Last time on Naruto: Road To Kage. Chapter 10: The Real Plan Or At Least A Part Of It –
And he finally replied after carefully thinking about it. "I'll say that she'll least reach the kage rank, but that's only if she can survive my training and not die in the middle."
"Die?!" She exclaimed.
"I meant to say give up, it's the same." He replied nonchalantly and turned to sleep off his exhaustion.
Now Continuing —
He was woken a few hours later, by his sensei, "Satoru, here, eat this." She said as she passed him a bowl of what looked to be seaweed soup.
Upon trying to move his hand, he found that he could move around a bit more freely now.
"Thank you, sensei." He said as blew on the hot soup to cool it down a little before he took a slurp.
Looking through the Shoji screen door that was left open and provided a view of the backyard, he found that the day time had passed, and it was almost nighttime now.
"Sensei, will I be sleeping here?" He asked her as he drank a spoonful, it was delicious.
"Where else are you going to go in this situation? You can barely muster the strength to even walk." She chided him gently, not wanting him to over exert himself.
"I can drag myself back home if need be." He said with an impish grin.
"Just stay the night, I insist." She said with a bit of force behind her words, finally getting a bit serious.
"Thank you, sensei." He replied with a smile, enjoying the care she showed for him.
"Here are a few books on advanced human anatomy and chakra pathways you asked for." She said, and pointed to a few books stacked on his bedside table.
"Thanks, sensei.. Mito-sensei can I ask you something?" He asked carefully, not wanting to spook her.
"Hmm?" She questioned humming.
"Did something bad happen?" He wanted to be straightforward with her, after all, she was an Uzumaki.
That question of Satoru's really surprised her, but her training kicked in, and she didn't give any outward reaction except for a blank look. But for Satoru that look was enough, he could see the pain, the sadness, and desolation reflected in her eyes.
She reminded him of his own grandmother, despite looking like his mother in outward appearance. His grandmother had the same kind of look in her eyes for days after she lost grandpa. Hashirama was obviously still alive, so it was probably Tsunade's parents or someone close to her that she lost.
"Under no circumstances are you to ever reveal what I'm about to tell you to Tsunade." She said in a serious tone.
"You have my word." Satoru replied resolutely as he put aside the empty bowl. The soup seemed to spread a gentle warmth throughout his entire body and invigorated him.
"It was Hanaku, Tsunade's father, who was leading a squad of Chunins alongside two other Jonins on a patrol between the borders of Land of Fire and Earth."
"There had been rumors of Shinobis from the Hidden Rock Village trespassing into our land, and recently a report of a village near the border being pillaged had reached us."
"So, my son had been sent out with his squad to investigate. Unfortunately, we had failed to realize at that moment that it was a trap."
"From the reports of the chunins that our son helped safely get away, we got to know that they were aiming for someone like my son, from the very beginning."
"So he did the smartest yet the dumbest thing at the same time." She said with a fond yet sad look on her face.
"He separated from the chunins and told them to escape while he distracted the enemy shinobis." Satoru replied, guessing what had happened.
"Hai." She said, proving his guess to be correct.
"I feel pride in his selfless decision of putting the lives of his subordinates and the village over himself. But what would I not give to see my son standing before me alive.. healthy and safe."
"What happened?" He asked carefully, not wanting to come off too curious, on the inside he wanted to know because Tsunade's parents were never mentioned in the manga.
"Well.. as you said, he led the enemies towards a different path, and after making sure there were no innocents in the vicinity."
"He made his preparations and blew them all up along with himself using a combination of Explosive Seals and an unnamed fire style technique taught to him by Madara himself."
On the basis of human resources alone, he could confidently say that the hidden village had lost a sizable chunk of their elite ninjas. They were probably trying to kidnap a politically important figure which they could use to bargain later.
"From the after action report, we realized that they wanted to capture a high rank ninja from konoha, preferably one with political importance as well."
Satoru just nodded, seeing his assumption turn out to be correct.
"And your son perfectly fits that bill." He muttered.
"Yeah."
"They sent a full squad of elite jonins after him, he had only two choices. He could either stick with his team and be slowly whittled down to the last man standing."
Satoru's eyes widened a bit, from Mito's words he could infer that Hanaku, her son, was probably an elite Jonins. Previously, he had assumed that the Rock Village had sent a squad of normal Jonins.
But to think he would be able to take down an entire squad of elite jounins by sacrificing himself and allowing his subordinates to safely escape was a feat worthy of respect.
He truly was the son of these two legendary figures.
"Or he could be a distraction, so his team could escape." He said in turn when he saw that she fell silent.
"Yes."
"I don't want to lose Tsunade to this life, to the life of a Ninja."
"She won't, she has her grandparents, her mom and now me. I think she'll be fine."
"She has a brother as well."
"Huh?"
"My daughter-in-law recently gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Nawaki Senju. The heir of the Senju Clan."
Satoru had no idea about what to say to her. Should he congratulate her? But it would feel empty because of the tragedy that occurred alongside the happy occasion.
"I want Tsunade to be trained by you, so she can realize the truth of the Shinobi world."
"Despite not coming from a Shinobi family you seem to understand it very well, her father's death was a shock to her. But now it seems it wasn't enough, as she still looks at the world from her rose-tinted glasses."
"If it were up to me. I would never take them off. But seeing the dark times that are ahead of us, it is important that she sees this world for what it truly is.." She spoke in a sad tone, but didn't finish her sentence, as she just fell silent.
Satoru finished it for her once again, or at least he tried to. "A Hell, where only those who are strong can survive and protect what is their own."
"But you can't do it yourself, you love her too much." Satoru spoke up, coming to the realization, it was a question that had bugged him before he went to sleep.
After all, Tsunade had two God of Shinobi level figures in her family along with Mito who was in a league of her own. But for some contrived reason, she was asking him to teach her.
If he didn't know any better, he would have expected such forced plot development from a fanfic writer who wanted his protagonist to get with Tsunade.
But he had already met with R.O.B and knew that all this was real, or maybe the multiverse theory was actually right. And somewhere out there really is an author whose writing a Naruto fanfic and coincidentally their story is a complete match for his own life.
So did that coincidence discount his existence? He didn't think so, for he believed that both could be real and exist at the same time. After all, in the multiverse theory every possibility that could happen.. will happen.
In a way, it was simply the infinite monkey theorem at play.
"Yes. So I asked you to do it for me." Her words broke him out of his Multiverse spanning introspection of whether he was "real" or not.
"I'll do my best, Mito-sensei, I won't just train her to be a strong kunoichi. But also try my best to equip her with the tools to properly process and handle the sadness and trauma that comes with this life."
"Arigatō, Satoru-kun." She said with a grateful smile, her own intuition and the kyuubi's lie detection told that Satoru truly meant his words. Finding such a disciple was a gift she hadn't expected life to just drop at her doorstep.
"Sensei, can I ask you something?" Satoru asked, after thinking for a bit, there was a question bugging him.
"Of course, never hesitate to ask me anything, okay?" She replied with a kind smile.
He nodded with a smile and asked, "If I understand correctly, me," he said pointing at himself, "accepting the role of your," this time he pointed at her, "guardian makes me a member of the Senju clan, right?"
She nodded and added to his statement, "and the Uzumaki as well," she looked and spoke out loud as if talking to herself, "that reminds me.. I'll need to send a letter about your appointment as clan guardian."
Seeing his worried look, she decided to explain the situation a little more to put his worries to rest. "Don't worry Satoru-kun your true name and identity won't be revealed."
"I see, thank you, Mito-sensei."
"So.. my question was that if Hashirama-sama gives me an order, and you give me an order as well, then whose order takes priority?" He finally asked his question, he asked in a roundabout way on purpose.
"Oh, you can't be ordered by anyone. Well, except for me, obviously." This was exactly what he wanted to hear.
"So even–" He started asking in an excited tone, but his teacher had already guessed what was on his mind.
"Yup, not even Hashi-kun or Tobi-kun can order you around. You are a member of the Senju clan, but not exactly a normal one. As I am responsible for you, so any good or bad you and your other identity does will reflect on me."
"And only I can order you to do something."
"But what they can do is ask you to do things, but make no mistake. It's a request rather than an order. You can choose to reject it if you don't like it, or you are too busy with something else."
"Now, Tobi-kun liked a few of your inventions–"
"He liked my seal?!" He couldn't help but exclaim, feeling a bit shocked.
"Why wouldn't he? Anyway, I'll be there when he'll be trading for these seals, as I don't think you really know the value of your seals yet."
"Trading?"
"Yeah, an exchange? What, did you think that I was just going to let him take your invention for free?"
Seeing his blushing, embarrassed face, only made her chuckle. It was nice to see her disciple act more of his age once in a while. His speech patterns and behavior were way too mature; and he sounded more grown-up in the way he talked than her Hashi-kun.
"Thanks, Mito-sensei."
"Now rest up, I don't want you to stay awake reading up into the night. Your mind really needs the rest."
"By the end of the week, Futsu Satoru will be taken out of the academy system, his new "medical condition" will be officially established as well, and then he'll be given a plot of land to cultivate under my name."
"Do you have any plans for tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I'm thinking about sparring with Tsunade, just taijutsu, I want to gauge where she's at and also to test her will."
"Don't you think it's a bit too early?"
"Rather than wasting time. I would like to see, for myself, if she's got what it takes to be my student."
"I was referring to you, you fool.. You need at least a week or two of rest to make a full recovery."
"Ah, my bad. But it should be fine. How far can she push me, she's just 4."
"And you're 6.."
He just chuckled and said, "it'll be fine."
.
..
.
He spent the night reading up the human anatomy, chakra pathways, and chakra natures. It was an enlightening read, he cleared up quite a few of his misconceptions about chakra and the anatomy of the Shinobi body.
These misconceptions had been mostly due to either the differences between the manga and this reality, or due to his assuming stuff to fill in the gaps of the information missing in the manga. Like about yin and yang release, he had thought that it was a very rare chakra element.
But after a thorough reading, he found that it was instead the opposite, with yin and yang release being the most common and basic of all chakra nature releases.
Another misconception of his was that shinobis were like glass cannons, unless your name is either Naruto or Sasuke. It wasn't true, it's just the base level of Shinobi's durability is a level below their actual strength.
Only those that had been training their body judiciously have a durability comparable to their power ranking. Like Lee and Gai-sensei, at least when they aren't actively enhancing their bodies by using chakra, because when chakra is involved the power scaling and stats gets all over the place.
Another thing he found was that Genjutsu was actually OP, but it was just that shinobis for some contrived reason didn't think of using it in that manner. Maybe there was a limitation that he still didn't know of because of his gap in knowledge.
But it didn't matter, as he could just make seals that would bridge that gap, and make his idea into a reality. Now, what was this super OP genjutsu technique that he came up with? It wasn't exactly a technique but rather a different way of applying genjutsu.
In the world of Naruto, genjutsu is applied by sending in one's own chakra into the body of their enemy to basically hijack their chakra network and make them see illusions. While this was a very creative way of explaining the mechanism behind the art of illusions, it was also very inefficient.
Rather than sending the chakra into the body of the enemy, Satoru thought about sending it into the environment of the enemy. And then he would control that chakra to basically create chakra constructs or projections. Like the illusions of Loki and any other fictional character.
This method came with a benefit and a drawback, the benefit was that he didn't even need to be aware of the enemy or actively target them to fool them with his illusions.
But it was also the drawback, because the illusions were basically projections in the real world. It would lose a lot of its subtlety, and he wouldn't be able to target just one person in a group.
Another drawback was that he could only use visual genjutsus this way, as the auditory genjutsu would need a completely different method of delivery.
He had known of a genjutsu that worked on the same principle. But it was the only one of its kind and was deemed a forbidden technique by Tobirama and put down in the scroll of seals. Yes, he was talking about the Bringer of Darkness.
Another technique that worked on the same principle as he was planning on using for his style of genjutsu was the humble yet broken Transformation Jutsu. But instead of making a projection on the environment, it instead made the projection on oneself.
The thing that made it so broken came from the fact that rather than the transformation being a simple cosmetic illusion. It actually serves as a real transformation or transfiguration for the potterheads.
After reading on the tenketsu points in the body and focusing his area of study on specifically the head. He was able to finally understand the exact location of the first hidden gate.
Normally, it took him a lot of focus and needed to be in actual danger to be able to force him to unlock the first gate. But now he felt like he could do so, just flexing his chakra to course through that hidden gate.
His studies also allowed him to create or at least theorize a new seal, it was based on the Byakugan and if it worked as he thought of in his head. It would allow him to have a perfect 360° vision, kilometers of range, zoom in function, and more.
He decided to create the seal on an eye mask and the seal would go around the eye mask covering every inch of it, essentially becoming his new eye. He named it the [True All Seeing Eye Seal], because unlike the Byakugan which had a blind spot at the back of the neck.
The vision granted by his seal was true 360° vision with no blind spots, he was still thinking of a way to give it chakra sight, but that will take longer. For now, the chakra sensing ability of his fake sage seal would have to do, even though he could only sense people when he entered his sage mode and held it active.
It still wasn't that bad, as it allowed him a sensing range in a 2-kilometer radius. All he had to do was activate the seal, enter sage mode and stand still, even though he couldn't move.
He could still sense the chakra of every creature in a 2-kilometer radius, this allowed him to bypass the only problem with the sage mode he was currently facing.
It was that he couldn't do a physical move and keep his sage mode active. It was because his physique was too weak and if he tried to do so he would slowly turn to stone.
After doing his study session and theorizing the creation of the new Dōjutsu seal, he was finally coming on to the final task of his day. It was to create a new plan to achieve his next goal, and he already had quite a lot of them.
The first goal was to trade one or more of his original seals in exchange for the [Flying Thunder God Technique]. Yes, he was totally planning on stealing Minato's thunder, but rather than becoming the boogeyman of the elemental nations.
He wanted to become the guardian angel of the Senju clan, and he planned on doing so without even lifting a finger. And from the comfort of his home, all this without even needing any active input from him.
But for that plan to come to fruition, he needed to master the [Flying Thunder God Seal] and advance it beyond the level even the prodigious Minato would take it.
Before sleep could take him, he thought about the special taijutsu he had been training in for the last few months. One he had been a practitioner of in his previous life after he saw a movie on it and immediately fell in love with the martial arts and the movie.
He thought of it because he was about to challenge Tsunade to a spar, only using taijutsu to prove himself to be capable of being her teacher and also to win her silence regarding his identity.
