Chapter 16: The righting

"How could he?", sobbed Tariro.

"There, there", Nomalanga counselled her.

"But he promised", went on Tariro.

"That's men for you they rarely ever keep their word".

"No no no, this can't be", he seemed so sincere, insisted Tariro.

"Well now you know all men..."

"Please don't say it", Tariro interjected cutting Nomalanga off in mid sentence, holding up a hand.

"Ok said", Nomalanga getting up from the dressing table chair where she had been applying make up to herself with the assistance of Tariro.

"How do I look?", Nomalanga asked straightening herself in her wedding gown.

The question pierced like a stab to the heart. Even though Nomalanga had painstakingly explained to Tariro that she was only getting married to Tinashe to save Marova logistics thereby safeguarding jobs including Tariro's.
