"You can come out now."

Not long afterward, Mallia spoke from outside. Her voice was really soft. If George hadn't been listening intently, he might have really missed it.

Both of them were wearing bathrobes, which made the situation appear so intimate. George didn't know where to start. He had thought it all through before, but now he was no longer certain.

So, while George was still hesitating, Mallia started to cry, sitting on the edge of the bed. Seeing Mallia wiping away tears, George knew he had gone too far, so he approached and gently patted her on the shoulder.

He didn't know what else he could offer for comfort.

"I'm sorry, it's my fault. I drank too much yesterday as well... I don't know how we ended up in the same room... but I won't make excuses anymore. I'll compensate for the harm I've done to you."

Listening to George's words, Mallia's crying became less evident, though she was still sobbing.
