Chapter 139: 139. Civil War

After getting the Glacier Badge from the Mahogany Town Gym, Ash and the others can finally move towards Blackthorn City. The Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon of the Kanto Region, Dratini, was waiting right their for him!

"Big Brother, look at that!"

Molly climbed onto Meganium's neck again, meaning her view was much higher than theirs, "Look at those Oddish's!"

Yes, under a tree in front, there were three Oddish lying sickly. They looked injured and kind of depressed.

"These Oddish look very weak!" Misty said worriedly.

Oddish is a common Grass-type Pokémon in Kanto and Johto Regions. It looks like a dark blue creature with two legs and big grass growing from their head.

Brock quickly treated the three Oddish's, and after eating his Pokémon food, they quickly regained some of their energy.

The recovered Oddish clamored to ask Ash and his party for help.

Seeing someone asking for his help on the road, Ash would not leave the matter of Pokémon alone to solve, so the group quickly followed the Oddish to a beautiful grassland.

In the center of this grassland is a huge old looking tree.

"What a big tree!" Molly has never seen such a big tree in her short life.

As soon as they caught sight, they saw a few Vileplume and Bellossom fighting fiercely against each other for some reason.

Even though they were getting angry, the most terrifying thing that happened was the Grass-type Pokémon gathering together.

Moves like Stun Spore sprayed all over the place, and Ash was quick enough that he quickly asked his Meganium to use Safeguard to avoid falling into any of the various Status Conditions.

"Meganium, use a quick Sweet Scent on them!"

The sweet but fresh floral fragrance fell between the Bellossoms and Vileplumes, quickly calming down their anger and stopping their attacks from spreading.

"Why are you guys fighting?" Ash squatted in front of them, a little confused. But they both looked at each other with hostility, then snorted and walked away.

At this time, a young man wearing a researcher's white coat ran over and said, "Hey, were you the ones who stopped them from quarreling? Thank you!"

When the young man saw the Oddish beside Ash and his group, he was immediately worried and knelt down to check. After knowing that they were safe, he felt relieved and said, "It's great that you are all fine! You disappeared suddenly without telling me anything. I was so worried about you three going missing!"

Knowing that it was Ash and his team who saved them, the researcher thanked them again, "My name is Steven, and I am doing research on the Pokémon's living here."

It turns out that this grassland has plenty of sunshine and rivers nearby, so it is home to many Grads-type Pokémon, including Oddish, Gloom, and the evolved forms of Gloom, that being Vileplume and Bellossom.

Gloom will evolve into Vileplume when touching a Leaf Stone, and it will evolve into Bellossom when touching a Sun Stone.

Pokémon is such a magical creature, aren't they?

They originally had their own territory and lived separately.

"But, if there are a lot of Vileplume and Bellossom here, does that mean there are a lot of Leaf Stone and Sun Stone here?" This was a question raised by Molly. After listening to Ash's introduction on how they evolved, she immediately realized the problem.

"Yes, you are very smart! The secret is in the wind passing by here!" Apparently Steven has found out the secret of the evolution of Bellossom and Vileplume!

Just when the group was confused by what he was saying, the wind began to blow!

Steven looked at the wind direction and said, "That there is the northeast wind. Which means the Glooms are going to evolve into Vileplume!"

Everyone was shocked, as Steven had just predicted, under the breeze, the light of evolution appeared on several of the Glooms that were basking in the sun!

Then, they all evolved into a Vileplume!

Molly was stunned after seeing so many evolutions in a single moment, "It's so beautiful!"

"I don't know the complete details. But in short, when the northeast wind blows, Gloom evolve into a Vileplume! And when the northwest wind blows, Gloom evolves into a Bellossom!" This is a pattern discovered by Steven after a long period of observation here.

At the same time, he also had his own guess, "I believe that the northeasterly wind are mixed with the Leaf Stone particles, while the northwest wind are mixed with the Sun Stone particles."

This is indeed a relatively reasonable speculation, at least from what Ash and the others saw.

These Leaf Stone and Sun Stone particles slowly accumulated on Gloom's body after being blown by the wind. In a certain gust of wind, the amount of a certain evolutionary stone reached a critical value.

This is the so-called qualitative change caused by a quantitative change, which makes Gloom evolve into the form of whatever particles they have more of in their body.

"It's so beautiful, it's like the magic of the wind!" Misty and Molly said in unison, this kind of thing is a bit romantic to them.

"But, there lies the problem!" Steven took Ash and his party under the big tree in the middle of the grassland.

"This giant tree, which is thousands of years old, is the main reason for the quarrel between Bellossom and Vileplume."

It no surprise that such a huge tree naturally has a huge shade. Grass-type Pokémon like sunlight, and they also maintain the phototaxis of plants.

In the morning, Bellossom's territory was under the shade of the trees, so the Bellossoms came to Vileplume's territory and were treated as intruders and began to fight.

But in the afternoon, the shade came to Vileplume's territory, so the Vileplume go to the Bellossom's territory, and they began to fight again.

Now that the fight started again, and moves like Stun Spore was spraying everywhere near the here. Fortunately, Meganium's Safeguard was there to protect Ash and his party from being under any of the Status Conditions.

"Sweet Smell!"

This time the dispute was once again stopped by Ash. The Bellossom and Vileplume snorted coldly and turned away again, just like some time ago.

"Ash, thank you. I tried to stop them several times before, but every time I couldn't stop these guys from running away from home because they couldn't bear it!" Steven was very grateful to Ash for being able to stop them in this way.

"Is there no way to reconcile them?" Brock also knows that fighting twice a day like this is really not an option when there could be other things to worry about. "Big Brother, is there anything you can do to help them out?"

It is impossible to remove this thousand-year-old ancient tree. The only way is to get rid of the Vileplume and Bellossom groups from under here.

But the problem is that the wind here continues to evolve the Glooms into Vileplumes and Bellossoms, thus constantly strengthening the power of the two groups, and this dispute is getting more and more intense as the day goes on!

Right in front of this giant tree, Vileplume and Bellossom lined up and faced off agian!

As the wind blows, Glooms continue to evolve into Vileplume and Bellossom, joining the ranks of their respective tribes!

Ash and his group could only watch from a distance. It was meaningless to stop them once because they will just continue on with their fight after he leaves. They needed to solve this matter once and for all or things will get worse for everyone living here.

But at this moment, a large net descended from the sky and captured many of the Vileplumes and Bellossoms.

"Who is it?" Ash and his group hurried over.

No need to guess who the people are. It is Team Rocket, again. They seem to have suffered the consequences of a dose Stun Spore. Now they are fully armed and have prepared a large net to capture Vileplume and Bellossom.

"Twerp, what are you here for?" The Rocket Trio were also surprised when they saw Ash. Apparently they didn't expect that they would be so close to each other and meet so soon after the last whooping.

But Ash smiled and said, "Don't worry about me yet, you are in big trouble!"

Vileplume and Bellossom, who were constantly fighting, actually united and stood side by side, spraying their Stun Spores crazily, forming a cloud of yellow mist that spread towards Team Rocket.

"That kind of thing is no longer effective on us!" Team Rocket seemed to be fully prepared for these kind of situations.

Seeing that the Stun Spore was ineffective, the Vileplume and Bellossom group suddenly became angry. The two extremely large groups surrounded the Rocket Trio and rushed up to punch and kick them!

Their attack methods are not just powder!

The Rockets Trio were beaten terribly, and they quickly asked Ash for help, "Boss-man, we know we were wrong, please blow us away!"

Hearing this, Ash smiled happily and said, "Your wish is my command! You know what to do, right Pikachu?!"

Pikachu blow the Rocket Trio away with one of his signature Thunderbolts. After their fuss, the two groups of Bellossom and Vileplume got along preety well. After all, they all evolved from Gloom and Oddish. There is no reason that they would not recognize the original one once they evolved. A companion.

Sure enough, sometimes the best way to resolve internal disputes is to have a evil group who is beaten up by them.

Now they can live in peace without fighting too much, hopefully.
