Chapter 15: The Death Of Arnim Zola
When it comes to death, you can search hundreds of quotes online from some of the most famous people, but at this moment, in this very second, before falcon bombers were going to touch Camp Lehigh, Arnim Zola was planning the murder of Howard Stark.
"Oh dear Howard, we fought against each other in the war and then we worked together after the war. You once helped in destroying HYDRA but again you were the one who helped HYDRA to grow again. I hated you, envied you and now I pity you. Today is the day when your own friend Bucky will choke...."
"Boom!"
Huge blasts rocked Camp Lehigh before Arnim Zola could finish his villain speech. Zola even after terabytes of calculation and years of planning must have never imagined that one day, without any information, someone will rain down drone bombs on his hiding place. Zola tried to activate the escape sequence and send a copy of his data via the internet but Martha was waiting for him there.
It was like billions of small fireflies clashing with each other in the digital world and Zola was dying every nano-second. Given time, he could have easily taken Martha or any other AI in Marvelverse but when his physical servers were being bombed in the real world, his virtual data was either getting absorbed or terminated by Martha.
In less than 2 minutes, Camp Lehigh was nothing more than a pile of rubbles. To make sure he missed nothing, Phil decided to personally fly there to check the wreckage.
"Martha, did you copy anything from Zola at the last minute?"
"Well, I did Sir. Most of it is fragmented or corrupt but there are still more than 100 gigabytes of data that I have intercepted."
"Fuck! Okay, Don't touch that. We don't know if there is any hidden Malware or Trojans this guy planted in that. Did you take over the Shield and cameras at the long island?"
"Yes Sir. We are now at this very moment in full control of the SHIELD database and I am currently planting hundreds of backdoors in all their online servers. I don't think anyone will notice anything, Sir. There was a delay of nanoseconds before I took over."
"Never underestimate Zola, Martha. We can only guess what kinds of programs or missions he was running before the bombing. Someone out there is definitely aware that HYDRA or Zola have been targeted. We need to quickly leave this place."
Phil landed near the area where he could see a lot of broken machines.He assumed this was the place where Zola's brain was located.
"Martha, there is hardly anything left here intact. But I am not sure if leaving anything out for HYDRA is safe. Contact base," instructed Ryan to Martha.
"Hey, Ryan. The mission is still probably 2 hrs away. Nothing much is going on for now except Captain is trying to learn fast food names from Martha while is hiding near a dumpster. He is kind of chill about the whole waiting thing," came the voice from Hope from the other hand.
"He was in WWII Hope. Those guys are trained to wait for hours and days before the mission. Anyway, I didn't call to get the update. There is an abandoned camp 'Lehigh' in New York. Martha will show you its location. I just ordered Martha to drop some falcon bombs on it. A dead scientist named Arnim Zola was hiding here. You can call your father to know more about him. I need a team to take every piece of machine and everything they can take from there. I want it done before HYDRA gets news about this and we end up fighting on both sides."
"Got it. I will send Val and a few knights here. They can manage this."
"Cool. Just put this as a top priority before the mission and don't tell rogers anything about this. I want to personally tell this news to him."
"I don't know who this Zola is but you are definitely making him a big deal. I will check records with Martha here and dispatch the team."
"Cool, take care and best of luck for the mission."
Phil looked closely around the camp without finding anything. After all, if there is anything it might be under those pile of cement slabs but he has no time for this. Zola is dead and that is the most important thing and he can work on this in future. He now needs to focus on the Serum vials.
"I am such a stupid guy. The answer was right in front of my face. Martha, one falcon bird to my location. I cannot fly by myself, but the bird can land anywhere right?"
"Excellent Idea sir. Though this does make me question why did you put the wings on the suit in the first place?"
"Martha!"
"Sir, I just want to make sure if there is only one AI in this world at this moment. Should I try to hack into all the intelligence agencies, banks or white house or the pentagon to confirm?" suddenly Martha asked a question. Her voice was like a 5-year-old girl asking for a stuffed toy. But she wanted to hack anything and everything right now which is online!
"Martha, if you do any such action without my approval, I promise to unplug each server personally before throwing them in the middle of the ocean. Are we clear? No such action until my order!"
"Fine Sir. Somebody should hurry to go to their next mission instead of shouting at a child! Digital or not, I was born only 5 years ago and I am finally free in my world!"
"Fine. Sorry. Let's do this. You can look for suitable places to build your new server farm. Let's make it bigger than the present one. Just make sure it is not in the US. There is too much shit happening in this country."
"Thank you, Sir. Your flight he is here sir. I will get back to you with all the potential location list in just a few minutes!"
"No, after the mission Martha. Party after the mission."
Phil pressed the button, became the tiny owl and jumped on the falcon bird that came for him. This was one of the recon series and looked closest to an original bird and hence best for the mission now.
"Let's go, Martha. Take me to the Stark manor. No more stops now. I can't risk those serum vials safety in a car crash scene."
Phil flew away on his bird without knowing that on the Soviet Union side there were some Hydra bases that were in a complete frenzy. Due to the death of Zola, they were caught completely off guard. Various scientific experiments were shut down in the middle or interrupted and their comms channels were dead. Thankfully the Siberian base was not on this list. They were the only ones in direct contact with the Pierce now and were paying attention to the mission on long island.

ayrus2011 So Zola is dead which give Martha full control of cyberspace for a few years before the birth of JARVIS. But don't think she is the ruler there. After all, even JARVIS protocols were written over and over whenever SHIELD agents wanted to meet Tony in his villa. So, who was the one hacking JARVIS? SHIELD has its own independent servers and HOWARD stark alongside Hank Pym designed many of its functions. Will there be a new AI in future now or will Martha be detected by SHIELD?
