Chapter 28: Chapter 28: No Rest For the Wicked

Cionna’s POV

Lex walks home with me and we chat about my birthday AGAIN. It is a week away and I’m still not excited about it. It meant that these last few days would be my last with Julien. It also meant that I don’t have much time left to get myself ready for the summoning ritual.

I hadn’t figured out a power source for myself yet, and I’m running out of time. My mind drifts to the guy from earlier. Valentino. He is a witch like me and seems nice enough. I must be desperate. Am I considering asking someone I don’t know for help with something so important?

I grip my textbooks in annoyance. This is something my coven should be helping me with, but thanks to my aunt, that is out of the equation. I had a better chance of becoming one of the Elder witches before they would help me summon the king of demons.

Even Celia’s magic has limits. She has given me vials of potions to help restore my magic, and it helped in small doses, but it wasn’t enough to give me the strength I need.
