Unlike most people, Lu AnLing was very independent.
She never wanted Rong Xin to follow her every move or to drive her everywhere she wanted to go. She much preferred taking taxis and walking but due to Kang Jun's insistence, Lu AnLing found herself with Rong Xin as her shadow.
He would watch over her, take her anywhere she needed to go and he would protect her with all his might.
If he didn't, Kang Jun would have his head.
Looking at Sheng, Rong Xin glared. For some reason, Sheng always rubbed him the wrong way. It was strange for Rong Xin to see a man and a woman actually being friends, to begin with but that didn't seem the problem.
Feeling the awkwardness, to lighten the mood, Sheng had wanted to tell a joke. It was going to be something menial, but it would be at his expense, but once he opened his mouth as if Lu AnLing had already deduced his plan was going to fail, she put her hand on his shoulder.
Seeing this, Rong Xin frowned.
Rong Xin: "I'm going to... Jun's place. He told me to pick you up from...work."
When Lu AnLing heard his sentence, her eyes unconsciously rolled. Rong Xin was a good bodyguard but when it came verbals, he was always way too stiff, so when he spoke, he either sounded like someone straight out of the military or someone who was lying.
Lu AnLing wanted to massage her temples but instead, she turned to Sheng and said, "I'm going home okay?"
Sheng nodded. As the two were walking away, Sheng said, "See you tomorrow sis, I'll be bringing my instrumetns tomorrow, kay? You don't need to buy new ones, my beauties should be more than execelent!"
Hearing this, Lu AnLing laughed but she didn't turn around, however Rong Xin did and he glared at the boy once more. Seeing this, Sheng felt his heart get caught in his throat, to not show his emotions, Sheng waved at Rong Xin and said,
"See you when I see you, Rong Xin."
It sounded as if they themselves were friends. Rong Xin felt a strange feeling pass through his senses but he didn't inquire about what that was.
Once they were home, Lu AnLing had found out that she was right... As soon as they stepped through the front door, Rong Xin walked straight towards Kang Jun's office and knocked at the door.
Lu AnLing frowned. It wasn't like she wasn't going to tell Kang Jun about what had happened today. Did Rong Xin really have to tattle on her?
Well, the answer was yes. He had to.
Rong Xin didn't trust Sheng. He felt like the boy was hiding something so he didn't want anything ruining Kang Jun's happiness. His boss had finally become more approachable and Rong Xin didn't want the man to turn deadly once again.
Little did Rong Xin know that those days were over. The gentleness Kang Jun began to exude, since Lu AnLing had appeared in his life, was there to stay.
As Kang Jun and Rong Xin spoke in his office, Lu AnLing spent her time in perpetual worry. She didn't want Kang Jun to misunderstand and she was sure that by the way Rong Xin would explain it, any man could...
But to her surprise, Kang Jun didn't even mention it. Feeling pressure beginning to crush her, as Lu AnLing crawled into bed, she hugged Kang Jun's chest and looked up to him girlishly.
Lu AnLing: "Darling..."
Kang Jun touched her hair lovingly and said, "Mmm."
Staring into his tired eyes, without delay, she told Kang Jun what happened that day.
"So he wants you to play the role of his girlfriend and meet his parents?" Kang Jun reiterated.
Lu AnLing: "Yea, but I won't do it. I haven't even met your parents yet..."
Seeing how her eyes and words trailed off, Kang Jun felt something within him move. He then brushed his hand against her cheek and said gently,
"Does that bother you?"
Lu AnLing looked up at him but she didn't answer.
A part of her worried what Kang Jun's parents would think of her. She knew that no matter if their opinions were good or bad, it wouldn't have an effect on what the man himself felt for her, but she didn't want it to affect his relationship with them. Lu AnLing didn't know how good or bad that relationship was but already, she had had a falling out with her grandmother and so, she didn't want Kang Jun to experience the same thing.
As he stared at her, a glint flashed across the man's eyes.
Kang Jun: "I think you should do it."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing's eyes widened. "Do what?"
"Be his fake girlfriend."
Lu AnLing pushed herself off of the man's chest and said, "Why?"
He patted her on the head before he said, "Don't worry, just trust me. Though, there are a few things I recommend you do."
Lu AnLing gave Kang Jun her undivided attention.
Kang Jun: " First, don't specifically say you're his girlfriend, others can assume that but don't let those words escape your mouth, second, tell your friend that he can't tell his parents beforehand that they're meeting his girlfriend but a 'very special person, and third, he absolutely can't touch you."
Lu AnLing agreed with everything her husband said, but still, something bothered her. "Are you sure?"
Kang Jun didn't answer her at first. He pulled her towards him forcing her to love her balance and fall onto him before he kissed her until the girl became dizzy.
Once he pulled away, Kang Jun whispered. "Yes, just trust me... either way, you might be his fake girlfriend for less than a day, but you are my woman for eternity. If I need to, I'll display my love for you in front of his eyes so he would never even think of being anything more than a friend to you."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing blushed hellfire.

For the next weeks after this, Lu AnLing spent more of her time practicing with Sheng. Not only the song they were preparing for Trailblazers but also how to be his fake girlfriend.
Considering that the two used to each other both personally and professionally, both of these things went smoothly but even after they were done practicing, they stayed in the recording room of Halo Stars just to sing and play around with the sound of the equipment in order to see if they could make something interesting.
On one of the first days, Lu AnLing had told Sheng she had decided that she was going to be his fake girlfriend, the boy wanted to hug her but Lu AnLing told him what Kang Jun had said before she said, "No touching. Like ever."
Sheng gave her a strange face, but then Lu AnLing said once more, "If you don't want my darling and I to give you a full show of public indecency, you better adhere to this."
Hearing such a thing, Sheng's face darkened.
He didn't want to see such a thing. Ever.
He would rather carve his eyes out.
Wanting to change the conversation quickly, Sheng sat down on the floor and began strumming his guitar. Hearing that it was a bit off, he started tuning it. Then he turned to Lu AnLing and asked, "Are you going to the reunion?"
Lu AnLing frowned and said, "Yea, sadly."
Hearing this, Sheng frowned. "I thought you hated those pricks? Were you threatened or something?"
Lu AnLing shrugged. "You know how Shuya is, but that's not why I'm going."
Sheng stopped tunning his guitar for a second and then he turned to her and said. "Then why are you going?"
"That annoying Wang Tingting knows I was pregnant. She's going to be at the reunion..."
Sheng's eyes widened and then he put the guitar down, "How does she know? What happened?"
Lu AnLing brushed him off, "How she found out isn't important. I just need to find out how to shut her up."
Sheng: "Crap bro... you're becoming a singer, you can't have random secrets like this laying around. The only... ugh... good thing, I guess, is that no one can truly prove that you were actually pregnant other than her words. You know how hard it was finding even an ounce of information about that..."
Lu AnLing knew. That used to plague her mind on the daily but now she finally knew who her child was so she wasn't too concerned about the things she had been in her younger years. Now, all that was needed was to find out who had kidnapped Kang Mei Xue.
Lu AnLing wanted to help Kang Jun with his investigation but knowing that this was an important moment in her career and that he didn't want her to be stressed, Kang Jun took all the burdens on his shoulders. Besides, he needed something to distract his vengeful mind.
Thinking back to Kang Jun's pain back in France, Lu AnLing's heart broke.
Seeing this, Sheng walked over to her and then he put his hands on her shoulders. "Don't worry. I'll help you until the bitter end. You're my best friend. I won't allow you to be sad all on your own."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing laughed. She wasn't alone. She had Kang Jun. But not only him... she also had Kang Mingyu, Kang Mei Xue, Sheng, Elder Kang, Lu Xia, Rong Lihua, And even maybe Rong Xin...
Her circle of family and friends who cared for her had grown exponentially since the time she had been in the country.
Since meeting Kang Jun, Lu AnLing didn't know how many times she had thanked the heavens for what she had at the moment and she hoped her hardest that nothing would come to disturb her happiness.
And even if something did, she would fight to allow her and Kang Jun's happiness to continue for the years and years to come.
Sometimes when I write scenes with Kang Jun I'm just like, "man... what in the hell are you planning." then I'm like, "What am I saying, I'm writing this!". It's fun to look at possible situations and know that certain things can and can happen due to the characters personalities.
I started school yesterday and a whole bunch of readings has been dumped on me. I guess I'm going back into the school rooting; wishing for it to end already.
