Chapter 20: the kid
Though the system's realistic hologram at this stage of the game amazed Alex, there were still several bugs in the system's overall performance.
For one, the giant was too dumb and was tricked by Alex into signing a contract with practically no effort.
The giant didn't even look at the contract before signing it. That made Alex regret not giving it a slave contract from the start, but being too greedy could result in your head being detached from your body.
After the giant signed the contract, Alex didn't even stall for a second before attacking him with all he got.
The giant was so surprised that he didn't even have the time to dodge the attack aimed at his right arm.
Alex's sword hit the giant's arm and went through it as if nothing had happened.
The giant was dumb but not the level to not know what was happening here. He cursed Alex and turned around to leave, but as he was about to pass the ten-meter mark from Alex, an electric shock paralyzed him, and he dropped to the floor.
Alex had put a clause in the contract that stated that the giant couldn't move more than ten meters from him.
Alex was quick to react and hit the head of the giant with the back of his sword. The giant fainted, and a series of notifications flashed in front of Alex.
DING
"you have defeated the enemy Nimoid the water fairy."
"you are the first person in history to defeat an enemy much stronger than you."
"100,000 INBs have been added to your account."
"The requirements to use the title first master have been met."
"do you wish to enslave Nimoid,"
"yes/no."
Alex didn't even need to think before selecting yes.
"you have enslaved Nimoid the water fairy."
"you are the first person to enslave an enemy stronger than you."
"100,000 INBs have been added to your account."
"you are the first person to enslave an enemy by force."
"100,000 INBs have been added to your account."
"Congratulations on becoming Nimoid, the water fairy's master."
Alex skipped past the endless notifications until he found what he wanted.
"All of Nimoid's belongings now belong to you."
"do you wish to add Nimoid's belongings to your inventory?"
"yes/no."
Another easy decision for Alex to make.
It took about a minute for all of his belongings to be transported to Alex's inventory, "wow, I have never seen this much epic alchemy equipment in one place, and there is a legendary one as well…. I'm sure that person will be thrilled."
Alex read the list carefully and was astonished to see a legendary item in the midst of them, "even a legendary item is here; I hit the jackpot," screamed Alex in happiness.
On the other side of the field, Emily, who didn't get any of the notifications, looked at Alex like she was looking at a mentally ill person, "brother, you truly are ill." She murmured to herself when she saw Alex whistling and singing under his breath.
"Emily, we will conquer the world, do you hear me??" Alex grabbed Emily and lifted her up from the floor before turning and shouting, "we are going to conquer the world, babyyyy."
Emily laughed at her silly brother and enjoyed the happy ride. This was the first time since their dad died that Alex was laughing so purely out of joy, "Alex, you're making me dizzy; I'm going to puke,"
After a few more turns, Alex put her down and returned to Nimoid.
He hit him in the stomach and said, "wake up; I don't have time for this,"
Nimoid grumbled a bit before opening his eyes and looking at Alex with frightening eyes, "what did you do to me? I can't feel my treasures; what did you do with them? Give them back; I want my treasures back," his sentence began with a threat but ended with a cry.
It was as if a baby wanted their toys back. Alex looked at the scene with a bit of surprise and said, "you are my slave now, so just do as I say, and you can have them back and even more."
"really." Nimoid's eyes shown with happiness, and he looked at Alex with reverence.
Alex was confused for a bit, so then he asked, "how old are you?"
"I turn 264 this year."
"no wonder," Alex murmured to himself.
Fairies could live up to hundreds of thousands of years, and they could be considered immortals. A 200-year-old fairy was practically a child.
But what confused Alex the most was how a child like that could think of a plan to trick an alchemist and still her belongings.
"Tell me, how did you end up here?" asked Alex
"my master, she said that if I come here and could concoct the immortality potion for her, she would give me more toys to play with. But no matter how much I tried, I always failed. I never considered that an ingredient was missing though; master will be happy if I tell her this." Said Nimoid with a happy tone.
'he still calls her master and wants to help her? Did he really poison her?' thought Alex, "is this your real form?"
"no, my master said that if I don't want to be bullied by others, I should always appear like a water monster." Said Nimoid before starting to shrink and turning into a kid not much older looking than Emily.
"How long have you been up here?"
"I've been here for about a month. I miss my family."
"your family?? Is there more of you?" Alex asked with astonishment.
"yes, my mom and dad also work for the master," said Nimoid before continuing, "I had a little sister too, but she went missing about a year ago."
"Hmm, something smells fishy in here." Mumbled Alex
Nimoid face turned red, and said apolitically, "I'm sorry, that's probably me; I have only been eating fish for the past month."
"no, that's not what I mean…. Forget it, let's get back to your master, but before that, I want you to do something for me."
"but master will get mad if I return without the potion, she will hit me if I go back without it."
"it's ok, do as I say, and it will be alright."
Alex spent the next hour explaining his plan to Nimoid and Emily and then asked Nimoid to turn into his third form.
Nimoid turned into the most beautiful pearl in the world, and Alex put him in his pocket.
"Ok, from here on, you two just do I said,"
"But are you sure? Master is too powerful; I'm scared."
"don't be. I won't let her do anything to you or your family. Now, remember, stay hidden until Emily does her part and you are in the river; after that, it all depends on you and your parents."
