Chapter 19: Convocation Planning Committee
Delhi University, at Professor Sanjay Vbalia's office...
Desha? yes professor? she replied. I want you and the other student executives elect to head to the Faculty of Education now, I need you to meet professor Vijay Singh.
Professor Singh is the chairman of the planning committee for the upcoming Convocation Ceremony.
He is in need of more hands from the student body, the current student executives are all occupied with different tasks.
He needs hardworking students like yourself to handle an important task. I have equally informed the other student executives elect. They should be here any moment from now.
Knock knock, the student executives elect came in, Namaste Professor, we are here at your request.
Namaste students, ah yes Vikrom, I sent for all of you, I have an important task for you. As the student executives elect, this task should be considered as important and not taking likely.
Yes professor, we won't let the school, you nor the entire students down. So professor, what is this important task that we are to accomplish?
Yes Vikrom, as I mentioned to Desha before your arrival, I need all of you to head to Faculty of Education, you should meet Professor Vijay Singh, the chairperson of the convocation planning committee.
Professor Singn will tell you what to do. As student executives elect, your knowledge and expertise would be further enhanced while working along side him and the current student executive of the Student Union.
We will take our leave now professor, Vikrom spoke up. Alright Vikrom, Professor Singh is already expecting you.
Outside of Professor Vbalia's Office...
Vikrom called Desha without any form of anger but with curiosity. How come you got to professor Vbalia's office before us? he gave us the time to come.
Vikrom, I had Professor Vbalia's class earlier today, as soon as I was done with class, I came over to his office with him.
Ok Desha, anyway we should head to Faculty of Education now, we need to see Professor Singh as soon as possible. The others nodded their heads in agreement. So they left.
At Faculty of Education....
Professor Vijay with his Stern and aloof expression that got everyone frightened except Desha and Vikrom who are used to this kind of expression already.
Professor Vijay looked at them and said, you are late by 2 minutes, I expected you to be here earlier than this. You should know I don't tolerate lateness nor non challant behaviours from students especially from future student executives.
On behalf of us, I apologise Professor, said Vikrom. We won't repeat this kind of behaviour professor said Desha, and the others said in unison, please forgive us professor.
Alright students, you partially know why you are here. I specifically asked professor Vbalia not to elaborate, I will personally tell you the specific tasks you would be assigned to.
Vikrom? Yes professor, as the student president elect, your task is to receive the medals, trophies and plaques that will be presented to the lectures, graduating students and guest.
The university has organised for these items, so handle this task with care. You are free to recruit your trusted colleagues to work along side with you. Yes Professor, I will, replied Vikrom.
Desha? yes professor, she replied. As the vice president elect, you will handle all matters relating to the media, the registration of the trusted media and their representatives.
You will equally inform them of their limits and the decorum proceedures. Nothing should go wrong. Yes professor replied Desha.
The others were given the task of sitting arrangements in the convocation hall. They equally replied to professor Singh that they would handle their tasks properly.
Afterwards professor Sighn directed them to another professor who will guide and provide them with the necessary materials on the requirements of the University.
As at the time they left Faculty of Education, it was already 2pm, lucky for them, they didn't have any other lectures for that day.
Each of them bade themselves good bye and went to their respective halls of residence.
Desha has a room in the halls of residence which she only utilitisies during the day. She goes to college from the Mehra Mansion, but during examination times, she lives on campus.
On getting to her room, she laid in her bed and decided to rest for a while before she goes home to the Mehra Mansion.
Her friends and room mates were not around, they had gone to the cafeteria to get their lunch. Lucky for Desha, she had asked one of them earlier, to help her get Lunch as well.
After about 10minutes, her room mates came in, and were eager to know what Professor Vbalia had said in his office.
After they had their lunch, excitedly Desha explained to them from the point when she got to professor Vbalia's office to the point when she and the other student executives left professor Singh's office.
Her friends excitedly replied that they want to be involved in task as well. Desha easily agreed because professor Sighn had specifically told them they can engage their trusted friends.
