Chapter 33: So far ahead... was I crawling all this time?

The single spar had fundamentally altered the structure of military zone #91.

When word eventually spread, because it was bound to, the group of geniuses learned of this and perceived the lack of reactions from the two instructors.

No disciplinary actions were taken against Anon for his actions in the infirmary pavilion; instead, Parkinson and Rolan awaited the results of Anon's mental transformation.

Whatever had caused this, if Anon was to return as a changed person, it may just make things even better.

Even better, specifically, for these two instructors who desired to produce a genius or geniuses capable of flipping the military academy into chaos.

Anon though, wasn't the only person who saw a change.

After seeing such a battle, Andrew Webb felt his heart thump with exhilaration.

This was something he desired, greatly.

His determination to awaken underwent its own evolution, becoming a burning obsession that set his heart ablaze.

Within the enlightenment tower, laughter and cheers erupted as Andrew, for the first time, descended the stairs of the platform without needing anyone's assistance.

On the third night since entering the military zone, Andrew Webb opened his mind's eye, awakening his dormant principle and becoming a stellar fighter.

He was now the fifth stellar genius in this program!

To truly understand how mind-bogglingly amazing this was, one must remember the words of a certain young master.

At the time, he said something that went along the lines of, 'Anon would never awaken in only two weeks.'

After all, to be none the wiser to the awakening process, not even knowing of the requirements for one's willpower, even if they learned of it earlier than those entering the official camp, it was difficult and improbable to open one's mind's eye in two weeks.

Andrew Webb did such a thing in three nights…

Do whatever you want with such info.

The darkness of night had enshrouded humanity's six cities.

The skies were still red but there was a lack of light as the stars clustered together to imitate the sun's production of light were in the process of circling the planet called earth.

In a room shrouded by such darkness, Nickyle sat on the edge of his bed, dazed.

Seth was someone he had looked down upon, as his focus was solely on the geniuses from the Core district who awaited his arrival at the military academy."

This same Seth had completely dominated and embarrassed him.

Said Seth did not even utilize much of his abilities to defeat him.

Such a Seth hadn't even taken many injuries, of which, all that he had suffered were intentional acts, he had defeated Nickyle without much effort.

Anon…

The orphan genius of St. Hope high school.

He did not look down on rank 1, mainly because rank 1 did not reach his gaze.

Like a random pebble on the side of the road, this description best suited Nickyle's outlook on Anon.

But he soon realized that Anon was one, perhaps two, or even three leagues above him.

What was he going to do against Anon?

Indefinitely evade?

Seth could react to Nickyle when Nickyle extracted the speed from his principle, and this same Seth could not dodge Anon's attacks…

Nickyle was arrogant but he wasn't dumb.

Added to that fact, Rolan's analysis playing out in his mind, although Anon's fighting seemed to be a simplistic one two, right left, goodnight, it was much more than just that.

He could not stand against Seth, and he could not stand against Anon…

He could not even stand alongside them.

They were in a realm above his, maybe two realms beyond him.

Like a frog at the bottom of a well or a fish suddenly thrown from a small pond into the vast sea.

He felt as if 'it' was trembling...

Time had long become a nonexistent concept.

This trembling will of his had formed cracks.

One crack made two more, and three cracks made six.

When spider cracks formed on glass, soon after it shattered.

Such logic could be used here as Nickyle's determination faltered, transforming into fragmented shards

But ego existed.

Ego can be detrimental to some, turning into their greatest adversary.

But at the same time, arrogance could be one's greatest asset.

When he felt his will fading, his ego descended from above and nurtured it, allowing it to rise from the ashes like a true phoenix.

How could he falter here, in this random camp?

Who was he?

Nickyle Orland, son of Napoleon Orland, a walker to another world and attainer of a title transcending the human system, an Otherworldly Knight!

Seth?

Anon?

They were geniuses indeed, but that was it, mere obstacles on his path.

What path?

His path.

His!

A protagonist needed to face adversity otherwise, of those who learn of his story, most would find it boring.

These two were his first challenge.

Difficult?

Yes, but it made the feeling of trampling over them that much sweeter.

"Firstly, I'd crush Anon, then, I'd devour the distance that separates me from Seth, and when all other doubt it the most, I'd flip sense that is common and shape it in my image."

On this night, an ego truly awakened, Nickyle's ego.

Catharina had on golden rimmed glasses and read a book under the light of an oil lamp.

Obviously, she could turn on the room's light, but she chose this option instead.

As she read, her soft mumblings contradicted the thoughts racing through her mind.

'Seth is strong,' She thought.

'And Anon is truly a genius.' She smiled.

'He'll surely catch up to Seth, and maybe, the two of them already view the other as their rival.'

'I should be happy for him, right…'

In one's life, there were a myriad of paths that one would embark on.

Currently, she found herself venturing the path of strength.

Initially, she plotted to walk forward and earn Anon's attention.

He did not open to anyone, but maybe, when seeing her strength, reverence would fester in his heart.

Now, having been defeated by Anon, she realized he had long been ahead of her on this path

And the battle against Seth made her realize how far in front he was.

And yet, he wasn't alone, instead, chasing after a person that wasn't her.

From far away, she could see the image of those two as they confronted one another, laughed with each other, and exchange intimacy with the other.

They seemed to be of another world, in another world.

One where she did not have a say in.

They ignored the world around them, a foreign world.

The foreign world, where she existed.

They did not see her causing her to ponder over her own existence.

In his eyes, did she even exist?

He was so far in front, it made sense why he didn't open to her, nor those in school, like her brother and Felix.

So lonely from a walk up ahead where all others had yet to reach.

And yet, he continued to walk.

With Anon, as one saw when he broke through mid-fight, attaining true mastery over Man Like Beast, on this path, his walk slowly morphed into a light jog, and now, he happily sprinted forward with someone he could understand, someone who understood him, Seth.

She, once thinking that she was walking, only now realized that she was just barely crawling forward.

Catch up to the sprinting Anon?

She was struggling to walk on her two legs!

At this time, Lyla slept peacefully.

Tomorrow, Seth was scheduled to face an instructor.

Obviously, it couldn't be Rolan or Parkinson, as both spent nine years in the military academy, they were simply too strong, above Seth completely.

Lyla was one of the many instructors in the camp of ten thousand. Not the instructors of stellar geniuses like Rolan and Parkinson, but she was an instructor none the less.

Anon and Seth had daringly ignored her existence, so she went to sleep to draw in the next day more quickly.

Even though she wouldn't be able to use her full strength, she'd certainly teach that Seth a difficult to stomach lesson.

Seth was in for a hard time.
