Chapter 22: Danger lurking

Lucian slammed the door behind him as he let go of his lips which he was hiding from Seraphina and others. His fangs were already put and he was trying hard to control himself but it is wasn't happening at all.

He was feeling like his whole body was no longer his and just wanted to act out of its own accord. He groaned in pain as his fingers started to turn black as he tried hard to control himself. "Calm down Lucian." He said in a vulnerable tone. "She's not to be used to quench our thirst and hunger."

"I want her." A thicker voice came from within him. "She's the one I want."

Dinner time came and everyone settled at the table. Naomi slowly helped Seraphina down the stairs. The injection was no longer connected to her body but she felt weak and couldn't move on her own well yet.

"Seraphina." Esmeralda stood from her seat and walked over to Seraphina. She stood a few steps away so she wouldn't scare her from what happened the other time. "I'm so sorry about earlier. I am not the kind of person who drinks a lot of blood so I tend to starve my inner vampire."

"It's fine. I really understand." Seraphina said with a bright smile, making Esmeralda let out a sigh of relief.

"I thought you would run away from me." She said before taking Seraphina's hand in hers ans leading her to her seat. Seraphina looked around the table, everyone she hadn't seen before were eating and most of them were busy on their holographic computers while others just ate calmly.

Seraphina then noticed the head of the table where she was seated on the right side directly after it was empty. She suspected it was for Lucian and ahe wondered why he wasn't on seat. "Where's Lucian?" Seraphina asked Esmeralda and others seemed to hear her.

They all looked at her weirdly because she just called him by his name in front of everyone. "It's fine guys, she doesn't have to call him by his title if she doesn't want to. She's our guest." Esmeralda cautioned them. That made them more curious on who she might be.

"Big bro is having dinner in his room." Esmeralda said. "I don't think he is in a very good mood right now." Her voice came out calmly as she looked towards Lucian's room upstairs. The passageway was dark and gloomy and deep down she could already tell he was hungry for blood which was so rare of him.

She had only seen him actually hungry for blood once and after that, she never saw that side of him again. "Did he tell you anything? Did I do something wrong?" Seraphina asked innocently and Esmeralda looked at her with a raised brow.

"What do you mean?" Esmeralda asked.

"I… I think he went back in because I angered him. I don't know what I did." Seraphina said with her voice low and filled with confusion mixed with sadness. She didn't know why she cared so much about angering him. There was just something inside her that didn't want to be on his bad side and she didn't know why.

Thinking back at the little intimate session they both shared earlier in the day, she couldn't lie that she wanted more of that feeling but of course she won't tell him anything. "I'll go apologize go him." Seraphina said, trying to stand up but Esmeralda stopped her.

"I don't think that would be a very good idea this particular point in time." She said but with the look of guilt on Seraphina's face, she had no choice but to let her go.

"I'll take his dinner with me." Seraphina said and Esmeralda walked over to the kitchen island to hand her his covered plate of food.

"I'll come with you. I have a bad feeling about this." Esmeralda said with a low sigh before she helped Seraphina up the stairs. "We'll be back. Lucian hasn't been out since earlier today and we want to check up on him."

"Yeah, he's just been calm all day." Naomi said from her seat and Esmeralda wondered if none of them felt the danger lurking in the air or it was only her because she was a royal blood another royal blood was obviously trying his best to conceal his dangerous aura from choking everyone to death.

Esmeralda stood not far away from Lucian's door as Seraphina knocked on the door gently. "Your highness, I brought your dinner." She said, trying her best to support her body with her feet. "And I also want to apologize if I did something wrong."

The door go the room was slowly pushed open and Seraphina gazed into the dark room. It was like there was no window in the room at all. Suddenly, she felt the hair on her skin stand and the atmosphere became hot and chilly at the same time.

A pair of red eyes glared at her from the darkness and before she could react to anything or move from her spot, his hands grabbed her neck tightly.

"Lucian."
