Chapter 4: Chapter 4

He walked quite a lot on the day of his departure, but night time still came and so he camped in route 201 for the night and made it to Sand Gem town the in 3 days time arriving at noon.

Would've probably taken him less time but he decided to train along the way, he did the usual exercise alongside Mercury and then oversee his training over his moves, after a while of that he sat down again to meditate in order to get a feel of aura more.

It seemed like he has a higher chance of ''seeing'' or maybe its more like sensing? Anyway he had a higher chance of succeeding in bringing out his aura whenever Mercury was training since that's when it was at its maximum output so to speak, he can't seem to do anything whenever he's resting. He had asked him if he could maybe try and connect with him instead of the other way around since he would know how to utilize it more.

Turns out he can feel my emotions as depicted by his pokédex entry but he can't exactly communicate with me through it just yet, I think our aura isn't as strong for that just yet so I'll have to wait until he evolves, I know a Lucario is able to communicate with their someone through aura so I'll just have to be patient.

I still decided to sit down and try to feel both my own and his aura every time he practiced though, sadly I can't feel my own at all, I'm just going to assume my 'output' isn't high enough yet.

We decided to not waste our time in this town since there was nothing interesting for us here so we left the following morning to make our way to Jubilife city, that's where we'll be encountering my next Pokémon after all.

While walking to the forest leading to our next destination I decided it was about time we had a fight against an actual Pokémon instead of destroying the trees Mercury usually practiced on.

I wanted him to fight against a starly since I knew they were everywhere but every time we initiated a fight with Vacuum wave they just flew away shortly after. Would've been nice to have one of them to eat I'm not going to lie, I'm starting to get tired of eating berries and canned food and Mercury feels the same way he is a growing boy after all he needs his proteins from something other than berries and canned food since i had stopped feeding him Moomoo Milk a week after he hatched.

Rustling

I turn around to stare at the rustling bush to see what comes out, if its anything above our paygrade we'll have to make a run for it, I'm not too keen on suffering a terrible fate just a few days into our journey.

''Mercury get ready, depending on the situation we might have to run and don't look at me like that if I say we run we will run.''

''Rio'' reluctantly agreed Mercury not wanting to run away from his very first fight.

And just a second later..

''Bun''

Sigh

Relaxing his guard seeing it just be a buneary instead of something worse he decided to capitalize on this opportunity for a fight.

''Mercury, use [Quick Attack]!'' ordered Kyrean

''Riolu!''

''Bun?'' Buneary seeing the Pokémon rushing at it was confused at first but then realized the situation and got ready to fight back but it reacted a little too late.

''Bun!'' Buneary being hit by the attack got thrown back until it came to a stop and decided to use a special move. [Baby-Doll Eyes]

''Rio?'' Mercury seeing it acting all cute was unsure for a second and began to feel weaker but decided to ignore it since he was too excited for his first real fight and wouldn't hold back!

''Its trying to lower your attack output huh. Cunning little thing, Mercury use [Vacuum Wave]''

''Ri!''

Since it lowered his attack output it was time to switch to special attack moves.

Gathering aura in his paws Mercury began to shoot at his opponent in a rapid manner, though the buneary tried its best to dodge it was futile as in the end it succumbed.

''Riolu!'' celebrated Mercury

''Alright! That was our first win against another Pokémon we just need one against a trainer now and see how well we do.''

It took them another few days of trekking the forest but they finally reached Jubilife city!

During these past few days he finally got to eat something other than canned food and berries and even though he didn't have the proper seasoning the avian Pokémon was a decent change of diet.

With the type differences that first wild battle they had lost was against a starly but to be fair even though the starly had the type advantage it was losing at first, first it tried to peck Mercury but releasing it was a bad idea to do after the jab he received he decided to fly away thinking he couldn't be touched in the sky but then he got blasted by Vacuum Waves.

Shortly after that a flock of them came to the rescue and we were forced to run.

Strangely enough it was kind of fun, or maybe I'm just a maniac.

We managed to evade them by hiding in a bush for about an hour.

I felt like Mercury had a decent enough understanding on how to use the two moves we've been practicing for about 2 weeks now so I decided to move onto Blaze kick and Bullet Punch.

Having a priority Steel type move will help against our first gym battle and with the next Pokémon I want for the party we just might be able to get the badge.

We'll be staying here a while to practice a bit more and maybe get myself a Pokétch, in my time in Sand Gem town they were talking about the ruckus that Team Rocket caused by selling fake ones that Ash and his gang managed to stop so the real ones should be circulating in the market again by now.

'For now let's go check in at the Pokémon Center and get myself a room for the night, tomorrow I'll go north from here to route 204 and try my luck.'

''Let's go see nurse Joy to check in your condition just in case, you've been training like crazy I want to make sure everything is alright.''

''Ri'' nodded riolu while having his arms crossed around his chest while walking slowly besides Kyrean.

Smiling wryly, 'This little shit has been acting all cool lately with all the battles we've won its like he forgot the way we had to run away from the flock of starly just a few days ago.'

Due to that shameful defeat and humiliation Mercury has made it his life goal to stomp on all starly he sets his eyes upon, though we've been eating good so I can't complain...much.
