Chapter 162: The War That Changed Everything  

"We know what they are," grunted He'dtaalh, coming to stand on my other side. Ba'dqeel walked away, taking his time to study the walls and books around us. This seemed to be hitting him harder than the others, and I felt bad.

He probably didn't have any idea this was the actual history of his planet, one that was lost to him and everyone else until this very moment.

"We fight it every hundred years. But it isn't a species. It is just a single monster, the size of half the planet, with wings that carry it from the north side to the south and claws that can tear through our armor-like skin as if it was nothing."

I nodded, pointing to the picture of the creature for those of us not here a hundred years ago. "The males, fearing for their queen's safety, attacked it, believing the Drakarian to be a threat. But the queen… she had a gift. She could communicate with the creature."
