Lucas exhaled in a rush as he parked the car in front of the Barnes institute and faced Imani. She had gone back to being quiet after they left the pharmacy and at this point, it was beginning to feel like she was punishing him. Well if she was, it was working because he felt like hell now.

"Imani," he said gently as she picked up the pharmacy bag and she hmmed in response, raising her brows at him like she hadn't just ignored him for majority of the ride here. "I'm sorry. I really am."

"For what?" she asked and looked into the bag, raising her brows even more when she saw the packs of condoms in it. He held her hand and her eyes went back to his as he intertwined their fingers, placing a kiss on the back of her palm.
