-Capt. Theodore-
"What did you do?" I asked Charlie as he was standing before the man who black-down.
"Making him fell to sleep." Charlie pointed the man who was currently lying on the ground motionless.
I was totally stressed out by this idiot. I told him to wait for my signal if this man act suspiciously, but he took action without even my knowledge that he will do it before I could even utter a word. "Did you understand what I just said last time?" I asked as I felt irritated.
"Yes, of course. I will wait for your signal to put him on sleep. And if he will act suspiciously, I will do same." Charlie said proudly like he just did my order.
"You really did understand what I said and yet you just did the opposite." I looked at him lazily. To be honest I already tired of his attitude.
"Sorry for that sir, but when he step down from this thing, he was already acting suspiciously. I only doing what you said, sir" Charlie replied as he tried to reason out.
I took a deep breath, shaking my head just to make myself not explode on anger. I am already holding myself and this man is pushing me to the limit.
"What should we do about this guy?" he asked.
Hearing him asking, I immediately inspected the man on the ground. His clothes are somewhat odd, long sleeves and black pants, partnered with black shoes? I've never seen a clothes like this before. Maybe he came from a far place, and their fashion is different. It might be true but if he does He should be a noble; and what a noble like him doing here at the border. He doesn't even have guards with him. And this thing, I shifted my attention to the thing in front of me. For some reason it resembles a tractor. Four rubberized wheels and cabin, but where is the engine? Engine set at the front of the vehicle, taking huge space for the boiler and pistons to work. But this? It was slick and slim with a marble like finished.
Is this thing can really run like those tractors used by military on the Southern Slope? But I saw it with my own eyes when it emerged from the woods, it doesn't even create noise. I wonder how much this thing cost. hmm...I fell into deep thought. The only way to know about this thing is to ask the owner itself.
"Bring this man to infirmary, his bleeding bad and get two more to look for him." I ordered.
"What about this thing, sir?" Charlie asked.
"Leave it here, we don't know what is this thing yet. We better be careful, besides the safety of this place is our main priority" I said slowly making sure he gets what I said. Charlie was a good soldiers, better than his peers, but there is only one thing, he acts unpredictable.
After giving him the orders, I turned around but stop midway, "One more thing, he might be a noble." I added.
Charlie was dumbfounded, he knows very will the consequences on not treating the noble, much more when you when you hit him on head.
After taking care of the event happened outside I returned to the Chief's house. Entering, I saw his daughter taking care of his brothers.
I stop and watch her, she was beautiful thought. Probably the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. If my daughter was still alive, she must have the same age, but he died in sickness three years ago.
It was winter, when I received the news. It said that she was infected by an incurable disease. All the royal doctors help but regardless, she died painfully. My heart broke when I remember what happened. If I am just at home during that time, I should be able to say how much I love her, how much I miss her.
I hate this damn war, if not because this, I should be at home with my wife.
"I heard that we got a noble visitor." I heard a voice coming from back. It was Chief Orillos, dressed on brown leather jacket with a fur on his nick.
"Yes, maybe? I don't know if he was really a noble, but by way I look at him, he was one." I replied amicably.
"Regardless, we should treat him better when we welcome him...hehehe" He laughed as his big stomach compliment his joy.
"Yeah, about that, I already instructed my men to take care of him. Anyway, that's not what I came for." I said, changing the topic to a much more serious matter.
"Yes, yes," the Chief nodded " come, lets find a better place to talk specially with that matter." He motioned me to follow.
At his study room, the Chief sat behind the mahogany table. Stacks of documents and scroll was piled up at his right side while on the left a tower of books. Behind him is shelves full of books while ornaments of different sides displayed at the sides. At the west side, a French window was built, greenish curtain hanging by while a single plant below it.
"How much time do we have?" he asked seriously.
"About a week or so." I said looking at his eyes. His eyelids slightly quivered, he look away. He was hiding his worry.
"Is that so?" I nodded to confirm. "What about my people?" he asked.
"The villagers can follow us until we reached the nearest city, which I think should be Argon. From then, they should separate from us, if they don't, we are not responsible for their safety." I said expecting what will be his reaction. To my surprise, he remained silent.. He just look at me blankly.
"Is there a way to defend this place?" He asked, hope started to born on his face.
Is he planning to remain here? I thought.
"I'm afraid not" I paused as I looked at him. His hand shook a little bit but he managed to stop."From what we've gathered, Queen Loraine of Adrada sent at least 2,000 knights to this place."
"2,000 Knights?" he thought for a moment "I have a thousand people out there, men, women, and children, how do we gonna do the relocation?"
I scratched my chin, thinking for the best answer I could get."To avoid any ambush or attack from wild beast, we should move on one go. It might be a big movement, but I think it should alleviate the pressure from the army."
I look at him, he seems hesitant to my plan " Additionally, the travel will take five days and during that time, we need more hands to prepare food and other stuff."
Chief Orrillos, tap his table drumming and said "Did you considered that we might get the attention of our enemy because of this huge commotion?"
"Yes of course,. we already laid the plan for this mission. And I am quite confident about it." I said. The truth is, I am not confident to myself that the plan will worked. I am just hoping that everything will go smoothly.
"Very will, I guess our safety is in you hand now" He said with a deep sight.
"Thank you for your trust Chief."
