Chapter 5: Chapter Five ( A Strange Encounter)
Isla quickly got up from her bed in the morning, not interested in anything except checking on Iris. She rushed without tasting any food, and as soon as she reached the beach, her heart pounded with fear for Iris. She called out to her at the top of her voice, and Iris responded immediately, jumping towards her. Isla embraced her with joy, relieved to see her healthy and full of vitality, tears filling her eyes.
While they were together, Isla noticed a helicopter flying nearby, catching her suspicion. However, she continued playing with Iris, enjoying her company. Iris had become her entire life. How could her life be complete without her? She managed to forget the loss of her mother by envisioning a life far away from her and her father, where no one knew them on this earth. She knew it was a strange thought in a life she had only heard about from her father. But sometimes she wondered if there would come a day when she would meet a stranger and if that would bring more happiness and hope into her life.
Lost in her endless thoughts, she suddenly collided with someone, unexpectedly falling into the water. It was a strange person whom she didn't know where he came from or how he ended up there.
Isla stood there, astonished and visibly surprised by the person she found in front of her. Instead of speaking to her gently, he yelled in her face, saying, "You must apologize and ask for my forgiveness for what you just did."
Isla paid no attention to him and turned away, leaving him grumbling.He followed her, asking with emotion, "Do you know someone named James?"
As soon as she heard her father's name, she stopped, surprised, and asked him, "Why do you want him, and how do you know him?"
He explained to her that he was looking for him for research purposes. At that moment, she introduced herself, saying, "I am James's daughter. I will guide you to him."
He extended his hand to her, staring at her and amazed by her presence alone in that desolate place. She, in turn, shook his hand, feeling her heart pounding faster than usual at the touch of a stranger's hand. She asked him to follow her home, silent and as if there was a bird on her head.Before leaving, Isla reassured her friend Iris and told her, "Don't worry, my friend. I will take the gentleman home and return quickly."
She arrived home, rushing inside and calling for her father, who seemed surprised by her swift return. He was even more astonished to find her accompanied by a man, whom she introduced as someone searching for him.
The stranger spoke, saying, "My name is Daniel, and I have come from America to find you. I am a representative of the scientific research company specializing in marine science."
James greeted him warmly, saying, "I understand the situation. Welcome to our home. Let's first enjoy a cup of coffee. I'm still not fully awake. Is Isla here?"
The stranger replied, "Thank you for your kind invitation, sir. Isla invited me here."
They sat around the table, having breakfast, and Isla stole glances at the stranger, blushing whenever their eyes met. He, too, received her gaze without looking away, causing her cheeks to turn red.
