner says.)

(Soon, the group are heading up the elevator towards the roof.)

Falkner: "This is a little weird, I don't usually make friends with the Pokemon trainers that come here before I have to battle with them. But a match is a match, right? We have to battle hard, friends or not,"

(Falkner says.)

Mew: "Yeah. Definitely,"

(Mew sas.)

(Soon, they reach the roof.)

Falkner: "Well, this is it,"

(Falkner says.)

(Soon, everyone arrives on the roof, which is actually a Pokemon battle field.)

(Falkner announces.)

Falkner: "WELCOME TO THE VIOLET GYM!"

(Soon, Mew and her friends also see a group of people as well.)

Misty: "They must be his cheering section,"

(Misty says.)

Jen: "Or student,"

(Jen replies.)

(Brock asks.)

Brock: "Hey, Mew, are you okay?"

Mew: "Sure, I'm okay. We come to win a badge, and we'll do our best to win it. Right, Pikachu? Right, Eevee?"

Pikachu and Eevee: "Pika!/Eev!" (Right!)

(Pikachu and Eevee reply.)

(Then the referee announces.)

the referee: "The official Johto League battle between Mew, the challenger from Pallet Town, and Falkner, the Violet Gym leader will now begin! At stake is the Zephyr Badge! Each will use three Pokémon! Begin the match when ready!"

Mew: "I'm ready! And you better be ready, too! Ready to have a battle!"

(Mew says.)

Falkner: "I'm ready as I'll ever be, my friend,"

(Falkner says.)

Falkner: "There's a reason I'm the Violet City Gym Leader, you've seen what my flying Pokémon have done for you..."

(And brings out his Pokeball.)

Falkner: "now you're going to see what they do...TOOOO YOU!"

(And with that, Falkner's first Pokemon to be sent out is Hoothoot.)

(Mew then turns to Eevee.)

Mew: "Alright Eevee, I choose you."

Eevee: "Eevee." (Got it!)

(Eevee says and gets on the battlefield.)

Falkner: "Hmm, quite an interesting choice. A Normal Type doesn't have that many weaknesses,"

(Falkner says.)

Mew: "Well, it's best you don't underestimate this Eevee. She's strong,"

(Mew says.)

Falkner: "I can tell that this Eevee has been raised well, but just remember, this match won't be easy,"

(Falkner says.)

(The referee announces.)

The referee: "Begin!"

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Okay Eevee, use your swift attack!"

(Eevee performs the Swift Attack.)

Falker: "Hoothoot, fly away,"

(Falker says.)

(And Hoothoot takes to the sky, evading the attack.)

(Then Falkner says.)

Falkner: "Take out that Eevee with your Tackle attack, Hoothoot!"

(Hoothoot then flies forward.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Now Eevee, use Agility so Hoothoot can't tackle you!"

(Eevee begins to pick up speed, and she's running so fast, that it's almost like she disappeared.)

(She then reappears and disappears.)

Falkner: "Hoothoot! Climb before it uses the next attack!"

(Falkner calls out.)

(Hoothoot begins to gain altitude as Eevee charges.)

(Suddenly, Eevee shows some electric sparks.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Now Eevee, use your Thunderbolt!"

Falkner: "Hoothoot!"

(Falkner calls out.)

(Hoothoot flies high, but Eevee's electricity attack climbs higher, and zaps Hoothoot.)

(Then Hoothoot crashes to the ground.)

(Of course, it's a surprise because usually, Eevee don't usually use Thunderbolt.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Alright, Eevee, now let's finish Hoothoot off with a Quick Attack!"

Eevee: "Eevee!" (On it!)

(Eevee says.)

(Eevee then charges forward and strikes Hoothoot with the Quick Attack, sending Hoothoot flying into Falkner's hands.)

Falkner: "Hoothoot, are you okay?"

(Falkner asks in concern.)

(Hoothoot is knocked out.)

(The referee announces.)

The referee: "Eevee is the winner!"

(The group cheers for Mew's victory.)

Misty: "They did it!"

(Misty cheers.)

Brock: "Hoothoot was good, but Eevee had the type advantage that time,"

(Brock says.)

Jen: "Bet they didn't expect Eevee to actually use Thunderbolt,"

(Jen says.)

Falkner: "It's no big deal to lose a battle on the ground. You did a fine job, Hoothoot. You deserve a good, long rest,"

(Falkner and calls back Hoothoot.)

(Misty wonders.)

Misty: "I wonder which Pokémon Falkner is gonna use this time."

Brock: "Who knows?"

(Brock replies.)

Brock: "It's gotta be some flying Pokemon, though. Maybe he'll decide to use Pidgeot now."

Tomo: "Maybe, but who knows what other Pokemon Falkner has,"

(Tomo says.)

(Then Falkner throws his next Pokeball.)

Falkner: "Alright, time for a surprise!"

(Soon out of the Pokeball is a Dodrio.)

Mew: "It's a Dodrio!"

(Mew says, surprised.)

Falkner: "Unfortunately for you, none of my opponents have defeated Dodrio. Once they begin to battle, trainers discover that three heads are much worse than one!"

(Falkner says.)

Brock: "Ahhh, interesting choice,"

(Brock says.)

Misty: "Absolutely. Very interesting!"

(Misty says.)

Jen: "That Dodrio looks strong,"

(Jen says.)

(Mew says.)

Mew: "A non flying flying type Pokemon like Dodrio is a very interesting choice."

(Then the referee announces.)

the referee: "Begin!"

Falkner: "We'll let her make the first move this time,"

(Falkner says.)

(Then Mew says.)

Mew: "Okay, Eevee, your agility worked before, let's try it again!"

(And Eevee begins to use Agility.)

Falkner: "You heard him, Dodrio. Use your Agility, too,"

(Falkner says.)

(Dodrio charges in as Eevee starts to appear and disappear again.)

(However, is undeterred as they both run towards each other.)

Brock: "Dodrio is matching Eevee's Agility move for move!"

(Brock says.)

(Then Misty says, surprised.)

Misty: "If this keeps up, the battle's gonna go on forever!"

Mew: "Okay, Eevee, that Dodrio has good Agility, but it can't run away from your Thunderbolt!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Eevee begins to charge, but Falkner sees it coming.)

(So he calls out.)

Falkner: "Don't try to run, Dodrio! Fly away, instead!"

(Eevee performs the attack, but Dodrio leaps so high in the air that it almost feels like it's flying.)

Mew: "Nice move,"

(Mew says.)

Brock: "That's what Falkner meant! Dodrio jumped so high it's almost like it CAN fly!"

(Brock says, surprised.)

Jen: "That's really high,"

(Jen says.)

(Then Falkner calls out.)

Falkner: "Keep it up, now, Dodrio! Use Fury Attack!"

(Dodrio then comes back down and uses Fury attack to peck all three of its beak angrily at Eevee in one shot.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Hang in there!"

(Then Falkner says.)

Falkner: "Go, Dodrio! Get ready to flatten it!"

(Dodrio leaps high.)

(Then Falkner says.)

Falkner: "That's it, Dodrio! Use your Drill Peck attack!"

(Then Dodrio performs the Drill Peek with all three beaks, and nails at Eevee.)

Mew: "EEVEE!"

(Mew and her friends cry out.)

(Eevee lands on the ground, and struggles to get up.)

(After taking that many hits, Eevee is still able to stand.)

Falkner: "This match is going to be mine. Dodrio, finish it off with your Tri Attack!"

(Falkner calls out.)

(Dodrio opens their mouths and beams of light shoot from each forming a glowing triangle.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Don't give up, Eevee! Jump just like Dodrio did!"

(Eevee acts fast.)

(She leaps and lands on Dodrio's middle head, stopping the attack.)

(Eevee uses the head to gain extra boost and she's flying in the air.)

Falkner: "Dodrio!"

(Falkner says, shocked.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Now finish it off with a Thunder attack, Eevee!"

(Eevee performs the attack and it lands on Dodrio, and Falkner's Dodrio falls to the ground.)

(Falkner's followers cheer.)

Falkner's followers: "Let's go, Dodrio! Let's go, Dodrio! Let's go, Dodrio! Let's go, Dodrio!"

Falkner: "Come on, Dodrio! Show them how tough you are!"

(Falkner says.)

(Soon, Dodrio gets up.)

(Mew is shocked.)

Mew: "No way! It can't keep going after that!"

(Suddenly, Mew notices how exhausted Eevee is, and so is Dodrio.)

(Just then, both Eevee and Dodrio collapsed on the ground, and they're both unable to battle.)

(The referee announces.)

The referee: "It's a draw."

Mew: "Eevee,"

(Mew says, and rushes to Eevee.)

(She then picks up Eevee and says.)

Mew: "You did great taking on two Pokemon. You deserved a good rest."

(Eevee slowly nods her head.)

(Mew then walks over to her friends and gives Eevee to Jen so she can rest.)

(Then walks back to her position so she can battle.)

Falkner: "That's okay. You showed plenty of spirit back there, Dodrio. You deserve a good, long rest,"

(Falkner says, and returns Dodrio to its Pokeball.)

Brock: "This is Falkner's last Pokémon!"

(Brock says.)

Misty: "I think we all know what it'll be!"

(Misty says.)

(Falkner then calls out.)

Falkner: "Go, Pidgeot!"

(And Pidgeot comes out of the Pokeball.)

(Then Tomo asks.)

Tomo: "I wonder which Pokemon Mew is going to choose?"

Jen: "Yeah. She has so many and some of them are good flying types,"

(Jen says.)

(Mew then says.)

Mew: "I only need to defeat one more Pokemon, and that Pidgeot is strong."

(She then brings out her Pokeball and says.)

Mew: "And I know just who to choose."

(She throws her Pokeball and calls out.)

Mew: "Charizard, I choose you!"

(Charizard comes out and lands on the ground with a thump in front of Pidgeot.)

Falkner: "So Charizard's up now, huh? Things are finally gonna get interesting,"

(Falkner says.)

(The two then stare each other down, and ready to battle.)

(Then the referee announces.)

the referee: "Begin!"

(Falkner makes the first move.)

Falkner: "Now, fly, Pidgeot!"

Mew: "You, too, Charizard!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Soon, both Pokemon take to the sky.)

(Mew then calls out the attack.)

Mew: "Charizard, use your Flamethrower!"

(Charizard fires the Flamethrower.)

Falkner: "Pidgeot, you've gotta get out of the way!"

(Falkner calls out.)

(Pidgeot dodges the attack effortlessly.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Quick, Charizard! Try another Flamethrower attack!"

(Charizard another attack.)

Falkner: "Pidgeot, Agility!"

(Falkner calls out.)

(Pidgeot flies past the flames so fast that it disappears and reappears a few times.)

Mew: "It's too fast!"

(Mew says, shocked.)

Falkner: "Using Agility, it reaches a speed of Mach 2. I suggest you give up before it's too late,"

(Falkner says.)

(But Mew says.)

Mew: "We'll never give up, no matter what!"

(And calls out.)

Mew: "Charizard, Flamethrower!"

(Charizard then performs another Flamethrower.)

(Then Falkner calls out.)

Falkner: "Pidgeot, Whirlwind attack!"

(Pidgeot then performs the attack, and sends Charizard back, causing it to land on the ground hard.)

Mew: "Charizard! Are you alright?!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Charizard is able to stand.)

Falkner: "We've got them on the run, Pidgeot! Try a Wing Attack!"

(Falkner calls out.)

(Pidgeot dives at Charizard.)

Mew: "Another fire attack will just come back at us,"

(Mew says.)

(Then calls out to her Pokemon.)

Mew: "Charizard, try a Fly attack!"

(Charizard tries to fly away, but is unable to fly.)

(Mew notices it right away.)

Mew: "Oh no."

(Then Pidgeot is able to land the attack.)

Brock: "Why didn't Charizard fly away?!"

(Brock asks.)

Misty: "It's wing! It must be injured!"

(Misty says, shocked.)

Mew: "Charizard! Please try to stand up!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Charizard then stands up.)

(Then Falkner calls out.)

Falkner: "Time to finish him off once and for all, Pidgeot! Use Quick Attack, now!"

(Pidgeot then charges and slams hard into Chairzard's stomach.)

Misty: "This looks bad!"

(Misty says, worried.)

(Then Brock calls out.)

Brock: "Mew! Do something or you're gonna lose the match!"

Mew: "I know. I just need to think,"

(Mew says.)

(Suddenly. Falkner says.)

Falkner: "Forfeit."

Mew: "FORFEIT?!"

(Mew says, shocked.)

(Falkner says.)

Falkner: "It's supposed to be a trainer's responsibility to judge whether his Pokemon can continue to battle or not. And you've got a Charizard that can't even fly anymore... WHAT'S THE POINT OF BATTLING ANYMORE!? A Charizard that can't fly, can't win a match."

Mew: "Oh, yeah?! Well, my Charizard isn't a quitter and neither am I!"

(Mew says.)

(Charizard stands up straight and glares at Falkner.)

Falkner: "Whatever you say, Mew. Maybe losing this battle will teach you a lesson,"

(Falkner says.)

(Then commands the next attack.)

Falkner: "Pidgeot, hit Charizard with your best Quick Attack, now!"

(Pidgeot darts forward at full speed and Falkner shouts.)

Falkner: "FINISH IT!"

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "I never ask you to do anything I know you can't do Charizard, and now I need you to FLY!"

(Charizard's wings flap up and his eyes grow wide before swooping into the sky, causing the quick attack to miss.)

Mew: "I knew you could do it!"

(Mew cheers.)

(Then Falkner says.)

Falkner: "Your Charizard may be able to fly, but can it fly fast?!"

(Mew then keeps a determined look.)

(In the sky, Charizard is in mid air and is getting behind Pidgeot.)

(Falkner calls out.)

Falkner: "Pidgeot, use your Agility attack, quick!"

(Pidgeot vanishes and reappears behind Charizard.)

(Falkner calls out.)

Falkner: "Go Pidgeot! Try your Quick Attack again! NOW!"

(Pidgeot darts at Charizard, and strikes at it, but Charizard remains air board and gets behind Pidgeot again.)

Falkner: "Fly around as much as you want. Nothing's gonna change,"

(Falkner says.)

(Pidgoet then uses Agility again, and performs a Quick attack at Charizard.)

Mew: "He's right. His Pidgeot is just gonna keep using the same attacks,"

(Mew says.)

(Soon she realizes something.)

Mew: "Wait a minute! If Pidgeot keeps using the same attacks over and over again, maybe we still have a chance to win."

(With a plan in mind, Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Okay, Charizard, fly behind Pidgeot and grab it!"

(Once more, Charizard flies towards Pidgeot from behind.)

Falkner: "You don't know when to give in!"

(Falkner says.)

(And calls out.)

Falkner: "Pidgeot, Quick Attack!"

(Pidgeot disappears again.)

(Then, Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Charizard, quick! Turn around and use Fire Spin!"

(Charizard turns around and performs Fire Spin.)

(As Pidgeot appears, the attack surrounds the flying Pokemon, and it begins to flap wildly in a panic, trying to escape.)

(Falkner cries out.)

Falkner: "PIDGEOT, NO!

(Brock calls out.)

Brock: "HURRY UP, MEW! DON'T LET PIDGEOT FLY AWAY!"

Tomo: "NOW'S YOUR CHANCE!"

(Tomo calls out.)

(Then Mew calls out the final attack.)

Mew: "NOW! Grab hold of Pidgeot, and finish it off with a Seismic Toss!"

(Charizard flies in, grabs Pidgeot and performs the Seismic Toss by flying into a circle.)

(Then flies down and crashes Pidgeot to the ground with hard force.)

(Falkner's followers chant.)

Falkner's followers: "Pidgeot, get up! Pidgeot, get up! Pidgeot, get up!"

(Pidgeot struggles to get up, but unable to have the strength, Pidgeot collapses and is knocked out.)

(Falkner rushes over.)

Falkner: "Are you okay?

(Seeing the result, the referee calls out.)

the referee: "And the challenger, Mew from Pallet Town, is the winner!"

(Mew cheers.)

Mew: "Congratulations, Charizard!"

(Charizard lets out a mighty roar.)

Charizard: "ROOOOOAR!"

(and begins blasting flames into the sky in victory.)

(Mew runs over and gives Charizard a hug.)

(Later that evening, after Mew's victory.)

Falkner: "It was really smart for you to use Pidgeot's speed to your advantage. That was a great strategy. You definitely earned the Zephyr badge,"

(Falkner says, and presents the Zephyr badge.)

Mew: "Thanks, that's nice of you to say,"

(Mew says.)

(Then looks to see her first Johto League Badge.)

(It is shaped like a pair of silver wings.)

(Mew then shows it to Pikachu and Eevee.)

Mew: "Look guys, we got the Zephyr Badge."

Pikachu: "Pi Pikachu!" (That's our first badge.)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee," (Our very first one.)

(Eevee says.)

Falkner: "Battling you has inspired me to learn more and train harder. That's the only way I'll reach my goal of becoming the number one flying Pokemon trainer. I hope you have good luck in the Johto League,"

(Falkner says.)

Mew: "Thanks, and good luck to you,"

(Mew says.)

(Then they both shake hands.)

(Soon, Mew and her friends say their goodbyes and head off to their next adventure in Johto.)

(Now that Mew has earned her first badge, she's flying high as the group continue to make their way to the next gym.)

(Meanwhile, Team Rocket's downed balloons have landed in the woods as Fearow circles overhead, and some Spearows are pecking them on their heads.)

(James cries.)

James: "Quit pecking on me!

Jessie: "Our big plan laid an egg!"

(Jessie asks.)

Meowth: "Dis ending is definitely for da boids! And we already got an egg, already!"

(Meowth screams.)

(And from the looks of it, it seems that the Fearow and Spearow are going to give them quite the headache.)
