Chapter 1: New kid

Alec awoke in his uncles suburban driving down the highway. The SUV was being assaulted by the falling rain. The drops where heavy, all alec could hear was the rain hitting the SUV. The car sped through the mountains of Alaska. From what alec could see the mountains and general landscape of the area was gorgeous. It was a complete 180 compared to the grasslands of Kansas.

They still had a couple more hours left before they arrived at Alec's new home. It was a medium-sized town called bright burn. Wich was kinda funny considering that most of the time the place was covered in overcast making the town seem quite dreary. This also was a complete change for Alec as during the summer Kansas was hot as hell and sunny.

Alex slowly fell back to sleep, the sounds of the rain lulling him to dreamland. When Alex awoke the suburban was pulling into town. Brightburn was a decent size town with a population of just over 15,000. The town was old and had a long history that came with its age. The town was built coming down a mountain. This made the whole town feel like it was on the slope because it was. The valley between the next mountain over and Brightburn was a lake that was one of the main spots for the activities in the town lakeside parties, fishing and just about everything else people can think of.

Alex's new home was located on the edge of town the very most northern house with the mountain the town was built on to the west and the lake is just under a mile east. The house was a modern house which looked out of place around here considering most of the houses look more along the line of log cabins. But Alex's uncle, Uncle Greg, was pretty well off. He was the local Sheriff But had a lot of money from his late grandfather who passed away and left most of his life savings to the favorite son. Alex's uncle was a somewhat young bachelor being 31. Compared to Alex who was a 14 year old.

The Suv pulled into the driveway. Of the two-story house. The house was built with lots of windows which gave it an open feeling.

"Well Alex, we're here. You like what you see?".....there was an awkward pause. A look of sadness overtook Greg's facial expression.

"Look Alex I know your still hurting from what your father did but you stuck here now and I'm not sure how to do this parenting thing but I'm going to make it work, no we're going to make it work ok?" Alex looks at him with a blank face that had a hint of lost in it.

"Ok" was all Alex could muster up to say he hasn't felt the whole talking thing for the last month. One day Alex woke up and went down for breakfast and his dad wasn't there. Usually, his father was there but he wasn't this morning. Alex didn't think much of it, but when two days went by and his dad still didn't show up, he called the only person left in his family, his uncle.

Now here he was just over a month and his father still hasn't been found. All of his belongings were gone as well. It was like he decided he didn't want his life anymore and just left him. Alex already had to deal with never having a mother but now he has to deal with the fact that his father decided he didn't want him anymore. As you could imagine this left him feeling abandoned and lost.

"Well, Alex here's your room." Alex's room was pretty big. Big enough to be considered a master bedroom in a normal house.

"OK, well get the rest of your things from the trailer tomorrow after I get off work, You got school tomorrow and you're going to be a month behind your freshman year, so be ready to bring home notes and whatever they give you. If you need any help with your homework, don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it, Ok buddy?"

"Yeah, thanks, Greg. can I just be left alone for the rest of the day?"

Greg had a look of hurt on his face, he wasn't used to being pushed away from moody teenager yet. "Yeah sure no problem, oh yeah if you do decide to go outside don't go too far into the woods, there's a local population of wolves."

Greg shut the door as he left. Alex flopped down onto the bed. He just laid there thinking about the last month or so. He began to cry into the bed. After an hour he ran out of tears. He just laid there for another hour. "Fuck this" Alex sprung from his bed and snuck downstairs. His uncle the presumed went to bed already from a long day of driving. He went through the kitchen and out the back door he was going to go to the lake. The only problem was that there was no clear path to the lake.

Alex looked around for one but decided to just push through the trees. As Alex pushed through the forest he felt like he was heading towards the lake but after a good twenty minutes, he didn't think he was heading in the right direction anymore.

As Alex was wondering where he was he didn't realize that there were two very large red eyes aimed right at him.

Alex came to an opening where the moonlight came shiny down lighting up the opening. Alex went to the middle and was astonished by the beauty of this place. The opening seemed to help Alex clear his head. He laid down in the middle of the opening and just cleared his mind. It was almost like he was in a trance.

But what happened next shocked Alex to the core of his soul. A howl was louder than anything Alex had ever heard before jolted him to his feet. Alex looks around the opening and what caught his vision was terrifying. A huge black mass with two large red eyes were staring right at him, no into his soul. Alex turned and ran for his life he knew if he was caught he wouldn't live to see the next day.

He ran for his life. He suddenly felt a very sharp pain across his entire back. But he kept running. Eventually, he reaches his house again he didn't stop he ran straight inside and slammed the door shut. He looks outside through the windows but couldn't see anything. He went up to his room and looked at his back using the mirror.

What he saw horrified him. Is back looked like it was bitten by something huge the teeth marks had scrapped down his back. The bleeding had stopped because of the teeth marks were not deep just long. Alex was soo tired he felt like he was going to pass out any second but he knew he needed help or his wounded would get effected and he could be in series trouble. But when he stood up his body stopped following his commands and he fell on the floor.

He didn't just fall on the floor he also fell into a deep sleep. As he slept he kept dreaming about wolves and he couldn't stop hearing the howl from earlier.

The next morning when Alex woke up he looked at his self in the mirror and was shocked.
