Chapter 2: The Greatest Upgrading System

Putra sighed heavily inside and stared at the rundown cottage ceiling. This place was unfit for living in 21th century. Well, it's still hard for him to believe he suddenly was reincarnated into Douluo Dalu's world.
"At least there are no god's mistake cliches." He commented while yawning slightly. He moved around and found the sleeping mother beside him.
He used "His mother." because Huo Yuhao's memories have fused perfectly with him. He had to accept that Putra Indra Santoso was no more, and exclusively Huo Yuhao remained, which was hard to swallow for a few hours.
"I'm Huo Yuhao." He caressed his mother's face. Huo Yun'er is a beautiful blonde with a calm-looking appearance that could melt one's heart. She's a diligent, hardworking, determined, and good-natured mother despite the horrible bullying she went through.
Huo Yuhao jumped off the bed and stretched a little, wandering around the cottage with a weird expression. He would be six years old in a few weeks, but this stick-like body is horribly malnourished.
Well, he can't blame anyone besides people in the White Tiger's mansion or the mistress who oppressed Huo Yun'er and Huo Yuhao. They didn't only cut off their food resources but also other necessities.
After checking the whole cottage, Huo Yuhao only discovered a handful of rice grains and some yellowish vegetables. There is not even an egg here in this rotten pantry.
"This is worse than I thought." He commented with a weak smile. "And with this frail body, I can't even help her. My luck is just horrible, I guess."
Huo Yuhao thought about several things and felt his stomach grumbling in need of food. He felt the cold air and shivered because of it, climbing quickly to the bed.
"Ah... The blanket was only enough for one person." He grabbed the stitched brown blanket and stopped midway when trying to cover his body. "What a dilemma."
Huo Yuhao huffed and entered Huo Yun'er embrace, feeling his face touching her breast. He has been sleeping with many women in his life, but this was particularly embarrassing for some reason.
"Good night." He covered Huo Yun'er with the blanket and drifted into a deep slumber inside her warm embrace.

A blinking star entered Douluo Dalu's universe and flew across space. Its existence was unique and radiated energy equal to Divine God Kings, or even purer because of its origin.
[Ding!] A monotonous sound echoed in the quiet space.
[Rebooting...]

A handsome man with long blue hair and a golden trident mark on his forehead frowned. He glanced at the starry sky, and something was entering his domain. It was a small white star, which suddenly disappeared into nothingness.
"What's that?" He muttered solemnly.
"Should I check that small white star?"
However, before the God of Sea could even widen his divine sense to the corner of the universe. A beautiful brown-haired goddess hugged him from behind.
"San Ge~!" She excitedly greeted him with a beaming smile. "Wutong wants to adopt a new pet, so we should have told her to stop. At this point, the entire garden will be full of rabbits and cats."
The man chuckled and replied, "No, let her be. I want to see Wutong have as much fun as possible in the Divine Realm."
Xiao Wu couldn't help but shake her head wryly because their child was too spoiled by Tang San. Their lovely Tang Wutong obviously was loved by Gods in the Divine Realm. Still, It's about time to teach her some discipline.
"Ah, She is mad at Rong Nianbing because he won't make Multi-layered glazed pancakes for her. She used her daddy's name to threaten him, you know~!"
"San Ge~! She is so naughty because you're spoiling her too much!"
"Like you." Tang San kissed her forehead gently. "Where do you think she got that lovely chaotic energy? Also, is it wrong for a father to spoil his daughter?"
Xiao Wu blushed and pouted, "Hmph! You're playing around with me!"
Even though the woman was angry, they ended up on the sofa and cuddled for a few minutes. Xiao Wu tilted her head because Tang San seemed to focus on something before.
"Ah, what are you doing before I come?" She asked while tilting her head.
'Cute.' Tang San thought while caressing his wifey's hair. He hoped this moment would last forever. He wondered for a moment about how to answer Xiao Wu's question.
He shook his head and replied naturally, "Well, It's not that important because I sensed a wild star. It happens once in a while."
"Really?" Xiao Wu puffed her mouth.
"Yeah, what about a warm soup? I'll make it for you." Tang San returned by changing the top, which was very effective against his wife.
''Yey!''
Unknown to Tang San, the disturbance he felt a moment ago would create a problem in Douluo Dalu's universe. More than he could handle. And his daughter will be one of the problems in the future.

Douluo Planet, Star Luo Empire.
A dim white light suddenly appeared and floated above the White Tiger's Duke Mansion. No one noticed white-colored energy swept over the area and gathered in a small cottage behind the mansion.
[Host: Huo Yuhao locked]
A white ball of light descended from the sky and entered the cottage, hovering above Huo Yuhao's forehead.

Huo Yuhao clutched his mother's bosom and experienced a bad dream. He breathed heavily and released steam from his forehead.

He coughed a little and fell asleep soundlessly again, feeling the warmth from his mother's body.
"Hmm?" Huo Yun'er woke up from her sleep and saw her son hugging tightly. Like a good mother, she smiled a little and eased Huo Yuhao by patting his back.
As the morning arrived, Huo Yun'er yawned and cooked porridge for her son. She wholeheartedly made breakfast for Huo Yuhao, denying her empty stomach.
Ten minutes later.
"Hao'er~." She called over her son.
Huo Yuhao opened his eyes and heard a voice coming from the kitchen, seeing Huo Yun'er walk toward him with a bowl of warm porridge in her hands.
"Mom." He responded and sat on the bed.
Huo Yun'er sat beside him and said, "Here, eat this warm porridge. It would slowly ease your stomach ache."
She fed Huo Yuhao with a wooden spoon and made the child's eyes widen in awe of the taste. He happily enjoyed every last bite, remembering they won't have enough food for two people.
"Mom, aren't you hungry too?" He asked naturally, which caused her to giggle in amusement.
Huo Yun'er wiped some wet rice off his lips and replied, "Mom is not hungry, but does the porridge taste good?"
Huo Yuhao nodded immediately because that was one of the best porridges. Maybe the hunger and his new body added to this result, but it doesn't matter. He could feel the warmth of his mother's love.
He knew very well that the rice in the kitchen was almost non-existent. No, it's already run out because of this porridge.
"It's delicious!" He smiled while feeling bad inside.
Huo Yun'er patted his head and walked away with the dirty plate, telling him to wait for her. She would go and boil drink water for him.
"Aih, this guilt feeling is irksome." He commented while staring at the ceiling. Huo Yun'er is too good of a mother, but her life is miserable. A maid and lover of Duke White Tiger but neglected because he went to the frontline and charged the army.
He slowly leaned on the wall and added, "I have to find a way to get out of this place. It's harmful to us to live here because the White Tiger's mistress would always try to torment my mother. However, how could I achieve that?"
"This world is not easy because Tang San and his companions have reached the Divine Realm, which means every move I made might catch their attention. There are also Dark Spirit Masters looming everywhere."
And him being Huo Yuhao is not a good point. It's well-known that Huo Yuhao is Tang Family's errand boy after getting manipulated by Tang San to love his spoiled daughter.
"Life is hard..." An annoyed sigh escaped Huo Yuhao's mouth.

Huo Yuhao tilted his head and muttered, "What?"
A blue screen suddenly appeared before his eyes and greeted him with a good morning. It's a weird expression because it feels like a monitor flying in the air without a frame.
"When did I have a system? What's this, Reincarnator package or something?" He frowned while staring at the system panel.
[I merged with your soul last night. My sole purpose is to find a host that could utilize me to the fullest]
Huo Yuhao couldn't help but feel suspicious about this system thing. He read too many stories where a system is bullshit most of the time, and the host is a mindless servant to do a never-ending amount of quests.
Like reading Huo Yuhao's mind, the system created an additional panel.

Huo Yuhao frowned and skeptically asked, "Let's assume that is true. What kind of system are you?"

"That's a mouthful." He commented with a small smile. With this system, he might be able to erase his shitty fate. "Well, nice to meet you, system."
"Err, do you have a name?"
[No]
"Then, Evo. I'll call you that from now on." Huo Yuhao gave the system a new name.

Chapter 3: 1st Quest

"Evo, can you show me your function?" Huo Yuhao called upon the new system.

He stared at the system panel silently for a moment because the first three functions were pretty self-explanatory. He read too many novels and stories to know these things.
'What a good old day when a gun isn't on my head 24/7.' He thought to himself. His sense of awareness has returned to some degree, making everything clear for him.
Huo Yuhao circulated his breathing and continued, "What's the upgrade?"
[Upgrade function is the central ability of the system, giving a
chance to upgrade everything, whether living beings or not. For example, you can upgrade yourself, bloodline, weapons, and martial techniques to the highest stage possible]
"That's a bit broken." Huo Yuhao commented with a grin. "Then upgrading my talent should be possible right?"

"UT??" A frown appeared on Huo Yuhao's young face.

I'm back!" Huo Yun'er walked into the cottage with a bucket filled with river water. She went to the small kitchen and boiled the water for Huo Yuhao.
"Welcome back." Huo Yuhao smiled at Huo Yun'er. He observed her physical condition skillfully and saw a few bruises on her knee, which left him cold inside. They lived in the forest behind the White Tiger's mansion, and no one ever visited them.
"Are you okay? Your knee..."
Huo Yun'er covered her knee with a cloth and let out a clueless chuckle. "I'm fine." She replied naturally, not wanting to make him worried.
She quickly changed the topic to a few things related to Spirit Master because the old Huo Yuhao wanted to become one in the future. And Huo Yuhao entertained the fact and listened to her explanation.
He's not a child, but Huo Yun'er obviously doesn't want to make a fuss about her problem, which is sad. After five minutes, the water boiled, and she brought the kettle to the table, waiting for it to cool down.
"Ah, It's about time for breakfast in the mansion..." Huo Yun'er panicked as the sun was about to rise. She worriedly looked at her son because his condition was not best to be left alone.
Huo Yuhao took this chance and said, "Don't worry, mom. You can go to work. I'll be fine alone."
"Eh? B-But..." Huo Yun'er was stunned by her son's sudden statement. Since when did Huo Yuhao become so mature?
"No, but! You can go to work without worrying about me. I can take care of myself." The child proudly continued, which caused Huo Yun'er to giggle a little.
Huo Yun'er hugged Huo Yuhao and gave him a peck on the forehead. She left after telling him to stay inside and don't wander around today.
"I'll be back at noon, okay? Don't wander around like yesterday because you might encounter people from the mansion." She warned for the last time.
He nodded like a good child and responded, "Mhm."

"Evo, give me a quest."

"What a tedious quest." Huo Yuhao wryly chuckled because it would be hard to finish those goals with his twig-like body. At least it's not impossible, like killing one hundred thousand years old spirit beasts.

"Kept going." Huo Yuhao nodded and slowly crouched on the ground to start his task. He began with sit-ups and pushed this child's body to the limit. It took him an hour to do it while feeling light-headed.
A few hours later, Huo Yuhao rested on the floor and breathed heavily. He had never felt so tired, even when he was getting trained by his past life's mother.
"This makes me remember things from my past lives."

"Hoh." Huo Yuhao breathed in to calm his nerves, staring at the system panel with an intrigued look. The Gold Upgrading Ticket has more value than he expects.
"Evo, you said the Upgrade Function can upgrade everything, right?'

[Do you want to upgrade something, host?]
"I want to upgrade you." He replied, which gained a silence from the system.

[I'm afraid that's impossible with a Gold Upgrading Ticket...]

Huo Yuhao shrugged and added, "Worth a try. You can't blame me because you said Upgrade Function could upgrade everything. Is that a loophole in your system?"

"Don't be quiet like that. I'm just joking around, you know." His smirk widened. Evo said it's impossible with Gold Upgrading Ticket but doesn't say anything about higher grade UT.
Huo Yuhao pondered for minutes about his option to upgrade because there was a wide variety of it. He had to think outside the box, using the Gold Upgrading Ticket to its maximum value. He could have upgraded his body, but that was too basic.
Anything is possible.
"Evo, does the starter pack give random items? If so, my luck should affect it, no?"

"I see, never mind then. I was about to complain if the starter pack is like gacha." Huo Yuhao despised the low rate of Gacha-related things. He spent a couple of hundred dollars in the past to get a five stars weapon and ended up with nothing.
Huo Yuhao wanted to upgrade his luck, but since the starter pack isn't related to such an attribute. It would be better to upgrade other things first.
"I'm thinking too hard. At this point, I'll never use the Gold Upgrading Ticket."
He sighed and said, "Evo, use the Gold Upgrading Ticket on the Starter Pack."
