Chapter 2: Paralyzed
Something awoke.
Deep within the abyss known as subconsciousness, something awoke.
It was new to this world so it knew nothing.
It was just floating around amidst endless darkness.
It felt nothing.
It could not speak as it knew no language, it could not properly think either. It was just... existing.
Suddenly a blue holographic screen popped out in front of it.
[Host's body have sufficiently recovered.]
[It has been detected that host's soul's outer membrane has been wiped clean]
[Existing skills have been lost]
[Existing memories have been lost]
[Personal traits have been altered]
[...]
[The system will now try to recover host's memories]
The thing stood still.
Then it felt pain.
Extreme pain
It would have screamed out loud until it's throat gave up if it had a voice.
It would have scratched it's face until nothing was left if it had a face and hands.
It would have tore it's heart out and gripped it hard if it had a heart.
Anything to stop the pain.
It is quiet pitiable how the first thing it felt was pain.
But it can't be helped, it did not belong there in the first place.
The dark abyss it was floating in had an owner.
And it wanted him back.
Slowly, the thing formed hands and feet, arms and legs, a torso and a head.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
It regained it's voice.
Torrents of images was flashing inside it's head.
From the moment it was born to the moment where it was desperately pleading for survival.
Then the pain stopped suddenly just like how it had arrived.
The thing had disappeared.
Instead of it however, a young man stood. He had black hair, icy blue eyes and somewhat handsome face.
Aster had returned from the brink of death.
But he needed rest first.
So he slept.
He had the best sleep of his life.

Slowly Aster woke up
And he saw... nothing
Pitch black darkness surrounded him.
He tried to get up but he couldn't move his body.
He then realized that his eyes were still closed. He tried to open them but failed.
Panic was setting in.
'Fuck, fuck, fuck, what the fuck is happening?' he thought.
'Wasn't I supposed to be going to Gaia? But then what the hell is happening??? Don't tell me I got into an accident and got into coma and that whole thing was just a dream!?!!?'
However to his relief, a familiar blue window popped out in front of him. Except that it wasn't the thing that he expected.
[The host has successfully recovered]
[New unique skills have been acquired]
[New unique skills: [Overwrite], [Erase], [Inscribe], [Rewrite] and [True sight Lv 1]]
A monotone feminine voice spoke.
'Whoa, whoa, wait a second. Unique skills? And five of them? What the hell is happening'
[Explanation: The host has been caught up inside an energy storm and absorbed a lethal amount of it. Out of desperation, the host has transmitted the excess energy to the soulguide and thereby evolving it.]
'Ok, but why don't I remember it?'
[The memory recovery performed by the system using the unique skills was not perfect so an insignificant case of slight memory loss has occurred. It is the best for the host's well being that he doesn't remember the events that occurred after the teleportation.]
'Whoa, a system that actually cares for it's host? How rare.' Aster mused.
[The system is bound to the host so it's not care for the host, rather for self preservation.]
'The same thing really'
'Anyways, Status, time to find out why I can't move'
