Chapter 15: Chapter 15 She is really shameless
"Do you remember the person who gave it to you?" He smiled sheepishly.
"No,"
"Would you like to meet him if you have the chance to?"
"How did you know it's a him?" Lisa asked. Ethan's smile immediately froze.
"Did I say him?" Ethan cleared his throat.
"Yes, you did,"
"Oooh, I didn't necessarily mean him I...I just used it because you know, uhhm it's easier hehehehe," he couldn't help but feel awkward.
"So would you like to meet him?"
"No, not anymore,"
"Why is that?" Ethan asked in slight shock.
"Why would I? He played a big part in my life I would love to thank him one day but not anymore, it's better this way,"
"Oooh," he replied with a gloomy face.
"Why are you curious anyway?"
"Hehe, we are here," Ethan alighted from the car and then walked around to open for Lisa the door.
"Looks like we have a visitor," Lisa turned to Ethan her face full of questions.
"I'm not sure, we never get visitors here, let's go," he held her hand as he led her to the house.
"Grandma, I'm back," Lisa yelled as soon as she walked in as she normally did but this time, what she saw shocked her as she stumbled a little bit.
"It's been a long time sister," Lara stood up and then walked towards her.
"I'm not your sister," Lisa spoke trying to hold in her anger.
"Ooh, are you still mad about what happened?"
Ethan suddenly held Lisa's hand, this was one way of showing his support.
"Ofcourse not," Lisa replied with a mocking smile before continuing, "I don't hold petty grudges." After saying that, she walked past Lara bumping her shoulder onto hers.
"Grandma, how have you been?"
"I'm fine,"
"I missed you,"
"Silly girl,"
"Let me feel your pulse,"
Lisa had made it a habit to feel her pulse every evening.
"Ooh dear, my granddaughter is the best,"
"Grandma," Lara spoke drawing everyone's attention towards her. She was the kind of girl who loved taking all the attention. She was used to it. Everything had to always be her. It was one of the reasons why Lisa got used to being quiet and invisible.
Lara would draw all the attention away from her overshadowing her.
They all turned towards her waiting for her to speak.
"Ooh, dear look at me," she facepalmed herself," I brought gifts but I almost forgot hehehe,"
"Grandma, I heard that you will be turning eighty soon I was recommended this for old women, I was told that it really works. It reduces aging, hair loss...."
She went on and on and on and after she was done, the old lady was really mad and pissed at her. Lara was the kind of girl who could be said to be a little foolish and insensitive when communicating with adults.
"Here, grandma," she spoke.
"Old lady, hold your anger she is still the young missus' sister," Aunt Lin tried to calm her down. The old Lady forced out a smile that made everyone burst into laughter.
"Thank you, that is so thoughtful," she smiled awkwardly. This didn't go unnoticed apart from Lara whose mind was to impress the old lady.
"Ethan, I brought you this," she turned towards Ethan with a tiny box.
"Do you remember this?" Ethan casually glanced at it without uttering any word.
"Hehe, you left it when we first met..."
"Throw it away," Ethan interrupted her before she could finish her words.
"Yes Young Master,"
"Let's go for dinner," he held Lisa's hand as they walked towards the dining room.
"Go, I'll go prepare grandma's food,"
"There is no need for that, we hired a specialized chef with what you recommended,"
As everyone walked towards the dining room, Lara stood amidst the large living room feeling totally lost and confused.
No one had ever disrespected her as the way Ethan did especially Infront of Lisa.
"That loser, I am an A-lister actress, what's so good about her?" She mumbled. She couldn't understand why anyone would want or love Lisa over her.
What she didn't know was that Lisa was one of the best doctors there is.
"Miss Lara, aren't you going to eat? Everyone is waiting for you don't you think it's quite rude?" The butler brought her back from her thoughts.
"Even the maids are now disrespecting me," she thought. She walked towards the dining room only to find everyone eating and laughing cheerfully.
Anger and envy filled her heart.
"This could be me, that loser took everything away from me,"
"Point of correction you chose Gary over Ethan," her subconscious kicked in.
"Whatever, anyway whose side are you on?"
"Why are you standing there, come join us," she heard the old lady speak from afar.
"Yes grandma, ooh Lisa I heard Larry is back and that he came to see you, we should hang out sometime," Lara spoke as she sat across Lisa.
"Yes, he did," Lisa replied.
"Oooh, I guess you all don't know Larry," she paused staring at the old lady and Lin.
"You see, Larry is Lisa's childhood lover oooh, did I say too much?" She held her mouth in embarrassment as she stared at Lisa waiting for a reaction but Lisa was as expressionless as ever.
"It's okay, I already told Ethan about it so don't stress it out," Lisa replied nonchalantly as she picked up her spoon. Lara felt slightly shocked and embarrassed but she couldn't show it. She wasn't going to lose.
"Here, this is your favorite," Ethan kept adding food into her plate that it didn't go unnoticed.
"Why don't you also eat," Lisa said nervously. She thought that the old lady would feel she wasn't capable of taking care of her grandson.
But the old lady knew what she was thinking so she spoke," it's okay let him do it if he can't even take care of you who will? You need as much energy as possible,"
"Yes, little Miss we are longing for a little one from you," Aunt Lin added. This earned her a choke from Lisa.
"What?" Lisa replied after a while as she shifted uncomfortably.
"I'm already old, of course I want to see my great grandchild,"
"Grandma," Ethan whinned.
"Shut up,"
"Have you already, you know," she kissed in the air," how far are you?"
"Grandma, we have a guest," Ethan spoke seeing Lisa uncomfortable.
"It seems you have look at her cheeks," they all turned to see Lisa's cheek totally red.
"No,no it's not that....it's hot...the food is hot water,"
"Are you really hot honey? What are you thinking?" Ethan teased.
"I'll go to the bathroom," she excused herself and then ran upstairs quickly.
"Grandma, you see she is now embarrassed,"
"What is wrong with me wanting a great grandchild huh?" Ethan sighed heavily having no words to refute her.
Lara who was silent the whole time felt extremely left out. She instantly wondered what went wrong. This could have been her all along.
What she didn't think was that she ran away herself yet she kept blaming Lisa all along.
"Excuse me," she said walking towards the bathroom where Lisa was.
"Sister, how do you feel enjoying something that isn't yours?" Lara walked into the bathroom and immediately spotted Lisa washing her hands.
"Oooh, I guess I enjoy it thanks to you," Lisa replied with an arrogant smile before walking past her bumping into her shoulders.
