Chapter 19: Delivering Supplies
"Son, I have a mission for you."
"Father, please tell me," Fujiki replied, standing upright with excitement in his heart. He longed for his father's approval.
"Do you know the name, Chiba?"
"Yeah, that guy who smells like... you know," Fujiki responded, acknowledging that he knew who Chiba was.
Almost all the ninjas in Konoha Village were familiar with him. He had quite a notorious reputation.
"The supply station you are stationed at is where he is responsible for delivering supplies. The task I entrust to you is to teach him a lesson when you meet him!"
Chiba woke up feeling hungry once again. He had spent a long time practicing ninjutsu the previous night until he had very little chakra left.
[Available Chakra (upgradeable): 401/500]
Glancing at the chakra amount displayed on the panel, Chiba's spirits lifted immediately. He distinctly remembered having just over 50 chakras left last night, so how did it recover to 400 after sleeping?
"As long as I eat a meal, my chakra replenishes within minutes!"
Touching his empty stomach, Chiba jumped off the bed. As soon as he walked out of the house, he spotted a familiar figure.
"It's you? I thought you weren't coming," Chiba said, pleasantly surprised to see the visitor. Moreover, the girl was holding a lunch box in her hand.
"Here, this is your breakfast," Aburame Shizuka handed over the lunch box and then walked around Chiba.
"My bugs haven't come out yet..."
She sounded disappointed as she casually took out a tissue from her sleeve. Initially, Chiba thought the tissue was for him, but Shizuka used it to wipe her own mouth.
"This tissue isn't for you," she clarified, her expression becoming serious.
"Eat quickly and hit the road after you're done."
"On the road? Where to?" Chiba asked, puzzled.
Chiba's confusion deepened as Shizuka replied, "Master Danzo has issued an order. You must deliver supplies to Supply Station No. 1 immediately. I am here to inform you."
Outside the gates of Konoha Village.
Looking at the bullock cart filled with supplies in front of him, Chiba felt even more bewildered. Food delivery, ox carts, supplies—everything seemed to be arranged for him. Even before he reached the cart, Shizukana, a masked guard at the village entrance, waved him goodbye.
"Am I really that bothersome?" Chiba sighed, feeling lonely. Nonetheless, he prepared to board the bullock cart.
As he approached the cart, the old ox turned its head and sniffed Chiba's body.
Moo!!!
With the sound of the ox, the creature's hooves kicked the ground, propelling it forward as if it were flying.
"Damn it! I haven't even gotten on the cart yet. Wait for me!" Chiba exclaimed.
In the dense forest of the Land of Fire, more than a dozen figures gathered by a river. They were the infiltration team led by Rosa.
If the Konoha authorities were to witness this scene, they would surely be shocked. After all, everyone believed that the attacking Sand Shinobi had retreated and left the Land of Fire after the three supply depots were bombed. Yet here was Rosa, leading his team, still lurking.
"Master Rosa, when should we take action?" one of the Sand Shinobi's subordinates asked, seemingly unable to bear the situation any longer. They had been lurking for two days, surviving on fish, which made them almost sick.
Rosa smiled slightly after scanning his subordinate.
"Don't worry, the time will come," he assured them, his gaze deep and meaningful.
As a disciple of the Third Kazekage, Rosa possessed tremendous strength. He was not only a high-level Jōnin but also had the rare Bloodline Limit ability—Magnet Style.
...
Chiba was going insane. He had been chasing the bullock cart from outside the village entrance.
"Who the hell is this guy looking for?" he cursed, running frantically to keep up with the cart.
"There's no way an ordinary ox could move this fast. It's faster than a dog!" Chiba thought as he struggled to catch up.
"This cow must be out to get me!"
Despite his complaints, Chiba continued to run, covered in dust and dirt as he trailed behind the cart.
Unable to bear it any longer, he activated his ability directly—the Reincarnation of Grains.
"Stop right there!" he shouted, but to his disbelief, the cow kept running.
Puff!!!
With a loud thud, the old ox finally came to a halt. As Chiba climbed onto the cart, he was surprised to see the ox lying motionless on the ground.
"Did it run out of energy?" Chiba wondered, looking at the large pile of cow dung on the ground.
