Chapter 51: Surprised

As the wave hit the Maiden's Mercy, Bastian thought that he would actually live to see the day the entire ship got turned upside down. The impact didn't just rock the vessel. It turned it, and he only barely managed to summon enough brainpower to yell an order to do something, he didn't know what he had said about a moment after the words had left his mouth.

But it worked.

The Maiden's Mercy pushed against the wave, almost toppling over to the point where they had to worry about being turned over in the opposite direction.

Bastian held onto the helm.

And the wave passed, giving them yet another gap in the storm to steer away from the heart of it all.

"WE DID IT, GIRLS!" someone roared from the rigging. This someone - Bastian did nor know who it was because the visibility was not exactly high definition - was quickly shut up by yet another strong salt spray delivered from the depths below.
