100% My Friend System: Friend For Hire / Chapter 17: Things Didn't Go The Way I Want It To Be

Chapter 17: Things Didn't Go The Way I Want It To Be

Keith's class ended and all of his classmates as well as him exited the classroom. Aside from his basketball class, the rest of the subjects were boring.

'Like, what's the point of measuring the volume of a cup and the diameter of a coin? Not to mention, I don't know when in life would I ever need the knowledge of the angle of a triangle.'

Sighing in his mind, Keith went out of the classroom and headed to the school gate.

His mind was exhausted from learning that useless knowledge that would only take up space in his memory.

He couldn't deny the usefulness of learning the English subject and improving his grammar but when in hell would he need the knowledge he learned from history class? Would their ancestors rise from the grave and kill them if their descendants didn't know their identities?

If Keith was the president, he would have already focused on changing the educational program so that all students can choose the subjects that would complement their desired career such as engineering students that only need to learn about science, chemistry, mathematics, etc.

'Maybe I should run for president? I remember that anime where a teenager could become a prime minister. I don't know how is that possible but since it happened in anime, then it must be true. My transmigration and friend system is proof that anime worlds exist.'

'On second thought, being president is too burdensome. I might as well live the life of a rich young master than carry those heavy responsibilities.'

While Keith was lost in his thoughts, he snapped back to reality after his eyes were blinded by the light. He had exited the school building and was currently heading towards the school gate.

Taking a glance at the school gate, Keith saw a pastel violet-haired girl waiting near the school gate. She was none other than Lynn Walter who was waiting for him.

"Did I keep you waiting?"

Keith asked Lynn while waiting for her answer. Although, he already knew what her response would be since he had read of that dialogue line in a slice-of-life novel.

"Yes, and you must make it up to me! Aren't I, your 'girlfriend'?"

Lynn answered Keith's question coquettishly.

'Wait, shouldn't your line be: "No, I only waited for a few minutes." Or something like that?'

'Why do most of what I have expected to happen, never happen?'

'Is this real life?'

Keith started to question his so-called meta-knowledge from those novels that he had read.

Not only did he lose his young master aura and Dell didn't act the way he expected him to, but his knowledge and expectations also didn't apply to Lynn!

It was like his father face-slapped him and yelled at him, "Son, wake up from your delusion! This is real life, not those fictional novels!"

'But I have to admit, events going the way I did not expect them to occur is way more thrilling than knowing how things would end up!'

'So this is the thrill of the unknown?'

From the events that he had experienced after his transmigration, he could without a doubt claim that all of it was real.

Lynn Walter was real unlike those 2D Waifus in his past life.

Unlike a 2D Wife, Keith couldn't control Lynn's decision and her feelings toward him. And if he neglected her, then he would without a doubt suffer her ire unlike if he neglected a 2D Wife.

To be honest, Keith had been treating the life after his transmigration as something "fictional" and he thought that he was the protagonist due to experiencing transmigration as well as having a system as a cheat.

But lately, he found out that things didn't go the way he wanted them to.

He lost his young master background after his transmigration. Despite being his property, his system did not behave like a submissive sentient artifact. Dell didn't agree immediately to be his subordinate despite him being better than Dell on several levels. Not to mention, Lynn didn't respond to him the way those 2D Waifus would respond to him when he played dating simulators.

If Keith was a control freak, he would have already died from a heart attack from all the experiences he had felt during his transmigration.

But he wasn't. He preferred it that way.

After all, even if he had been satisfied in his past life, he had never felt the thrill he felt after his transmigration in his past life.

Those thoughts within Keith's mind only surfaced for a few seconds before he recovered his attention back to Lynn. After all, he didn't want to keep his 'real' girlfriend waiting!
