Chapter 43: Chapter 43: It’s Not Real

I didn’t want to admit that I was just an asset to him. I wanted to believe the fantasy. I wanted to think that I mattered to him. Because otherwise, why would he have stayed by my side the entire night? Why would he have cared for me every hour, chasing away the shadows that cornered me in every moment of my nightmares?

Why would he help the nurses, why would he even have brought me here in the first place?

It was the last thing I remembered before passing out. He had brought me, bleeding and bruised from Fiona’s attack, to the hospital. Why show that much attention and care, if he didn’t truly have feelings for me?

He could have just called an ambulance. I wished now that he had. I wish that he had just called the ambulance for me and stayed out of it.
