Chapter 3: Ch3-Aftermath and Prof.Oak
'I thought I was dead' as I was thinking that I tried to move but an intense pain struck me, so I stopped that and took a look around myself.
I was in a room full of lab equipment and there I saw an old man with a white coat trying to figure out something on his own but what caught my eye wasn't him, it was a 10 feet yellow coloured reptile, it has two antennas over its head and a pair of small bat-like wings, I clearly knew what it was, the only pseudo legendary of Kanto and a champion Pokemon of Prof.Oak. A Dragonite normally is 7 feet tall but this one is clearly different. Professor Oak was in his own world not realising the sound I made when I woke up.
So I embarrassingly coughed "yehhu yehhu",
hearing the sound Dragonite nudged the professor from his thoughts, he turns around and looks at me with a smile and asks "You had a pretty rough day huh? if not for my Dragonite passing by due to the commotion caused around that area, you wouldn't have survived... I see that you don't have any Pokemon on hand and you are not from around here so may I know what you were doing there?"
after hearing his obvious question, I replied with my prepared answer "Thanks a lot for saving me Dragonite" and then I turn towards professor and give him my ID "I am Gunn Lancelot an orphan from seafoam islands, I travelled here to meet you so that I can propose my research and probably get a Pokedex for my journey, but as you see I was attacked by that shiny rattata and its group."
At my mention of research and shiny rattata, his eyes sparkled but looking at my condition he gulped his enthusiasm. He gives my ID back and tells "I see that you are still 14 and to get a Pokedex you should at least be 15 years old, although I have no idea what research you are going to propose but if it interests me, I will take you in as an assistant till you reach 15, if the research succeeds I will give you a starter and a Pokedex."
I wanted to jump in joy when I heard that and a tingle of pain hit me "ah ah shit", looking at that professor said, "I got you checked with the local doctor and he told there are few fractures and it would take 1-2 months to get back to normal, so for now, you can stay in the guest room outside the lab and my Dragonite will help you on that, I would have asked my granddaughter for the help but she is with my cousin in Alola region."
After hearing that, I was a bit sad. I would need to stay idle for nearly a month or more, anyways I can make some plans for the journey and know about this world by reading some books. Seeing that I was silent, the professor asked me about the research proposal.
I said "Last 2 years I was checking out and observing the Pokemon of seafoam islands, their eating habits and their nature as a priority, I found out that some liked spicy food, some sweet and some sour but there was something in common, Pokemon that show a specific nature likes only a specific kind of flavour, so I thought I would check out my theory by trying it on Pokemon on your ranch, I hope you don't mind professor."
He was literally sparkling at my proposal and said " Interesting theory and a very good topic, I think I would be happy to see you succeed in your theory, let's talk about the specifics after you get back to full health. Now I got to go, see you later young man."
As he went out, Dragonite came to me and said something around the lines of 'I will take you to your room'. Next second it lifted me and put me on a wheelchair and took me out. Guest room was pretty big and had a comfortable bed, I also asked Dragonite to show me around so that I can get familiar with the lab. I found a library beside the lab and here goes my two months of quarantine. Time passed and Oak came checking on me every day to see if I was ok and I was getting meals from Dragonite who would get it on time.
Oak's Dragonite had a pretty relaxed nature, it liked sour food and disliked sweet, so this confirmed my theory that game mechanics work here, I just took notes of all that I remembered about nature and how they affect the stats. As I am fully recovered now I can test it out on some Pokemon and write a thesis to submit. I also heard from professor that if I succeed in my research, I will get a lot of money and maximum Pokemon I could carry would be increased to 8. I was still wondering about that Riolu which was promised.
'sigh, maybe I will get it soon.'
I asked the professor about his family so that I can get info on Gary and Ash, he told me that his grandson and Ash were on a Pokemon camp and will return in a month. If they went for Pokemon camp then they would be a little younger, maybe around 10 or 12 years so that means I would have time for Team Rocket and their Mewtwo plan.
It's time to start my research now, although I know it works but I need to provide proof for the league and professor. I will just take 2-3 months and finish it off. As I walked out to the ranch, I saw professor Oak's Arcanine. It had a striped tiger pattern and looked majestic, even though I saw it before from the room I never got close to it.
The moment it saw me, it ran towards me with enthusiasm. When it got closer, I looked like a dwarf in front of it. When I tried to touch it, he lowered his head as if signalling me to pet it, I am not sure if it's a he or she but I am sure it has a jolly nature.
When I was about to start my research, I hear Prof.Oak "Nice to see you recovered young man, I see you have met my Arcanine, He likes if people pet him and looks after the ranch. Oh!!! you brought your notes out, so I guess you are ready for your research then, come let's see your theories."
When I turned around and saw him holding an egg which was blue in colour with a hint of black on top of it, I was fucking sure what it was and I couldn't stop myself from grabbing it.
