INT. - BELLE'S DINER - NIGHT

Gerri sat at the tacky table in the dive diner on the waterfront, watching Flashman down a burger so fast it made her stomach ache. He slurped on his strawberry milkshake with enthusiasm, playing the happy homeless guy to the hilt, even leering at the young waitress who did her best to avoid him. Her grim expression twisted her features as she slammed the check down on the table and stalked away.

"Guess we're not welcome here." Detective Ortega, street name Flashman, winked at Gerri before stuffing the remains of his burger past the filth and heavy beard on his face. She'd never seen him cleaned up, only ever encountering him in a state of disgusting. And yet, her old partner, Joe Mutch, trusted and respected Eric Ortega, had mentored him before the detective joined vice and went undercover.

And that was good enough for Gerri. It helped Flashman was a good cop and kind of fun to hang out with and piss off young waitresses.
