I return to my body just in time for the guard change. Thankfully, I didn’t stay too long, or I might have put Xavier in danger. Unfortunately, I’m greeted by my father’s face instead of his once seated back in my body.

“Glad you could join us, Jophial. I hope your visit to Vaskar was satisfying.”

“Have you come to kill me or bore me with your lectures, Father?”

A hard slap met my face with fury. The taste of hot metal fills my mouth and as I recovered, a heavy collar is placed around my neck. My vision spins as I battle for balance. The blood pooling in my mouth added to my hatred of the man before me.

“You are a waste of my energy. I had hoped that your mother would have produced a more capable child and for a while, I was very proud. However, I can’t determine if I’m more annoyed that you attempted to usurp me or enraged that you failed.”
