Chapter 114: The faithful

I had told you, didn't I? I wasn't particularly a faithful. I didn't care about the gods, or whether they were alive or not. And I didn't care much if my people prayed to a goddess that was said to be dead, either. Dead or alive, nothing was going to change, they would still look for some kind of way to pronounce their faith to. To look for hope when times get difficult, a reassurance that things would get better. Because the goddess was there, even when she might actually not be listening. You could pray and confess, and with that you could let your worries or your sins off your chest. 

"That can't be right." It was out of my mouth before I could stop myself. 

"Oh but it is," I heard Ciri say. "Nothing can ever change that. No one could have survived that tragedy, not even gods."
