Chapter 792: CH172 (786), That’s A Lot Of New Pokemon (5)

It was one bug entry after the other after Rabsca, at least until Entry 263 which was on a psychic type, and not just any psychic, but a new one. To me, Flittle honestly looked like a yellow chick doll with yellow and pink frills extending from its belly area. Frankly, from what I could see in the picture, Flittle was lucky that it could apparently levitate because it had very tiny feet, which would have made walking a real hassle for the little chick. Still, I could not deny that Flittle looked very cute and I would have definitely captured one if it had been prevalent around alliance territory because a cute psychic like that would have made for a good childhood companion for a psychic like me.

Together with Natu, I would have had a duo of psychic chicks to keep me company and if it had been a female, she could have eventually hooked up with Horus/Xatu, though I had to add that unlike Natu, Flittle was a pure psychic type which I could understand since it really looked like Flittle actually did not have any wings to use to fly even if it wanted to. Anyway, that was what I thought as I moved on to the next entry, which had me stop and stare at the result of Flittle's evolution. My first thought was "Oh, an ostrich straight from Alabasta" before it turned to "How could cute little Flittle turn into this?" before finally settling on "Hmm, it actually does not look bad at all".

Well, Espartha kept the pure psychic type and while it appeared to have wings unlike its prevolution, I was pretty sure that any kind of flying it did would mostly rely on its psychic powers since ostriches were usually earthbound, and I suspected that the same was true for Espartha as well. Still, my first slightly confused reaction aside, Espartha looked pretty great. It was a bit weird but each time I looked at its picture I kind of felt like I liked its looks a bit more. I would have definitely loved to have a bunch of them in Utopia and probably even on my team. Well, as long as its racial value was not total shit that was.

Regardless, I moved on to the next entry which happened to be on Hippopotas, so I directly began to skip again. A few cool ground types later I saw an entry on the Volcarona line followed by the Salamance line. This was the third pseudo-legendary/apex line I saw, or more like the 4th one, if we added the Slaking line, and along with the other top species lines I had seen I had to say that Paldeans were rather lucky to have so many impressive Pokemon in their regions. Granted from the description of the Joy in the 1st edition Paldea was a very large region, but still, my point stood.

Anyway, I came upon an entry on yet another new species after Salamance, and funnily enough it was listed as a fairy type. More precisely, Tinkatink was listed as a fairy/steel type, and the Pokemon in the picture showed a little pink humanoid that looked a bit like a cute baby doll. That it actually held what looked like a baby rattle supported that impression though a closer look revealed that the rattle seemed to be made of steel, which given its typing was not as surprising as it would have otherwise been.

The next entry was on Tinkatuff, Tinkatink's evolution, and instead of just a regular evolution, it actually looked like Tinkatink had grown up and become a teenager. It looked bigger, with longer hair and its rattle had been modified getting handle extensions as well as metal plate additions to make the rattle head resemble a hammer. Tinkatuff kind of gave me the impression that there was another evolution waiting for me, and the ensuing entry confirmed that. When I saw the picture of Tinkaton my first thought was "That's a big/impressive hammer that little thing is carrying", and that pretty much summed up what Tinkaton looked like.

Tinkaton itself had grown slightly older looking compared to its time as Tinkatuff though it was mostly its hair that had done some serious growing while its body had stayed close to the same size, at least that was the impression I got from the picture. What made a bigger impression than the steel-fairy was its hammer which appeared to be 3 to 4 times its size/volume. Seeing how at ease the Tinkation looked in the picture while carrying that monstrosity I could not help but think that the species had to be very strong.

Nonetheless, after a final look at the hammer fairy, I moved on to the next PokeDex entry, which happened to be on Hatenna, so I skipped it along with the next two entries, which led me to an entry on Impidimp. That had me skip again, though I stopped at Entry 288 since it showed a new Pokemon. Yet, I had already seen it when I checked the first entry of the 1st edition of the Paldean Pokemon Index. After staring at the water Diglett-lookalike for a few moments I moved on to the next entry very curious what its evolution was going to be like. I could freely admit that I was expecting something that looked like a Dugtrio, and I ended up being right, kind of.

Looking at the entry title I saw something that had me snort in amusement. The Wigglet evolution obviously not only had to resemble Dugtrio but also had to sound similar, and Wugtrio was as close as it got. Wugtrio looked like a three-headed Wigglet that had been dyed red. The three long-necked Wugtrio heads in the picture came out of a rock, showing none of its body, which did not surprise me at all, and I had to say that this Pokemon, and line in general, was never going to beat the Diglett/Dugtrio allegations.

Even if it was not a variant of Diglett/Dugtrio, or at least no longer one since it was clear to me that it had long become its own distinct species probably because its typing and living environment was too different from its origin; Everyone, myself included, was going to declare that Wigglet and Wugtrio were offshoots of the Diglett line and not some species that had developed independently. Moving on, I did just that, and the next entry happened to be on yet another new Pokemon species. The Pokemon in question looked just like a stork that wore an apron that drooped past its feet. It was apparently called Bombirdier and was listed as a flying/dark type, though I would have guessed that it was a flying/normal type instead.

Either way, I proceeded on to the next entry, and I had to stare at the picture I saw since it was showing a literal aquamarine-colored dolphin. Well, it was not purely aquamarine since it had a pale bluish-white coloration on its underbelly that extended to its lower jaw and eyes, as well as on its dorsal fin. It also had some white wave pattern on its side, and what looked like a ring/hoop at the base of its tail, though I was not sure what it was made from since that could not be determined from the picture.

Still, I could not help but stare at the literal Dolphin Pokemon that I was being shown, and I had to wonder why the hell we did not know about Finizen since it was pretty clear that this Pokemon had to live in the ocean, which would have one assume that it should have, at some point, spread to our (local) part of the sea/waters. The only thing I could think of was that maybe the thing that stopped the people of Paldea from contacting us by the sea was stopping the Finizen as well, though that had me once again thinking that Toedscruel's egg surviving its journey and landing in Kanto was a super miracle.

Anyway, after giving the dolphin a final look I moved on to the next entry only to see another Finizen, or at least that was what I would have thought if not for the second picture beside the Finizen look-alike. The second picture showed a dark blue-colored buff slightly humanoid dolphin that seemed to actually stand using the flukes of its tail fin. Its chest and belly area were white though it also had a red shield-shaped mark on its chest. Oh, and its flippers had turned into human-like arms as well as hands and it seemed to wear gloves. All in all, I was not sure what to think of the second picture; It kind of looked as if Finizen, or rather Palafin as this evolution of Finizen seems to be called, underwent some kind of superhero transformation to turn from its normal look into this humanoid form.

The fact that the words Hero form were literally printed below the second picture gave credit to that idea. The first picture had the slightly insulting sounding words Zero-form printed below it, and after a closer look, I noticed that the Palafin in the first picture showed a slight difference compared to Finizen. There seemed to be a light pink heart mark on its chest, which I suspected turned into the red shield mark on the hero form during its transformation. Still, I had to say that aside from the light pink heart mark Palafin's normal form looked pretty much like a Finizen, and if it never underwent that hero transformation it seemed to have, one would likely assume that it was just some special Finizen instead of it being Finizen's evolution.

Not sure what to think about that dolphin line, I chose to move on to the next entry, and I ended up seeing yet another new Pokemon. The Pokemon in question looked like some kind of silver metallic toy vehicle, though the tire area looked like it was made of purple rocks. It was apparently called Varoom and was listed as a steel/poison type, making it the first common species with that type combination as far as I knew. It was a pretty interesting combination that had only two weaknesses, which were a minor fire and a major ground weakness.

What was interesting though was the fact that the Varoom in the picture seemed to be levitating which meant that any ground-type move that wanted to harm it would have to be able to actually hit it first to cause any damage if it kept levitating off the ground, though that sounded a bit weird since any attack had to hit first to cause damage. It was just that levitation made it extra hard for ground-type moves, though once the hit happened it would still cause major damage. Still, it was curious that Varoom could levitate since levitation was usually limited to ghosts and psychics. Oh, and steel as well as electric types that used electromagnetism or the like to levitate; Maybe it was the latter that Varoom used to levitate since it had a steel typing.

Anyway, the next entry was on Varoom's evolution Revaroom, which pretty much looked like the toy car got a mega tuning/upgrade and turned into a Gotham/Arkham-style super-monster car. It kept the steel/poison typing and appeared to be capable of levitating as well seeing how it was doing so in the picture. Revaroom honestly looked a bit cool, and given its typing and levitation powers I could see it on the team of any steel or poison specialist; Possibly even as an ace or at least a contender for the ace position if its racial values were so low as to make too much of an impact on its chances against the competition.

Either way, it seemed like I was being shown new Pokemon back to back since the following entry was on another new species as well. The Pokemon in question looked like some kind of green lizard, though it was a slightly curious-looking one since it apparently had 3 modes seeing how there were 3 pictures of it in different poses. Cyclizar's head was mostly black, with a green coloration between its casque, which was an enlargement of the skull in reptilians, and its lower jaw. It also had orange circular cheeks.

Cyclizar's neck, paw pads, and tail were also black, though the tail had a white tip. Its rear actually had what looked like a covering that resembled a motorcycle seat located at the base of its tail. To top it off, it had a black sac with a white inner coloring on its throat that looked like a rubber tire. Or at least it did in the third picture that was labeled as Ride form where the throat sack had been inflated to actually look like a tire/wheel while its tail was rolled up to the same effect, making Cyclizar actually resemble a motorcycle.

The first picture showed Cyclizar on its four limbs and was labeled basic form, while the second picture showed Cyclizar on its feet standing ready to act, which was labeled as battle form. This led me to conclude that Cyclizar could move/act as both a quadruped as well as a bipedal being, but that it preferred fighting on its feet while it preferred to run on all fours. Anyway, Cyclizar's interesting habits and forms aside, it was labeled as a dragon/normal type, which was interesting. Cyclizar had to be one of, if not the most chill and nice dragon species in existence since the Cyclizar in the third picture seemed to be happily carrying someone around, which was probably why it was called ride form.

The fact that they labeled it as such probably meant that it was something common over there, which as I said had to mean that Cyclizar had to be a very easygoing dragon, right up there with its fellow dragon/normal type Drampa which was known as to be very children friendly.
