That day, when I encountered Vivienne, had ended with me becoming a young girl named Fleur's guardian. The dragoness had wanted to make one final attempt at giving the girl a normal life before dragging her way to the academy. It was then that I volunteered to be the one to take the girl into my home after hearing of her circumstances. My husband and daughter had died long ago during a monster attack, and I lived my life alone ever since. Something broke in me after burying what was left of their bodies, and I didn't think I would ever fully recover. I was sure that I was going to die alone, and I told myself that I was fine with it.
I think this chapter was able to tie up any loose ends that were left over as there were still many unanswered questions. Like, who is Elise? Fleur did not kill anyone, so how were all of her phantoms made from the spirits of the dead? We now know that Elise was Fleur's step-mother and was also the first person to be affected by her charm. Remember when it was mentioned that her aspect was supposed to make it easier to make bonds? That is exactly what happened here. Elise is the only person Fleur had affected in a positive way with her powers. This is also why she was able to pass the trial.
As for the second thing. Vivienne killed them all. I don't want to go into too much detail but I will say that it wouldn't be good for the truth about Fleur to get out.
Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter. Til' next time!
