"Your Highness, please calm yourself and do not harm your health," Maid Qu pleaded, dropping to her knees, concern etched on her face. Eunuch Jiu, his eyes wide with astonishment, stammered, "Your Highness, I didn't mean to..." He too knelt in remorse, avoiding Xuan Cheng's gaze.
"Leave!" Xuan Cheng yelled as she rose to her feet, her voice laced with frustration, and stormed out of the courtyard. "Your Highness..." Maid Qu watched in bewilderment as Xuan Cheng hurried out of the inner chamber. Xuan Cheng didn't pause her steps and snarled, "You as well, go and attend to the task I assigned."
Once Xuan Cheng had departed, Maid Qu, still trembling, turned to Eunuch Jiu. In a trembling voice, she inquired, "What has come over Her Highness? Why is she suddenly so agitated?"
