Chapter 10: Night

After leaving Theo, although she was still a little bit sad, Helena was enjoying talking to Night. He kept her company just as he promised to. She kept following the Guide stone fully believing in Night to guide her to Eirian City.

It was beginning to get dark and although she wasn't all that unfamiliar with camping outside anymore she wasn't tired yet so she opted to keep going and test her magic along the way.

[Light] instantly a light appeared near her hands and lit up the forest like it was daytime. She followed along with Night and giggling at the stupid jokes he was telling to try and cheer her up. They had grown much closer than when they first met, and yet they don't even know each other's names or faces. But that didn't stop Helena from trying to gain more information from him. But anything that could help was always muffled.

She still wasn't sure how to control her newfound power. Back home when she used [light] it was a dim flicker of light that only lasted a moment. While now it lights up as far as she can see in this dense forest and stays lit up for 20 min.

Helena spent the entire night testing her magic until the sun started to come up.She had exhausted her power and was feeling pretty sleepy. As she took a few more steps looking for a nice place to sleep she found the edge of this massive forest. At last she will see something other than trees as far as you can see.

As soon as Helena stepped outside of the forest she saw the sunrise and the sky was a deep shade of orange and blue. It was so beautiful she couldn't help but marvel at its beauty. "The sunrise is so beautiful Night. Too bad you can't see it here" Night chuckled

"You must not get up early very often then. It's always like that first thing" But what Night didn't know was that in Helena's world she only had one sun. That color didn't even compare to this world that had two suns, it made the colors so much more vibrant and rich. Never in her wildest dreams would she have thought she would see two suns in the sky.

After admiring the sunrise for a long while she noticed she was in a field of flowers. With a forest on one side of the field and a mountain on another side of it. This field wasn't too wide but seemed to trail off in two directions. Helena yawned and looked at the mountain with weary eyes, she was too tired to explore or climb. Just as she was going to just lie in the middle of the field she saw a cave not too far from where she was standing and walked towards it.

[Light] Because she was so tired the effects of the spell weren't that good. She just lit up enough to barely see the back wall and deemed it safe to sleep.

"Night I'm going to go to sleep, I'll see you in a while"

She yawned again. "alright I'll get some shut-eye too.

I'm connected to the guide stone so just yell if you need anything. Goodnight- err Goodmorning Sky "

It didn't take long for Helena to drift off to sleep.

She dreamed of her father and mother waving at her and mouthing that they love her. She tried so hard to get to them but her feet were rooted to the ground.

Helena yelled at them to wait for her to catch up but they just shook their heads and kept drifting further and further away until they were out of sight.

Helena's eyes shot open and her breathing was heavy.

She looked around and it was dark outside. She must have slept all day. [Light] As her eyes adjusted to the light she looked at her clothes drenched in sweat. [Clean] she felt so much better but wanted to put on something different so she grabbed her clothing cube from the storage pouch and changed into a light blue knee length dress with a floral pattern on it. It had flowy ruffled short sleeves. Her shoes were blue dress shoes with a big white flower on the side of them. She also wore black pants that stopped just below her knees.

She always felt better after changing her clothes into something pretty and cute when she was feeling down. This time was no different as she softly smiles. She noticed as she was looking at her outfit that there was something coiled around her leg.

"What in the world are you? you look like a snake but you have jewels embedded all over your back? Can you understand me?" She pinched the snake off her leg and held it closer to her face while examining it.

This was the first monster she met since getting the ability to speak with them. It was silent and before she could ask it again. "are you going to kill me human? " The monsters voice was soft and trembling.

"Were you planning on killing me? " Helena asked.

"No of course not, I even let you dream of what you love most in the world. Humans like pretty things ... I thought if I showed you a pretty dream you wouldn't kill me..." So that's what happened. She sighed and looked at this creature. It was indeed beautiful, no wonder people kill it for it's jewels.

"I won't kill you but please don't make me dream of pretty things again. " The jeweled snake nodded and slithered away. Could all monsters understand her now? As she looked around the cave she noticed a doorway further in she had missed before. Helena couldn't help herself and decided to explore, but not before calling Night to see if he would follow along.

As she walked along she noticed more and more crystals lining the walls. Soon she saw a place that resembles the crystal caverns she saw with Theo and her dad. This one had a light green glowing crystals forming everywhere instead of the blue ones she had seen before. There were no Speckled Crystal Rabbits here but she noticed small green butterflies that seemed to feed on the crystals.

It was a breathtaking place. Was this what it was like to be an adventurer? Seeing one stunning sight after another? If it was, she could get used to it. She had food and water so Helena decided to stay and test her strength with her [Light] spell again but this time while being surrounded by beauty.

Helena smiled but when she used her spell something crazy happened. Not only did the green glow disappear the crystals looked like ice and we're transparent when light hit them. As the light hit the transparent crystals the room was filled with rainbows and all the butterflies were glittery and sparkling as they flew. They looked like little rainbows flying around the cave.

Helena grabbed one loose crystal and put it in her storage pouch. Maybe she could put it in her house one day and it would have a lovely effect first thing in the morning.

After spending up all of her energy Helena fell asleep mid conversation with Night. Although a little upset she wasn't coming to Eirian City yet, he knew she was training herself to become stronger. Even if the Guide Stone muffles anything identifying, like what she is using to fight monsters, he can still read between the lines and make his best judgement calls.

They had spent all day together, and he was also pretty tired so he went to sleep when Sky did.

He was getting attached to this person he'd never met, and will probably never meet....

Sleep soon overtook them both.
