Chapter 8: CHAPTER EIGHT.

"Huh!" Nicole and I said together.

"Hmm, I'm not signing it." He emphasized.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"I would really love to sign the contract but I'm traveling tomorrow."

"Oh!" Nicole said.

"Mr Zane why didn't you say so, we wouldn't have asked for more company's people." Layla said.

"Miss, you can take your leave." The lady said.

Layla looked at us, rolled her eyes and then walked out.

"I'll excuse myself." The lady said.

After she had left, Nicole said "Mr Zane, you could have just told us that you won't be available then we won't have to stress a lot of people."

"I know you're angry.

Yes I could have just say everything I wanted to say at the restaurant but I wanted some company before traveling."

"Are you traveling back home?" Nicole said.

"No, I'm just traveling for fun."

"Oh."

"I actually called you here for another reason."

"What's that?"

"I have a student, he'd love to cooperate with your company in my stead."

"Really?"

"Of course."

"Wow."

"This is the only gift I can give you before I travel."

"Thank you so much, I love it."

"I'll place your meeting by 3pm tomorrow."

"Okay, do you mind me asking about something?"

"Go ahead."

"I trust that your students work will be good but does he has any infringement case." Nicole said.

Mr Zane only shook his head and smiled.

FLORA'S POV.

"You were really planning on leaving without us?" Macy said angrily.

"Not now Macy, I'm driving." I said as I accelerated.

"Flora, I know you are curious about Harper's news, but you can't do that, what if something had happened to you?" I heard Randy say.

"I said not now." I shouted.

My eyes widened seeing we were heading straight for a ditch.

I tried to divert but I couldn't make it in time, we crashed into the ditch.

"Quickly call an ambulance." I heard faintly.

I couldn't move, I could only see Macy, she was bleeding severely.

God what have I done?

Everything was about to turn black before I heard the siren.

Then everything went blank.

LIONEL'S POV.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked Cleo as I sat close to her in the couch.

"Do I look like there's something wrong with me?" Cleo asked me and went back to drinking her tea.

"You've been drinking that tea for more than 10 times a day since Addie's banquet, why wouldn't I ask that?"

"Isn't it normal?" She asked.

"It isn't."

"Then just take it like I found a new hobby."

"How did drinking of tea become an habit?"

"I decided to make it my hobby, does it have anything to do…"

"Mr Lionel, Madame." Theo said.

"When did you get in?" I asked.

"I still don't like the idea of giving him the house key, look how creepy he is." Cleo said.

"Theo you should try to make enough noise the next time you enter to announce your presence."

"Yes sir."

"By the way, why are you here?"

"News from the scouts."

"Go ahead." Cleo said.

Theo looked at me and I gave him a gesture to go ahead.

"Sir, your supposed daughter is dead."

"What!" Cleo and I said together.

"She was found by a stream this morning and her body was swollen.

From speculations, she had drowned two days ago."

"That's the time she got missing." I said devastated.

"Hmm, our scouts also found that she is not your daughter."

"Huh!" Cleo and I muttered together.

"This is the paternity test." Theo said as he gave me the booklet he held.

I collected, looked at it and as he said, we aren't related by blood at all.

"Are you sure this is accurate?" I asked.

"Yes sir."

"Is there anything else?"

"Her sister is in a coma."

"What happened?" Cleo asked.

"Her sister was informed early this morning that she was found.

On her way to the location the police gave her, she got into a accident.

Currently, her and her three friends are in coma."

"That's horrible." Cleo said.

"Theo, inform our people there to make sure her body is carefully preserved so that her sister can see her when she wakes up,

Take care of her sister and friends medical bills, make sure they get the best treatment available."

"Yes sir." Theo said as he turned to leave.

"Also, send someone to the bakery to take care of everything before she wakes up." I said.

"Okay." Theo said and left the room.

"Do you also think she was murdered?" Cleo said.

"I don't believe in coincidences."

TORY'S POV.

"Why are we leaving so early?" I asked Polly.

"I'm supposed to be at work before 7am." Polly answered as she pulled me out of the compound.

"The school bus will come in less than an hour, make sure you're prepared before then." Polly said to Perry.

"Tell me why I have to follow you again." I said.

"The shop needs delivery men, I had already sign you up yesterday so we're going to work."

"Why do I have to work, I haven't even gone to college yet."

"You haven't applied for college either." Polly said as she stopped a cab.

She pushed me in and entered.

"Poppy coffee." She said to the cab driver.

"This is forced labor." I cried out.

"You can't continue to be mischievous all day, you're getting older, try taking up some responsibility."

NIKKI'S POV.

"You haven't gone to college yet, why do you insist on working?" Noah asked.

Carrying my bag, I said "Sitting at home all day isn't my thing, I often get depressed."

"You can try going out."

"This is Washington, I don't know anyone here, going out alone is just sad."

"…"

"Save your breath, either we do this peacefully or we might have to stay at different apartments for the next three weeks."

"Take care." He reluctantly said.

"Thank you bro, you're still the best." I said as I kissed his cheek.

NOAH'S POV.

"Bye." She said as she left.

Looks like we're going to stay in Washington for a while.

My phone vibrated and I looked at it, it was my mentor calling.

I picked up the call.

"Good morning mentor." I said.

"How have you been doing recently?" He asked.

"Luckily, I've been surviving."

"When were you going to call me?"

"You know I hate disturbing you. Aren't you supposed to be on a plane to Mexico?"

"You want me to leave so badly."

"…"

"Anyways, you have an appointment by five."

"What?"

"A really nice company wanted to work with me but since I'm traveling I recommended you to them and they loved the idea.

They are coming with the contract by five, I'll send you the location, don't fail me."

With that he ended the call.

My phone vibrated again and I immediately picked the call.

"Busy?" The caller said

I felt disappointed, it was Jayden, I had thought it was my mentor.

"Not until five." I said.

"What's up?"

"Nothing much. Why don't we meet up later, since I came to Washington I haven't seen you."

"Okay, will 2:30 do?"

"It will, I'll send you the location."

I said then ended the call.

TORY'S POV.

"These are all the deliveries and addresses.

If we don't need an urgent hand, we wouldn't hire someone without experience, don't make trouble." The manager said.

"Don't worry sir, I can assure you that she is 100% reliable." Polly said.

"She better be." The manager said with a stern voice as he walked away.

"Why did you lie?" I whispered to Polly.

"I know you like being carefree, but if you mess up, I'll be fired along side you. So better behave, dad needs his surgery." She whispered back and then left.

I sighed.

Since I'm in this family in this world, I'll just have to learn to do as they say.

I picked up the delivery bags and went outside.

I put them in the carrier in the bike's seat.

I collected my headphone from my back bag, put the back bag in the carrier and wore the headphone.

"Star." I said as I closed the carrier and climbed into the bike. "How do I ride this thing."

"Five points for bike riding instructions, twenty points for installation of autopilot." Star said immediately her hologram popped up.

"I still have to pay for mere driving instructions?"

"Yes."

"Forget it, I'll drive it on my own."

I looked at the bike, I placed the key on the key hole.

I pressed something and another thing and before I knew it, it seems as if I was flying.

The bike continued running at a high speed and I was too shocked to think of anything.

Then, I saw a car approaching.

Jesus Christ, am I going to die?

Then it hit me.

"Star, I'm purchasing autopilot."

"Okay, autopilot has being purchased and installed in the bike, you now have 30 points left."

"Why isn't it working?" I asked as the bike was still speeding.

"You have to set it."

"Set it for me."

"That will take five points leaving you with only twenty-five points."

"Take it."

"Your route has been set." I heard as the bike slowed down and turned right.

Thankfully the car I saw had diverted.

"Star, why does everything I ask you to do require points?"
