Chapter 8: 8. THE PROPOSAL (1)
My dad told me to go to my mother's supermarket, that's where the proposal will take place because it's the biggest in Lagos and Nigeria.
Since the supermarket is very big a lot of people will be present and they'll surely take pictures and make headlines with it.
On my way there with Joanna an unknown number called me and I reluctantly picked the call.
"How may I help you?'' I asked first
"you just don't know when you chill, do you?" I heard his voice, Nelson. How did he get my contact. Of course my dad gave it to him, I thought
"Who gave you my number?" I still asked even when it's obvious
"God, yeah God gave it to me" he replied sarcastically
"I asked a simple question and I deserve an answer." I said in an bossy tone
"Listen here girl, I'm not one of your father's maid or workers that you'll use that tone with, you understand?" He warned and I rolled my eyes
"And what are you gonna do about it huh?" I folded my hand
"Just don't use this tone with me next time, talk to me with respect" he said and I burst into laughter
"Oh my dear Nelson, you're very funny. You should try doing comedy, it would suit you so well I promise" I laughed again
"You're crazy" he said and I laughed again
"You haven't seen anything Nelson, you haven't. This is just the tip of an iceberg" I crossed my legs and flipped my hair obviously feeling myself
"You haven't seen the smallest part of me too" he said and I scoffed
"You're just saying rubbish, you lack sense Nelson" I said, I knew I'll touch a bad spot with my words and that's the aim
"How dare you, look at this rat that I'm managing"
Did he just say he's managing me? And he also called me a rat
"You're very stupid!" I shouted
"Don't insult me Young lady, I'm not your mate" he warned
"Then act like the "ADULT" that you are" I emphasized on the "Adult" sarcastically
"Even God knows that if I didn't accept to marry you, nobody will. With this your smelling attitude? nahhhh" he said and I fumed in anger
"Do you know how many guys are dying to have me?" I asked feeling insulted
"Yes, they're dying. The smell of your attitude is killing them" He backfired
"How dare you" I said angrily, I was getting frustrated already. Nobody has ever talked to me like this before but since I met this idiot, he gets on my nerves even without trying.
"Shut up and listen to me" he said
"Don't tell me to shut up, you can't tell me what to do" I said
"Alright then, anything that happens there you'll take it in good faith" he said
"Fineeeeeeee then, instead of me to listen to you" I shouted
"Whatever" he said
"Whatever to you too" I folded my hands
"Whatever to you three" he said and I hissed
"Don't piss me off all else you wouldn't like the outcome" I gave a Stern warning
"Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla I'm tired already, say something meaningful" he said
"You're very stupid" I said
"I'm used to that word already, whatever to you four" he teased
"Tch" I said with pure irritation
"By the way, I called because your dad said I should tell you...." he was saying before I cut the call, how dare he try to tell me what to do.
He kept calling back but I didn't even pick, who does he think he is. A whole daughter of Chief Akim Adekunle, he must be out of his mind
"The two of you would be a very funny couple, anytime I'm bored I'll come to you and Nelson's house to laugh" Joanna jokingly said and I gave her a very Stern look
"I'm very serious, the two of you suits each other. Thank God he isn't sentimental, you'd have turned him to a rug, telling him to worship you. Your dad gave you your match" she laughed the more
"Shut up" I said
"You know I'm right" she tickled my sides and I laughed a little
"I'm not in the mood please" I stopped her
"The Damilola I know is never in the mood, never ever. She's always out of the mood" She teased and I laughed
"I don't blame you" I said laughing
"Why would you blame me, I'm not the cause of your miserable life" she teased and I laughed more, playfully pushing her head
"So you're going to be engaged today, I'm so happy for you" She was obviously trying to get on my nerves
"I wouldn't give you what you want Joan" I shook my head
"Because you're not in the mood" she said and we laughed. That's why I love Joanna, she makes me happy even without trying much. She's really my best friend
"Whatever" I said and we burst into laughter again.
