Chapter 33: Spandine

"John, how about you take this Vitesse under your command, with Vice Admiral Norville's orders, he won't dare disobey, and then you can beat him with impunity." Peberton suggested with a sudden grim smile.

John looked at Peberton in shock, this guy was really a genius.

Although Vitesse was a rank above him, but if there was an order from Norville, Vitesse would definitely not dare to disobey him, and he could really mock and beat Vitesse.

"Forget it, the sight of this guy is annoying, I better not see him."

This person is not only arrogant, but cold and cautious, especially strongly vindictive and ignorant, he really does not want to see such people.

"That's right, out of sight, out of mind." Peberton cannot but agree with this.

The warship quickly left Marineford and headed north.

As long as the pirates weren't blind, they mostly went around, so John sailed without meeting the pirates, and on the third day the ship reached its destination.

The warship stopped on the island, which was the address that intelligence officer Cypher Paul reported to Norville. John followed Norville and soon met several men in suits.

"Vice Admiral Norville, I'm Spandine of Cypher Paul 9."

One of them, a middle-aged man in his thirties with long curly hair and a rustic face, said to Norville with a smile.

With a blank face, Norville asked, "Target identified."

Spandine replied: "According to our investigation, this group of historical scholars is not gathered in one place, but scattered in several groups, we collected information about them, only managed to capture only a few, but the rest disappeared, and this island probably contains their shelters" .

"So what do you want us to do?" asked Norville.

Spandine said, "We don't have enough men and we need the help of the Watch, the easiest way to catch them is to surround the island."

Norville said in shock, "Surround the whole island? You're not kidding, how can we surround him with a few hundred people?

The island was not a giant island state, but it was not small either, and it was simply impossible to surround the island with a few hundred people.

Spandine said: "There is no need to surround the whole island, we have been chasing them for a long time, we found tracks and roughly determined their location, the goal of surrounding the island is to prevent none of them from escaping, they must all be caught."

Norville frowned and thought for a while before speaking, "The order I received was to cooperate with you, since you have a plan, follow it, if we can't catch anyone, that's none of our business."

In terms of rank, only the CP9 commander was on par with the vice admiral, and the current Spandine was not yet the CP9 commander, so he was still down in rank when facing Norville.

Spandine said in an angry voice, "These guys are just a bunch of weak losers, if not for the desire to destroy them all, there would be no need to go through all this trouble."

After all, there was a huge difference between CP9 and CP0. If it was CP0, I'm afraid they would have caught all these historians long ago, but CP9 was not as effective, firstly, because they were not strong enough, and secondly, because they did not have enough manpower.

The characteristic feature of the spy agency is that it has a small staff, and their strength does not have to be great, but mainly their intelligence capabilities were valued. Therefore, with the exception of CP0, the other few CP organizations, when they ran into problems, asked the fleet, which has the largest power at sea, to help them.

"We have previously determined the city where these people are most likely hiding, I sent people to follow them, now we will go there immediately and we will definitely be able to catch them all."

Speaking of this, Spandine's face was uplifted; it was the first time he led such a large team to do something to accomplish such an important task.

The current commander of CP9 is rumored to be moving to CP0 soon, at which point the position of commander will become vacant.

In order to compete for the position of commander of CP9, Spandine used many connections and spent a lot of money, and this time the mission was very important, as it was ordered by Gorosei.

If he could successfully complete the task this time, he would be very close to that position, which was the biggest reason why he desperately wanted to capture the historical scholar groups brilliantly.

  "Okay, let's go, you lead."

Without thinking, Norville left almost half of his men to guard the various ports as Spandine had planned, and then led the bulk of the group, following Spandine.

John followed behind, his eyes curiously looking at Spandine, a character who appeared in the story, during the O'Hara incident, O'Hara's destruction was due to him, due to the fact that he used the Buster Call, but later, his the son was defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates.

"Is this guy so early in this story?"

Halfway through the walk, Spandine's phone suddenly rang, and when he picked up the receiver, he heard something that made him furious.

"What? The ones you were told to keep an eye on have fled?"

"Shit, what are you all doing? I told you to look after them but you let them go, you're all a bunch of losers."

Looking at Spandine, blazing with anger, Norville asked, "Spandine, what's going on?"

Spandine's face was grim. "Those we suspected of attacking have fled."

  "Everybody ran away?" Norville asked.

"Not too sure about the specifics because we don't have all the information from these people either, we were only in the waiting stage, we were going to wait for you guys to come and kill them all, but we didn't expect them to really take advantage this situation."

Though Spandine was furious, he still explained to Norville.

In fact, he was helpless, if he did not have only a few dozen people under his command, he was afraid that after he tried to do something, the other side would disperse and run away, he would not ask for help from the fleet at all if he had a chance to do it on his own.

He did not want to spare any of them, which was why he brought in the fleet, because as far as he knew, there seemed to be several groups of these archaeologists, there were more than a hundred in total, and when they were all caught, it would be a very big merit.

"A lot of them?" Norville caught the key point sharply.

At this point, Spandine could only tell the truth: "According to our investigation, there are hundreds of these historical scholars, divided into several small groups, and they seem to have made some important discoveries this time, which is why they are gathered here."

  "Not surprising".

Norville was quite surprised before he came, he did not expect that there would be so many people.

  "Get us there quickly."

Realizing the seriousness of the matter, Norville did not hesitate and immediately turned to Spandine.

The conversation of Spandine and Norville also reached John's ears, and in his heart he was very surprised.

It appears that these scholarly historians were not all unarmed, otherwise a man like Spandine would have already taken action.

The group of more than a hundred people was not small.

But when you think about it, O'Hare, as the place with the largest number of scientists and archaeologists in the world, had a long heritage, and it didn't seem difficult to send a team of hundreds of people to study historical texts.
