Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Road Tripping

Jake's POV

Oh, this he did not like at all.

Fenrir laid against the back of the house. He'd had to strain hard to hear Ripley's phone call, but with these ears, he hadn't missed much.

Fenrir.

His name was Jake.

But Fenrir.

It seemed things were much plainer in his wolf form. In this form, it was easy to see her as his mate, to take on her silly name for himself. Easy as breathing. She was his mate. He would do whatever it took to be close to her, to keep her safe.

He began pacing.

He knew he should just lie back down and not risk being spotted by Ripley.

Fenrir visited Ripley so often that the neighbors no longer did double takes as he passed. They no longer hurried inside to lock their doors or sped past in their cars. Of course, Ripley didn't know that. Fenrir liked to stay in control of their interactions, but he liked that he was less noticeable now that the neighbors weren't afraid.
