I felt sick.
The sight of her in this house was sickening.
This house was my home, a place I shared with the people I cared about the most. It used to be my favorite place, full of laughter and warmth. I would open my eyes, anticipating what kind of fun I would have later that day and wondering if I should hide in the garden and wait for my parents to find me.
I had spent eight wonderful years here before being forced to spend nine agonizing years upon her arrival. She has robbed me of everything—my home, my father, and my life. I would be crazy to welcome her into this house again.
"What do you want?"
"I missed you," she said, and I almost puked. She shook her head as she looked around the manor, as if she hadn't been the one to ruin it. She slid her fingers across the dusty cabinet, smiling at my scowling face as she walked closer. "And your father too."
