Chapter 42: Sky Island
Yo! We are in the fucking sky!! There isn't much that happens in this chapter, but I had fun writing this one, so if you don't like it, that doesn't seem like my problem. Also, when this gets uploaded, I will be starting to plan the fights for 'Water 7', so if you have any ideas for them, please let me know! I have some ideas, but others are always welcome!

The Straw Hats had been sailing for a couple of hours on the sea of clouds when they saw a massive golden gateway with the words 'Heaven's Gate' written on it. Luffy smiled brightly when he saw this.
"We finally made it!! There's really an island in the sky!!" He shouted out in joy. Sadly, not everyone shared that joy.
"We aren't paying that stupid entry fee, and I don't care if we can afford it!!" Nami shouted angrily as they pulled up to 'Heaven's Gate', with a small, old woman with tiny wings on her back at the gate.
*CLICK*
They all noticed the old woman staring at them and heard the clicking sound like a camera taking a picture. Nami glared at the old woman, which was ignored completely.
"Welcome to 'Skypiea', an island built upon a gigantic mass of fossilized clouds known as an 'Imperial Cumulus'. Visitors must pay 1,000,000,000 Extol per person to enter, " the woman said, making Nami's glare worse.
"I already said it earlier; we're not paying!! " Nami shouted in outrage. She got even more mad when the woman didn't acknowledge her words at all.
"She isn't even looking at us..." Usopp muttered to himself when he saw the blank look on the old woman's face.
Before they could dwell on the odd old lady, a massive shrimp the size of the 'Going Merry' came, grabbed said ship, put it onto its back, and started moving quickly. Forcing everyone to hold onto something or else they would get launched off the deck from the wind.
*PURURURU* *PURURURU*
*GATCHA*
"There are criminals who didn't pay the entry fee coming up the 'Milky Road' on a 'Speedy Shrimp,' " the woman said into the microphone of the transponder snail. The snail sighed exasperatedly.
"Did you tell them they would become criminals if they didn't pay?" The person on the other side of the line asked.
*GATCHA*
The woman ignored what she was asked and hung up the transponder snail before looking at the massive sea of clouds.
Will anyone come through the gate today?

After being dragged across the 'Milky Road' by the 'Speedy Shrimp', the Straw Hats saw an island made out of clouds in the distance. When they got closer, they could see a massive island of clouds with houses, shops, and many people.
At least there were many people until they got closer to the island. Once spotted, everyone seemed to rush inside like their life depended on it.
They initially would dock the 'Going Merry' where they saw other ships docked. Still, they chose to dock at the beach so they didn't have to pay any fees, which was definitely a group decision and not one made solely by the navigator that was forced on everyone else.
When the 'Going Merry' was docked and everyone was disembarking onto the beach, Zoro chose this moment to speak up.
"I'll stay and guard the ship." The swordsman said before he turned around and walked out of everyone's sight.
*SNORE*
Everyone sweat-dropped when they heard Zoro snoring not even five seconds after he walked away. Luffy took that moment to speak up with a big grin.
"Time to explore!!"

*KNOCK* *KNOCK*
"Hmm." Luffy hummed to himself as he knocked on the hard fruit he found at the top of the tree before shrugging and opening his mouth wide.
"Ahh"
*MUNCH* *CRACK*
"OWWW!!! Fuck this thing!!"
Luffy angrily threw the fruit down after he cracked his tooth, biting into it.
*BOOM*
"OWW!! What the hell, Luffy?!"
Looking down, Luffy saw the fruit he had just thrown on Usopp's face. He couldn't hold back his laugh at that.
"Shishishishi!! Sorry, Usopp!!" Luffy said unapologetically as he jumped down, took the fruit off Usopp's face, and chuckled when he saw his crooked nose.
"You have to cut it open."
Everyone turned to the new voice and saw a tall, slender young woman with blonde hair in pigtails and two antennae sticking out at the top of her head. She was wearing a pink dress and red striped sandals. She had tiny, white wings on her back, which the old woman at Heaven's Gate also had. The woman smiled kindly and waved at them, making Sanji drop his jaw.
"Is that an angel…" Sanji muttered incredulously, making Usopp cover his mouth so he wouldn't burst out laughing.
'No way am I getting a flaming foot to the face today!' Usopp thought to himself as the woman walked over to them.
"Heso, my name is Conis. It's nice to meet you, everyone. You all are from the 'Blue Sea', right?" She greeted them while putting their hand against their head and sticking two fingers up, making Luffy tilt his head in confusion.
"What's a hayso?" He asked, making Conis burst out in laughter.
"Hahaha, It's 'Heso'. It's a greeting we use here on 'Skypiea'." She explained, making everyone nod in understanding.
"This place is known as 'Angel Beach' here on 'Angel Island'. Please feel free to relax here as much as you'd like." She said, making most of them smile.
"Then, we'll take you up on that!!" Luffy said, and like it was a switch, everyone relaxed and spread out around the beach.
*VROOOOM* *BOOOM*
Before anyone could do anything else, they heard an engine roaring and an impact near the water.
After the cloud of dust that was kicked up settled, everyone saw a man with a strange round beard wearing a brown and yellow robe with what could be described as a water scooter on top of him.
"I'm sorry!!" The man shouted an apology, confusing everyone except the fellow 'Skypiea' resident.
"Father, are you alright?!" Conis shouted in worry as she ran over to the man, making the Straw Hats realize who this man was.
"Heso, Conis. I'm alright, sorry for worrying you." The man apologized again, making Conis sigh.
*SIGH*
"It's alright, Father, but please be more careful with the 'Waver,'" she said in exasperation.
As Conis helped her father get back up after moving the 'Waver' off him, Luffy and Nami ran over excitedly.
"Hey, old man, can I ride that thing?!" Luffy asked with stars in his eyes. Before his question could be answered, Nami was already on it and starting it up.
*REV* *REV*
"Oi wait, Nami!! I wanna go first!!" Luffy pouted at his navigator, who stuck her tongue out at him in response.
*VROOOM*
"I got it first!!" She shouted as she drove away at high speeds, making Luffy pout harder.
"Help me!!"
Luffy looked over when he heard shouting, and when he did, he smiled because he saw Bepo and Usopp burying Chopper in the cloudy beach up to his neck.
The reindeer-human hybrid looked over at Law with the best puppy eyes he could manage, making the other doctor roll his eyes before he brought his hand out in front of him.
"Room"
Law's 'Room' covered the entire beach in an instant before he flicked his index and middle fingers.
"Shambles"
"Thanks, Law!! Now, where did Usopp and Bepo go?!"
Luffy smiled as he watched Chopper run around the beach, trying to find the two who buried him. He raised an eyebrow when he saw Law use his 'Shambles' again.
'I guess he's gone now. I can't sense him.' Luffy thought to himself with a shrug before he heard someone call his name.
"Luffy." The straw-hat-wearing Captain looked behind him to see Robin smiling down at him.
Luffy resisted the urge to frown when he sensed how fake that smile was. Instead, he smiled brightly up at her to make her comfortable.
"What's up, Robin?" He asked. She pointed behind her toward the center of 'Angel Island'.
"I'm going to try to learn more about this place. I'll be back in a bit," Robin said. When she saw Luffy nod in response, she started walking away and entering town.
*BOOOOM*
Luffy looked back towards the sea of clouds when he heard a loud impact and saw Sanji in mid-air kicking a massive fish back towards the beach, making stars appear in his eyes.
*BOOM*
The massive fish landed on the beach, with Sanji right behind it. With a smile, the chef turned to the resident of 'Skypiea'.
"Conis-chan, do you mind if I use your kitchen?" Sanji asked the blonde-haired woman, who smiled kindly at him and nodded in response.
"Go right ahead, Sanji," Conis said before returning to her conversation with Nami.
It was more like Nami was negotiating to get the 'Waver' from Conis, with the resident of 'Skypiea' trying to get Nami to stop trying to buy it.
Sanji just shook his head and went towards Conis's house. Before he could even take three steps, Luffy appeared in front of him with a bright smile.
"You're gonna cook, Sanji?! Can you cook the skyfish?!" Luffy shouted in excitement, making the chef scowl.
"Shut up, yes I will. Stop yelling in my face." Sanji said, making Luffy pout before smiling again.
"I can't help it, Sanji. You're food tastes too good!!" Luffy said as he started daydreaming about the skyfish he was about to eat.
Sanji rolled his eyes as he walked into Conis' house and the kitchen, with Luffy following right behind him.
Luffy grinned at Sanji when he saw his chef scanning the kitchen to ensure he had everything.
"Sanji, is the food ready yet?!"
*BAM*
"OWW!! Why did you kick me?!" Luffy shouted as he glared at Sanji and held his bruised cheek from his spot on the ground. The cook used 'Armament Haki', so it actually hurt!!
*Tsk*
"You know damn well it's not ready yet!! Wait, dumbass!!" Sanji shouted with a scowl after clicking his teeth in annoyance.
Luffy pouted at him before he turned around and saw Chopper running along the beach with fire spitting out of his mouth and Usopp laughing at him.
"Hahahaha!! How do you like my 'Tobasco Star', Chopper?! That's what you get for trying to bury me in the sand!!" Usopp said as he grabbed his stomach in laughter, which made the raccoon doctor angry.
"You buried me in the sand first!! 'Heavy Point'!!"
"AHHH!!! HOLD ON, I'M SORRY!!!"
Luffy smiled wide as the now-massive Cand angry Chopper chased after the terrified Usopp.
"OI!! FOOD'S READY!!"
Luffy whipped his head back around and started drooling when he saw the massive assortment of fish and meat.
'I still have no idea how he makes it that fast, but I'm not gonna complain!!' Luffy thought to himself as he licked up his drool and stretched his arm to grab the plate with the most meat, only to get it kicked again.
*BOOM*
"OWW!! Stop kicking me, Sanji!! You said it was ready!!" Luffy pouted at his chef, who completely ignored him. He left the kitchen with four plates of food on each arm and laid them all on the table in Conis' living room, where everyone piled in.
After everyone settled in and started eating, Luffy smiled and looked towards the door. A few seconds later, Robin walked through the door.
"Robin, did you find out anything interesting about this place?" Luffy asked with an excited grin that made the woman smile. His grin grew to a smile when he nodded in response.
"'Skypiea' seems to be ruled by what the residents called 'God'. I couldn't get any more information as people stopped talking to me whenever I asked about this 'God'." Robin explained what she found out from her exploration.
Everyone noticed Conis and her father tense when Robin said 'God' and started lightly trembling when she kept explaining, but they ignored it for now.
"So, where is this 'God'?" Luffy asked as he tried to contain his excitement.
"They should be at a place called 'Upper Yard', which should be in that direction," Robin said as she pointed straight off the shore. Luffy smiled at that before he took a big bite of fish.
"Then, we'll go there after we eat." Luffy said, making the two 'Skypiea' residents look at him horrified.
"Please wait a moment! You can't do that!" Conis shouted out in what looked like despair, tears coming from her eyes.
"Please just go back down to the 'Blue Sea'. It's not safe for you here!!" Conis pleaded with them. Luffy just tilted his head in confusion.
"Conis, I don't give a shit about some stupid 'God', and if this 'God' tries to get in the way of my adventures, I'll kick his ass," Luffy said, making Conis drop to her knees in despair.
*ZIZIZIZIZIZ*
Everyone with 'Observation Haki' looked up at the ceiling when they sensed a terrifying thunder heading right at their Captain, who grinned when he sensed the attack and unsheathed his cutlass while covering it in 'Armament Haki'.
*BOOOOM*
*SHNK*
Just as the pillar of lightning broke through the ceiling, Luffy unsheathed his cutlass and swung it straight up before it hit them all.
"Divine One-Sword Style: Divine Red Wave!!!"
*FWOOOOM* *ZIZIZIZ*
Luffy grinned up at the sky as he split the lightning bolt down the middle with a giant red wave of compressed air, but before anyone could do anything else, a more miniature, more compressed lightning bolt the size of a coin shot straight into Luffy's heart.
*ZIZIZIZ*
*BLINK* *BLINK*
They all watched as Luffy was shocked through the heart. Before they could worry for his safety, he blinked twice, glanced over his body, and smiled.
"I guess that doesn't work on me!! Shishishishi!!" Luffy laughed as he sheathed his cutlass while his friends looked at him in shock and awe.
He just raised his eyebrow at them before turning to Conis and her dad to see the two looking like he just flipped their world upside down. He smiled widely at them.
"That was the god you were talking about, right?" Luffy asked the two shell-shocked Skypieans, looking at him in awe and fear, making him pout.
As he was doing so, Sanji and Law walked over to Zoro, who had returned to sleeping on the deck, with serious expressions. Zoro opened an eye and sat up when he saw that. They all looked at their idiot Captain with furrowed eyebrows.
He knew what they were probably thinking because he thought the same thing.
'I couldn't sense that second attack at all.' Was what all three of them were thinking along the lines of. They didn't know Luffy was thinking similar things as he grinned at the sky.
'This guy has 'Advanced Observation Haki', huh? It's finally time to learn it!! He thought as his grin turned into a massive smile. He turned to Nami, who was looking terrified at both the lightning and Luffy's smile, which always led to danger.
She started frantically shaking her head back and forth with tears in the corner of her eyes, something Luffy ignored entirely and expertly.
"Nami, take us to 'Upper Yard'!!" Luffy confirmed Nami's fears, causing her to slump into depression and sigh in resignation.
*SIGH*
"Do I have to?"
"Yes."

"So, The 'Blue Sea' people are trying to defy god's will? Why didn't the second one work on the one who cut my 'El Thor' in half? No matter, I'll punish them personally later. Hmm? It seems the Shandorians are coming towards me as well." A tall, pale-skinned man said as he lay on his side and leaned his head on his hand.
The man had blonde hair tucked under a close-fitting white skullcap, baggy black and orange pants, and no shirt.
The man's most prominent features were his earlobes stretching to his chest and the four cream-colored wooden drums next to and above his head.
He was lying on his side, being fed grapes by a woman wearing an all-white robe. The woman kept her eyes on the ground to ensure she would never make eye contact with the man.
She flinched when the man suddenly sat up with a smile while holding his chin with his left hand.
"They need to learn their place, " the man said as he raised his right arm to the sky.
*ZIZIZIZ*
His arm suddenly turned to blue lightning, making all the servants flinch. The lightning suddenly surged before getting fired straight up at the sky.
"El Thor!!!"

ntc15 Yo! 42nd chapter done! Not much happens in this chapter, but sometimes, that's just how it is. I just finished the final fight of this arc and am starting to plan 'Water 7' so if you have any ideas for it, let me know!
Anyway, this chapter and the one after it were written in a 6-hour time frame while I was drunk out of my fucking mind, so if there are any mistakes, please let me know!
